Donny Raus talks about finding the right people to support your big dreams. He shares a story about encouraging a friend's aspirations and explains why sharing goals with believers who will cheer you on matters more than keeping them secret.
Hi, guys. My name is Donny Rouse, and you're listening to the podcast One Life Goal Guides. We all have big dreams, but in order to get to those dreams, we need a guide. Sometimes when you have a big goal, or what they call a hairy, big, hairy, audacious goal, sometimes one of the hardest things to do is to keep that dream, to keep that goal alive. Because what happens in life right as you're going through the day to day, there's things coming at you, things that make your attention, things that make you doubt yourself. That is why it's important to have a guide, or what I call, like, goal angels, Someone to remind you of what it is that you're capable of, what it is that you want. Because it could be so easy to forget. There's a saying in one of the coaching groups I was in, there's a saying that says isolation breeds doubt. When you are alone with your thoughts, when you're alone with your goals and you don't share them with people who love and support you, you start to doubt your ability to ever make them real. And like a lot of important things that literally seem to fall by the wayside, the light starts to get dimmer and dimmer to the point where you don't even recognize the goal anymore. And it seems there's no feeling there. I was doing. I was brewing my coffee, my espresso. And while I was sitting there brewing my coffee, can't remember if I may have had some audio going on and some audio in my ears, an image popped in my mind. And that image was a friend of mine who has aspirations for having her own cooking show. And in that image, I saw her literally in her kitchen, cooking, smiling, sharing her passion, as well as going out into. She lives in Europe, so going out into, like, the local markets, buying, foraging for producers, and all under the umbrella of pleasure, bringing pleasure into the home. Not sure why, like, what spurred the thought, but, like, I felt the desire and the need to share this with her. And so thinking about, I'm like, well, like, do I. Do I share this with her? I mean, one, it's kind of weird that, like, it just literally popped in my mind and I have this, like, this desire and, like, this impulse that I have to share. Should I share? Should I not share? So I waited a few days. I didn't even share in the beginning. Then I was sitting by my computer, I was like, you know what? I feel something's telling me that I should share. So I sent her a message that, hey, funny thing, I was brewing coffee. And an image of you popped in my mind. It was you with your own cooking show. I saw you sitting there smiling, you know, you know, sharing ingredients, not without going into any details. And I said, you know, I just wanted to let you know that that is what I saw. It just popped in my mind for no other reason. I wasn't even thinking about it, but it just. It was a vision I saw. I got a message back saying, thank you for that. Because in that moment, she was having feelings of doubt. Doubt that it was even possible, Doubt that she could make a shift from one industry or one discipline to something else. Because the passion was something. Wasn't something that she was known for. It was a completely different field, but something that really drove her. And when I read that, when I read a response, you know, something clicked. I'm like, you have to, you know, one, you have to share your goals with other people, but you have to share your goals with the right people. Because think of, like, have you ever shared a goal with someone who, while they have all the best intent, they can't see what you see. And they also are there because they don't want you to get hurt. So as a result, they poo poo all over you, all overnight, all over you. They poo poo all over your dreams, right? But they have the best intentions. They just, you know what? They don't want to see you fall and get hurt for trying to attempt something. Maybe it's because they gave up on their own dreams. And so what I want you to do or the intention of this is for you to kind of get more, get reacquainted with those desires, those dreams that you harbor and you hold, like, deep in your heart, and to let them out, let them free, but only to the people you know will support and like, and cheer you on. You want to give this stuff to your cheerleaders because those are the people in those times of doubt where you're not even. Well, you can't even see to the end of that tunnel. They're there to remind you, say, you know what? I believe in you. I know this is possible. I know what you are capable of. So if you literally just stop, when's the last time you actually stopped to think, feel your dreams? Like, when was the last time you actually stopped to feel your dreams? Maybe there's someone that you've forgotten that you've had since you were a child. And because of that, you know, they seem very small, very dim because you've never actually shined the light on. What are they? If you recall just one. You don't have to do many. Just one. How would it feel to reawaken that? What would it feel like to accomplish, to actually live whatever that thing is that you desire? And then secondly, who is someone in your life that you can share this with that you know would be your biggest cheerleader? You know that in those times where you were doubting yourself and you were, and you were maybe felt defeated, that they would lift you back up and remind you of the reasons, all the reasons why you want the thing you do, reminding you also that they believe in you of all the potential to do it. Now you may think like, well, how do I choose people? You know who those people are, right? You know, if you literally just feel it in your body. You know, if you, if you go to this person, you tell one person something, you know the kind of feedback they're going to give you if you give it to someone else, you know what kind of, you know, you know, if they're going to give you different feedback. So share it with people who you know will cheer you on, will lift you up and that is it. And then I guess the last thing I want to leave off is be that for somebody else. Because I can't tell you just from sharing. You know, sharing the, what I saw in this person made me feel good because, you know, she hearing her doubts and then saying, well, you know, thank you so much, it made me feel good because, you know, it's like, wow, it feels good to give, right? It feels good to give compliments, you know, it feels good to receive them as well, but it feels good to remind someone else of what their true potential is. To remind them of who they really are. That is all I've got for you guys today. Hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, please give it a share, give it a thumbs up, leave a review and I wish you guys the best to your week. God bless and I will see you soon.
