This single-episode podcast (episode #2 of a series) is hosted by Dr. Anne Truong, MD, and explains Peyronie’s disease: a connective-tissue/scar disorder of the tunica albuginea that creates penile nodules and curvature. The episode covers prevalence (spoken claim ~1 in 100 men), likely underdiagnosis, proposed causes (microtrauma and possible autoimmune links), symptoms (nodule/knot, curvature, pain, performance anxiety), diagnosis (recommendation for sexual-health evaluation and autoimmune bloodwork), and treatment options (Xiaflex injections, platelet-rich plasma/PRP injections, or surgery). The host also recommends vitamin supplementation (vitamin E and vitamin D3) and promotes a paid membership program (“Modern Man Club”) for further coaching and resources.

What is Peyronie's Disease? Peyronie's disease is a connective tissue disorder that causes a little plaque or little nodule on the penis that causes a curvature. It affects about 1 in 100 men, but likely, probably more is undiagnosed. So essentially it's almost related to trauma to the penis or maybe an autoimmune condition where you have little scar tissue that is actually present in the tunica albuginea, which is the fibrous fascia that lines the penis muscle, the corpus cavernosum. It started out as a scar that feels like a pimple or feels like a little right grain that is in your penis. So when you feel may or may not be uncomfortable, but it's there and sometime if left for a long time, the scar will get bigger and create a curvature, either a small curvature or large curvature and it really occur because of a micro injury that happened in the penis and about 20% of men will notice some type of injury but the really recall any type of incident that may cause that. Now depending on the curvature it may be uncomfortable for you and or your partner and sometimes because of the curvature of the penis it lead to more of situational anxiety or performance anxiety because you feel anxious or embarrassed about the curve to some degree. But the point is if you notice a little nodule or a knot in your penis, get it diagnosed, go see a sexual health expert and because it will get worse, it will create a more significant curvature. Now there is some treatment available for this. You can get a injection called Xiaflex injection by a urologist, withdraw the scar tissue or you can get an injection of platelet rich plasma PRP injected into the nodule to dissolve the nodule. There are less diatom effects with PRP compared to Xiaoflex. If the curvature is significant or the nodule is big, you may have to require surgery to correct the curvature. And because of the scar tissue and the curvature, a lot of men with peyronie also have ED as well. And it is associated with autoimmune disease. So most likely you need to get blood work tested to make sure that you don't have autoimmune disease, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis or other connective tissue disorder.

But it's also associated with micro injury to the penis as well. So the bottom line is Peyronie's is associated with ed. If you find that you have a nodule in your penis. Whether it hurt or doesn't hurt, you get it evaluated right away because chances are it may get worse and it will contribute to your ED and will cause a significant curvature in the future. And sometimes peyronie does happen, but we do know that it usually happens in men that has low vitamin E and also low vitamin D as in dog. So if you do have Peyronie's it's I would Recommend Vitamin E 1000 units and Vitamin D at least 5000 units and take vitamin D3 instead of D2. Now to find out more about peyronie and how you can treat it, go in the show notes and join the Modern Man Club where I will coach you on peyronie and how to restore performance again.
