Hi, guys. My name is Donny Rouse, and you are listening to the podcast One Life Real Wealth. What does it mean to be wealthy? You're probably thinking of some nominal amount of money. Is it $10,000? Is it a million dollars? Is it $10,000,000? What I want you to do is I want you to take that answer and I want you to keep that in your mind as I go through this podcast. Because my hopes and my intentions for you is that by the end of this, you start to question what you quantify and qualify as real wealth, but also that you start to ask yourself a different set of questions. It all starts with my best friend inviting me to be his best man at his wedding. I like writing speeches. I think I have this knack for writing. Writing best man speeches. I've only been the best man three times, and whenever I write the best man speech, I usually will get the person who is the receiver, the groom, to start crying and why. I like to claim that I have some secret power. What it really is about is cutting through everything and being honest and being grateful and appreciating the person there. What I do in my speeches is I share their impact on my life and how they've contributed to my life. And I think as a result of that, it cuts straight through. It's heartfelt, they feel it, and I get that reaction, but that's not what this is about. So my best man, or my best friend invited me to be his best man at his wedding. I had kind of like a general idea of what I wanted to do during that speech, but it wasn't crystal clear, to be honest with you. It didn't actually come to me until the night before. Talk about pressure. The night before, I was sitting there, I was writing down in a notebook, and I remembered my best friend always saying to give you a little bit of a backstory. First of all, one of our friends that we used to work with when we were in high school, and we were lifeguarding, my friend Nando, call him out because he's an awesome dude. Took photographs of this person, and this person went on to become a very popular model. And then later on a TV personality, my friend Nando was always like, a little bit sour because he never even got a thank you. And he, you know, he's like, I know I'm not asking for anything. Maybe just like a thank you, maybe invite me to an event, something. And he would say. He would make the joke saying he got all this and what do I have? I have got. If you know Italian. That means shit in Italian. He would say it in a joking manner, but I knew on some level he was holding that as truth. He was looking at his life through a lens that says, this person gets this. I didn't get anything right? Like, things are happening. Well, for them, things aren't happening for me because there's partial truths in everything we speak, everything we joke around about, there's partial truths there. So remembering this, I said, you know what? This is what I'm going to use for my speech. As I was writing the speech. Let's fast forward. As I was giving the speech, I went on. I admired my friend. And then I asked him, I said, what is real wealth? And then I started to question, I started to break down his beliefs. I said, well, what is wealth if you don't have time? Because right now, at that moment, he had all the time in the world. He was working in the corporate job, and he hated it. Hated it. When he quit, he vowed he would never go back. He ended up doing some Ubering and then later on starting his own business. So I said, well, what is wealth if you don't have the time? Next, I said, what is wealth if you don't have the health? There are plenty of people who have tons of money but are too unhealthy to even enjoy it. So if you can't enjoy, if every day it's a strain to get out of bed, is that real wealth? The last thing I ask them is, what is wealth if you don't have people to share it with? Nando is a magnetic person. He's always joking around, always kind of like the life of the party, always making other people feel good. And as a result of that, I feel like people gravitated towards him naturally. And as he was sitting there taking these words in, he was thinking that he started smiling. He had a tear coming in his eye, was smiling. I posed the question again. I said, so, Nanda, tell me, are you wealthy? And then he said, yes, I am. So I tell you this story because I want you to question out, what are the things in your life? What is real wealth to you? Right? Think with everything I just said. Like, to have the health, to have the time, to have the people around you who love you, who support you, what is real wealth? And I'm not downplaying anything about material possessions, about going after a monetary goal, whatever it is, that stuff is all important because in order for you to get there, you're gonna have to grow. You're stretch yourself, you'll have to start a business. You have to provide value, and it'll feel good doing that. The whole point of life is for us to keep growing, is for us to make these new goals, achieve more, experience more. And that is the byproduct when you're giving value to people. Wealth, if you set it up correctly, is the byproduct of that. If you set it up correctly, that's the key word. But even if you don't have it, you could be poor as anything and still have wealth because it's about the emotions you feel. So let me ask you this again, looking back, remembering that answer you said at the very beginning of this podcast. What you said was wealth. Is it true? And after listening this, how would you describe real wealth? I am broadcasting this podcast right now. I just moved to Miami, Florida, and this was about creating. The move came from creating a lifestyle for myself. I am a firm believer in taking action and, and just kind of jumping into the water because I know once I jump in there, once I cut off the ropes, there's no going back. Because I know that when you have to change, I mean, change, we resist change. When I'm inspired, I make the decision and then everything else has to follow. And it's not always easy. But that is wealth. That is wealth, is me creating the time, the freedom for me, the time being around people whose company I enjoy and feeling healthy. I'm in Miami beach here, which is, you would say is kind of like the epitome of everyone being in good shape. But what is health there, right? I mean, I did a physique contest where I looked like a million dollars and I felt like one. I was stiff, I was tired, I felt worn out. So what is real health? I mean, you could take every. You can take those three components I just mentioned to you about wealth, and you could break those down, start to shake the legs of that belief table that what does it mean to be healthy? I know that I used to think, oh, it was just having a nice body. But when I had that perfect body, I didn't really feel that good. I was sore, I was tight, I felt worn out. I mean, so it made me question, what is real health? Real health for me is having the energy, having the mobility, the flexibility, the endurance, to have that ability to, at the snap of a finger, to be able to take off that burst of power that was well, to me, as well as some strength. But it was about feeling good, about feeling flow, about having my body be able to move and all these Things being functional. So the end of this, what I want you to do is to take those things. After you've answered the question, we'll repeat them right now. What did you say real wealth was at the beginning of this podcast? At the end, how did your definition for real wealth change? And then the last piece, take those three components of real wealth. Take time, love, or relationships, and health and describe those even further. If you want, you could do it just in your mind as I'm saying them. Describe them further and say, what is this? What does health mean to me? What does relationships mean to me? You may find that there's a gap there where your relationships aren't as good. Then you want to dig a little bit deeper. I think the goal of any relationship is to feel connection, is to feel love, is to feel appreciation, is to feel gratitude. More than anything in your life, your relationships are what have the power to make you. To make you feel good. Really? Really. I think I'd read something somewhere they said relationships have the power. When they were looking at hiring people, this company, I don't remember which one it was. Before they would consider hiring a person, they would look to the relationships by asking questions. And these questions would give them insight as to what their personal lives were like because they realized the happiness wasn't going to come from putting hours in at work. The happiness came from being outside of work, having these nurturing relationships and having activities that you did. So that is it for this podcast, guys. This is like probably, I think, the third episode in the series of this new segment in my life called Miami Beach. And yeah, I hope you enjoyed this one. I'm gonna be doing a lot more podcasts here because I have the time and because of all the people that I interact with on a daily basis. It's those experiences that I want to bring to use this way. They may add value and maybe create and shape your life in a different way by waking you up to see, well, you know, if this person can do it, I can do it. If this person can pursue it, I can pursue it. That is it, guys. I hope you enjoyed this podcast again. This is Donnie Rouse. If you have any questions, you can send me a Message via Instagram at-o n n y r a u s.com if you would like to be a part of one of my podcasts. I'm sorry, none of the podcasts, my workshops, it's called the Live your one life workshop. And in that workshop, we break down, we look at, we get clarity on what it is you want. We break down the disempowering beliefs and then we get you to take action on them. And if you take enough action, you will change the beliefs. You will change everything else. But it starts with taking action. Action will give you a little bit more action, will definitely give you more clarity. Action will give you a new belief system. So now I feel like I'm ranting, but God bless guys. Thank you so so much for tuning in.
