This is a podcast titled "Change Your World" recorded on June 1, 2020, featuring Donny Raus as the sole speaker. In this motivational episode, Donny shares personal reflections on mindfulness, the power of internal peace influencing external reality, and the importance of positive thinking combined with action to achieve desired outcomes in life and business.
Hi, guys. My name is Donnie and you are listening to the podcast One Life. Change your world. As you change yourself, you change your world. Today. I was. It seemed to be a reoccurring theme that was weaving itself in and out of my day. It started first with a webinar I was on this morning. And then it. I found the same theme coming up in both in my readings as well as my yoga practice this past afternoon. And I'll start with the yoga practice because that was the last occurrence. And that's what had me connect all the dots, not just in today, but also how that theme filled itself in my life. So while I was doing yoga, we were sitting there. It was about midway through the practice, and we were transitioning. We were doing some back bends, and we were transitioning to a new band. As I was kneeling there on the mat, the instructor said, notice how we feel. Notice the world around us. When I stopped to take a notice, I noticed that the world, everything around me, felt at peace. And then he made the comment. He said, as is internal becomes external. Then it clicked. And then the learnings from the webinar that I had earlier that day clicked. It was because I started focusing on my breath and I was going into this kind of like, trans state that there was peace on the inside as a result of that peace on the inside, there was peace on the outside. I thought back to my travels, and I thought of how I would always tell people, well, when I'm traveling, I feel like a different person. I'm open, I'm more carefree. And I always thought that it was the traveling that was having that effect on me, but it was me having the effect on the travel. It's true that two people can go on the same trip and have two completely different experiences. So it's not the experience itself, but rather what the individual is bringing into that experience that makes that experience real. And as I was reflecting on that, I thought about how I was at home and the belief systems and the thoughts in my head that sort of swirl around that give me my present day reality. During the webinar, we spoke about our business and we spoke about the aspirations for the business. Clearly, everybody wants their business to be successful. Everyone wants to sell as much as they can. They want to have an abundant life. But when we actually stop to say, okay, if this is what we want, let's get honest with ourselves, what are the feelings that we have on a reoccurring basis? What is it that we're focusing on? When I answered this Question. I was writing it down and I realized that I was focusing on whether or not I would have the impact that I want, whether or not I was capable of making that impact on the person. And it was all. And then there was even a scarcity aspect. So when you think of the idea that energy flows where emotion goes, the emotions I was putting out there were all around these negative aspects, like around scarcity. So as a result of that focus, what I received back was scarcity. What I received back was this self defeating talk because that was my belief system, that was my focus. So of course, whatever we have in our mind, if that's what we're focusing on, it's like a magnet. We attract those, we attract those experiences to confirm what we're thinking. Haven't you ever had an experience where you thought somebody said something bad about you or they were malicious in some way only to find out that it was a misunderstanding? But in that moment, in that moment that you decided this was the meaning that you were applying to whatever that action was, in that moment it was true. But then only after realizing, after speaking with the person, like, oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I always jump to conclusions, this is what I thought happened. And then you feel silly and then we continue to do it over and over and over again. Isn't it true? So what we have to do is we have to start bringing awareness not to what I mean, because we all know what we say we want, right? Let's focus on a relationship. For example, what is the ideal relationship that you want? Right? If you have a significant other, maybe it's with a friend, maybe it's a family member. What is that ideal relationship that you want? What does it look like? Write a few words, take a mental note. Now that you have that right, I mean, so we confirm that this is what we want, this is what we're striving towards. But if you're honest with yourself, what have been the actions? Where have your thoughts gone when you were interacting with that person? My guess is it's no different than what I was doing for my business, right? We start to focus on all these things. They're our own insecurities, our own false beliefs, the false narrative of our mind. And as a result we start to see that on that person. So we say we want one thing, but yet we're focusing on something completely different. And it's only by starting to become conscious of it, we can start putting our intention into moving towards what we want. How do you move towards it? Moving towards it. It's similar to, how do you change anything in your life? Right. If we want to. If we want to go out on a new endeavor, there's a certain level of belief that we need within ourselves to be able to create that result. And it's about taking action from a place of conviction, taking action from a place of faith. For instance, I was reaching out. I was interviewing different authors, different professionals, and at first I was nervous about reaching out to them, but then I changed the language in my head, and the language in my head was saying, listen, if they find value in this, if they think this is beneficial, they'll come on the show. I mean, they'll come on my podcast. If they don't, then that's fine as well, because I can't force anyone to come on my podcast. And then it comes. You say this, believe, you go. If not them, something better, you know, to let you know, to repeat over and over in your mind that the world, the universe, God is all working for you. So we have to adopt this belief that life is happening for us. And if we adopt that belief, we start to look at everything that's happening around us, and when things don't go away, trusting that in some way it's working towards our benefit, you might say, well, that's just positive thinking. It is positive thinking, but positive thinking creates positive results. Positive. Let me rephrase that. Positive thinking with positive action creates positive results. And it's this whole feedback loop that goes over and over and over again. But it starts with the belief that you can, when you have that conviction inside, that you can create or do whatever it is when you have that conviction inside. Once you see it internally, only then can you create it on the external. I hope you enjoyed this podcast here. This is a fairly quick one, but I wanted to share that with you because it's, you know, so many of us, we feel like we're driving towards one thing, but if we stop to just take a look at our thoughts, we realize we're going somewhere completely different, a place where we don't want to go. So I hope you listen to this and it helps you kind of analyze, well, where are your thoughts? Where have you been putting your energy? So this way you can redirect it.
