Hi, guys. My name is Donnie Rouse, and you're listening to the podcast One Life Path of Least Resistance. You may have heard the quote before. What you resist, persist. Said differently, it's whatever you're putting that resistance against, it's going to keep on fighting back. So the only way to get past that resistance is to align with it. So what if you can go directly. If you had a goal in mind, and you can go directly there without any kind of turbulence, Doing so would require you to make some planning, but even then, you're bound to hit some bumps along the way. But what if those bumps were actually put there on purpose to actually set you on the right course? How would you feel about them? When I was. I was talking with a friend and she was explaining to me how she was having some difficulty controlling her weight and how when she figured out, like, what it was that was actually causing the weight, it was her eating habits. So after speaking with her, I was saying, well, what is it that you eat? And it ended up being something like, well, whatever is available, whatever is easiest. I said, oh, well, that's interesting. So she asked me, well, how were you able to do it when you were doing the competition? How are you still able to do it now? I told her, well, when I had the competition, there wasn't. And I'm talking about the physique contest, if you haven't heard the other podcast episodes. I told her, well, when I was prepping for the competition, there wasn't any thought to go, like, towards what am I going to eat? Every single meal that I had was planned and prepped before. So this way, at every. Every time that alarm went off for my meal, I just grabbed one out of the refrigerator, I ate it, that was it. I looked at food during that physique contest. I looked at food not as something that I got enjoyment out of. It was just a matter of getting macros, protein, carbs, fats. It was just for energy and to build muscle. And as a result of that, I have a very different outlook on food now. So the point of it, I was telling her, is that I didn't have to think about it. The thought process was easy. I just grabbed it out of the refrigerator, open it up, and it's done. After the competition, though, I continued to meal prep for. I mean, I'm still doing it now, but I hadn't been doing it as religiously as I was when I was doing the competition. And the main reason for that was that I didn't have something that I was Working towards. With this whole Covid thing, I was actually planning on competing again, but, you know, it just made a little bit more difficult. So when I would meal prep, I stayed on target. I ate whatever I prepped. And like, my meals, my caloric intake was all accounted for. But the times that I ran out of the meal prep and I was forced to get, you know, make my own food or get something, go out somewhere, I took what was whatever was easiest. That was the path of least resistance. But so was meal prepping everything and having everything done. That was the path of least resistance. So really what it comes down to is developing a strategy to get what we want. So if it's eating healthy, if you want to eat healthy, how can you make it easy for yourself to eat healthy and not be swayed toward, like. Well, I do. I was going to say Oreo cookies, but I can't even resist Oreo cookies. If you were, you know, to. How do you create yourself, set yourself up to win? And it comes through planning and getting leverage. Like, I had the. The competition that was. That was leveraged for me because I wanted to look good on stage or said differently, I didn't want to look like a fool on stage. So I made sure I was stuck in my workouts and I didn't skip one and I didn't cheat on my meals. And that was. That was one piece of leverage. The other leverage was how much money I was spending on food. I would spend all this time buying, prepping, and doing all the food that if I didn't eat it, it was going to go bad. And that was painful. So. And it's not just to say that we want to focus on that kind of leverage, that painful leverage. We could also look at positive things. What are the positive things you can get out of it? Maybe it's then directing the thoughts to how you're going to look and feel when. Come summer, when you're in that bathing suit. Another story for you, and this one's going to lack some context. Not because I don't want to tell you, it's just because I don't really remember, but I do remember the feelings around it. This was going back probably around the time I graduated college. I was dating a girl for. We dated for about six years. And this was about. Towards the end of that relationship. I remember I'd left corporate America, which she was not happy about, because I wanted to pursue my passion for coffee. And so there was some stress there. And then I remember we were out one night at a club and we ran into one of my friends and there was some kind of, there was some kind of conflict. I don't remember what it was. He said something to her, but it was causing a lot of stress in my life. And I was driving to the cafe where I was working and it was early morning, I think I was opening up the cafe at that time. It was like five in the morning. Sun's coming up and I'm looking there and I am like, I feel the heaviness of the stress. I looked up to the sky and I said, as a God, I said, please help me, guide me, do anything. I was like, I can't take it anymore. I surrender. I'm putting in your hands. I surrender. As a result of that surrender, all the stress for some reason, like, I shit you not so right when I said that, I looked up into the sky and I swear this is how I remember it. I remember it was like a light being, like a light like beaming on me. And when I saw like the, when I saw the sun coming up and everything just all that stress melted away, everything became tranquil and peaceful and I did not worry about that situation again. Fast forward. We ended up breaking up and I would end up spending three months in Rome, Italy. And that experience would end up transforming my entire life, not just my personal life and how I travel. Because as a result of that trip, I went on to travel the world. And I'm still traveling the world, but it also made a huge difference in my business. One of my best selling product called Roman Espresso was the result of that trip. So it goes to say that there's a line, there's a path that's kind of set for it. Like, I do really do believe whatever it is that you want, you desire, you place that desire, it's up there, it knows that you want it and it wants so badly to give you that path of least resistance. But sometimes that path is not what we have in our mind. We tend to fixate ourselves on, well, no, this is the way it's supposed to happen. This is the way it has to happen. But what if there were an easier way to get to that goal, that destination, that thing you want, Wouldn't you want to take it? Wouldn't you give it a try? Would you be open to new experiences? So to close out, to give you some homework, what are those things that you're struggling or wrestling with, that you're resisting? And if you're looking at the resistance, what is that you could learn from this resistance? What other what possible message can this resistance be giving you? What could be the more empowering meaning of this resistance? And lastly, what would happen if you aligned with it? That is it. Guys, I hope you enjoyed this episode.
