Most people spend their entire life stressed without ever giving a single thought as to what it is they really want or what's important to them. See, I'm here to cut through all that noise connecting you to yourself and the life that you were meant to live. I used to slave away at a corporate job that I hated, but I broke through the social norms and pursued my passion. As a result, I own my own coffee company, I'm espresso sommelier, and I get to travel the world. You, too can live a life that you love, but it starts with getting clear about what you want. It starts with a new decision. I'm your host, Donnie Rouse. You are listening to the podcast One Life, Cause and Effect. You are both the cause and the effect in your life. Said differently, every result that you have is the result of an action that you've taken. Now, this can be alarming as well as liberating, because when you look at everything you've gotten, even the things that you're not happy with, you can realize that what you have currently is just the result of actions you've taken in the past. And the liberating aspect of it is that by recognizing this and taking a new action, you can get a new result. But where do people fumble up in this? Where have I fumbled up in my own life? It's not enough. A lot of times you'll hear people say, well, I've tried everything. And it's bullshit, because if they had tried everything, they would have the result they want. So there's a couple factors at play, one of them of which we're not going to really dive into today, and that's the belief system, because the action you take is based on the beliefs. If you think you're going to get the result, you're willing to take bigger action. If you're not willing to take bigger, if you don't believe in the result that your ability to attain it, you take small action, you get shitty results. The second factor at play is having the effect, the thing you want, and focus. And I think that that's where a lot of people kind of fall short. They're going, going, going, going, going with no destination. They don't know what they want. So there are a few questions I want you to ponder at the beginning of this as I go throughout the podcast, because I'm going to give you an example from my own life. And they are this. What is the effect that you want? What is the thing? You could look at this as like an overall, like, arching umbrella for your life. Or you could break it down into categories for your health, for your finances, for your emotional life, for your relationships. Next, say, well, what is the cause and the effect that you're currently getting? So when you look at what you have, what's been the effect that you have currently, and what actions have you taken and what effect has it given you? Third, what is the effect that you want? Again, we already have that. That's up top. What are the new actions you're going to take and what are the new expected results from those actions? I mean, I really do believe that a lot of time we know the action that we should take. At least I know the action I should take. But maybe because of some fear, I kind of get stumbled up, I get stuck and I don't take it. And as a result, I never get the result that I want. I went for a run this morning, and to give you a little kind of a backdrop, I just gotten back from Portugal. I spent 10 days going through Portugal, Porto, Lisbon and Madeira. And while I was there, I realized, man, I love being outside of the country. And I realized that I wanted to. I was meeting so many people. I met, like digital nomadism. This is what I want to do when I came back home. And I'm back into the. I don't want to say routine, because there is an awakening at every trip I get, every trip I take. I mean, there is some learned aspect about myself. It's one of the reasons why I love traveling as well as all the people that I meet. So as I was going, I was like, all right, well, this is what I want. I want the freedom to travel. It's not even like I want to travel 24 7, like every day, but I want that freedom to say, okay, well, yes, I could have my place here in the United States, or I could just go, you know, when I want travel and be able to work from anywhere. So what then I said, all right, well, what is it that I've. What have I been doing that have been giving me the results that I've gotten? If you've heard, if you've listened to this podcast before, you'll likely had picked up that I mentioned this, but you'd hear me talking about how I've done all the operations in my. In my job, in my career with Rous Coffee. I wasn't willing to relinquish control or trust other people to do some of those functions, especially with production. And as a result of this way of thinking, I've created this life that kind of. I mean, granted, I have a lot more freedom than most people, than most entrepreneurs, but still, for the effect that I want, I was kind of. I was still locking myself in. And so it made me realize, well, what is the real effect that I want? I started to think about the impact that I wanted to have on people just through, such as this, this podcast, as well as through the one life course that I am creating, which will. Which. The intention is to give you this exact format, this formula for your life, to give you that grand vision, and then realize all the things as well as where the blocks are that are preventing you from getting what it is you want. Because I believe that life is meant to be lived, life is meant to be enjoyed, but it's not enough just to know that. So I was going through, like, my life being back here because I was conflicted with all these different things. It's kind of like whenever I go on a trip, you have this extreme emotional high. Then when you come back, it brings you down a little bit. It's not even like there is. I wouldn't say there's a lot of stimuli. When I travel. There is, in a good way, but there's more stimuli here in the States in terms of noise, the shoulds, the musts, the fears. Every time you turn on social media and you don't think there's fears there, you're trying to pull you into some kind of action, then you're deluding yourself. Everything is trying to pull you somewhere, so much so that it could leave you feeling like you're not on solid footing. So when I came back here, I'm like. I started. I needed to take a walk, so I went for a run early this morning. And as a result of just moving my body, first thing, stepping on the street, where it was extremely quiet, not a single person on the road, I got more clarity. I got more clarity as to what I was doing, the result I was getting, and what I want to do to get me the results and the freedom that I want. Let's talk about knowing exactly what it is that you want. Do you know what you want? We might have some vague idea about what it is, but a vague idea might start to steer you in the right direction, but it's not going to really get you the thing you want. To give you an example, my cold Roman espresso. I say I want to bring it nationwide. All right, well, what exactly does that even mean for me to bring it nationwide? That can mean me physically spending all that time growing the company or it can mean making a team. There's a lot of things that are left that are ambiguous, that are just out there. But it's not until I get the clarity, until I say, okay, well, how will I. What else do I want? How do I want to experience this? And you start to ask different questions, like detailed questions that kind of give you more focus that you can start to make and take actions, more focused actions. And a lot of it. This is another thing that I realized. A lot of it has to do with feeling, because when you're emotionally detached from the result that you want, you kind of get stuck. You don't really feel motivated to go for the thing or to do the action that's necessary in order to get the result you want. But if you take the time before, understand what it is you want, but understand more importantly the feeling that you want from it, like, what it's going to give you, like, why do you want it in the first place? Then it starts to get all the gears lubed up and going and then everything else. Once you're in that peak emotional state, the things start to flow. So what is an effect that you want in your life? Maybe you want to travel more. Maybe you want the freedom to be able to work from anywhere and you're an entrepreneur like me, and you're like, oh, man, but I can't because I do everything. Maybe you want that beach body that you've never been able to achieve. Maybe it's the perfect relationship where you love the person they reciprocated back to you, and everything is just peaches and cream. What is it that you want? Second question. What is the result that you've been getting? And look at the actions taken and the result they've given you. Now, with this, it's important not just to list the things that you have done, but also the things that you didn't do, because those are equally as important. Right? So just to give you a brief example, I will sometimes say, sometimes this is a good. I find this very funny. But I will sometimes say, oh, I want to go out and meet somebody. I want to have a relationship. When I look at the actions, they don't match the effect. So, Right, I might say that. But then if someone invites me out to some kind of mixer, I might turn it down. Or rather than put myself in a position where I might be exposed to more people and the opportunity to meet someone is there and not take it, that's a failed action. That's something I didn't do. But if I'd done that, it may have been able to give me the result I wanted. Write down all those, and then once you've done that, look at those. And sometimes it could be as easy as flipping, because when you're looking at the things that you've done and the things that you haven't done, it'll give you more clarity as to the things that you need to do to get the results you want. And it's not going to be foolproof. You're not going to know exactly what. What the result is that you're gonna get from the new actions taking. But the thing is that it is gonna give you a new result and you will keep tweaking and doing something new in order to. Until you get the desired result, the desired effect, right? So if you say you've done everything, you're lying to yourself, because if you'd done everything, you'd have the thing that you want. This is where coaching comes into play. Coaching is finding the person who has gotten the result that you want that can get you there faster. Who has the formula, who knows the actions you need to take in order to get the result you want, in order to have the effect to give you that, the overall umbrella effect to get you to your overall objective. So that is all I've got for you guys today, and I hope you enjoyed this because this one is extremely powerful. Extremely powerful. Sometimes we think we understand kabba. We know it intellectually, but until we apply it, we don't really know it. And this has been one of those things for me. I mean, yes, it has happened in my life. And there's, you know, there have been points where I knew. And it's when I have this clarity of this vision and this big enough why that all of a sudden this entire process goes into like, auto. Goes into automatic. But when the clarity is not there, when the feeling and the emotion is not there. Look, it's. It's not that I want the thing any less. It's just that there needs to be a little bit more color, a little bit more detailed in that picture for me to be able to pull forward. And a lot of that comes through feeling. So I started asking myself different questions, like, how would this feel if I did this? How would it feel if I did that? And start taking the effect that I want and diving into the feelings, asking myself different feelings. And it starts to color it, and it starts to give me more detail as to what aspects do I want to. To have in this effect. What aspect Do I want to change? I know this sounds very vague, but the feeling part was not the part of this podcast. But what I want you to understand and what I want you to take away from this is that when you think of the results that you've gotten in your life, when you think of the things where you've achieved the result and you knew what actions to take and what effect, it's not like you knew the exact thing, the correct actions to take to get you the outcome. You didn't. Right. But without even knowing it, our minds were like, all right, well, try something new, try something new, try something new. And you kept going until you got it. So it was having this emotional grand vision and this reason why that pulled you forward. And then just to go back to this whole thing about cause and effect, it's important first to know the effect that you want and to be emotionally tied to that effect. And that just makes the entire process that we're going through much easier. And if it's strong enough, you won't even have to do this, because your brain will figure it out on its own. But there is a process to this. And I do this in the one life course that I'm creating, is walking through this entire thing to see it. Because a lot of time when you're unconscious of the things that you've been doing, a lot of time because they're habitual, you don't understand why you're getting the results you are, because you don't understand the things that you're doing unconsciously. But once you bring some light, and when you shine a light on those now, all of a sudden you're like, oh, wow, well, if I just do this differently, then I get this result. Oh, perfect. And sometimes just the awareness can create the change. So that is all I've got for you guys today. I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, please give it a thumbs up. Please give it a share.
