I will show you lifestyle factors, supplements and scents that will entice the sexual senses. So make sure you stay tuned all the way to the end and we'll go over all these little tips that you need to know. Let's go over my seven S's for sexual health and wellness. Number one, have sex at least three to five times a week. Sleep, sustenance, sports, social support, stress reduction and the senses such as touch and smell. Let's talk about lifestyle management. Now do not underestimate the power of a healthy lifestyle. I mean lifestyle as in diet, exercise and the things that you do to keep you healthy. Now we do know that the natural progression of ED from good to worse, it's associated with increasing weight such as a BMI over 30 and smoking. Now, weight loss and stopping smoking as well as a heart. Healthy diet and exercise actually improve overall health and may even promote remission or even delaying the progression of ed. ED is a marker of asymptomatic heart disease or heart disease that doesn't have any type of symptoms that you can notice, such such as chest pain or shortness of breath. Now studies have shown that ED is a check engine marker for heart disease about 7 to 10 years down the road. Talk about lifestyle factors and how it relates to sexual activity. Increased sexual activity is correlating with physically active and having a solid social support as well as having a healthy diet. Decreased sexual activity correlate with sleeping difficulty, inactivity, depression and obesity or BMI over 30. Let's talk about diet. What type of diet should you be on that is healthy? Well, A heart healthy diet such as the Mediterranean diet and is the only one validated by research. It's a diet that's high in vegetables, fruit, legume, nuts, beans, cereal grains, fish, unsaturated fats such as olive oil. It includes usually low intake of meat, processed food, sugar and dairy food. So this diet pattern is rich in healthy plant food and low in animal food such as red meat, which I recommend about eating no more than once every two weeks and with a focus on healthy fish such as salmon and any fish you would like, as well as seafood. So numerous studies have shown that the Mediterranean diet can promote weight loss and at the same time prevent heart attack, strokes and type 2 diabetes and even premature death. Now, on the Mediterranean diet you're allowed to drink a glass of red wine a day and coffee as well as tea and, and even, perhaps even one cocktail a day. And cocktail is probably about one and a half ounces of liquor. So go to the show note to get some more information about the Mediterranean diet. Exercise. Let's talk about exercise. You don't have to go to the gym. You can actually do it at home. And you can do high intensity exercises which is using weight and your body weight. You can do it for about 180 minutes a week, which is really about three hours a day. You can do it every other day. And the benefits of exercise are numerous. It reduces stress, improves self esteem, improve your heart endurance, improve muscle endurance and as well as flexibility, improve blood flow to the genital area as well as preparing the body for sexual responsiveness. Now how do you reduce stress? We know that stress activate the fight or flight mechanism in the body. So when your body is in an emergency state, it doesn't bring blood flow to your genital area at all. It makes sense, right? Because when you're in a fight or flight state, you want to run away from what's threatening you and you want to put all that blood flow to the extremity and to your emergency senses. So when you're in stress, there's increased cortisol hormone that is released. And the cortisol hormone actually lower testosterone. And testosterone as we know is a hormone that is involved with libido and with erection. And it also cortisol will also alternate serotonin. And serotonin is a fuel me a good hormone as well as dopamine and epinephrine. So the overall effect is that it leads to decreased libido and eventually ed. Now I'll talk more about stress and cortisone all in more Detail in upcoming episodes. The main thing about sexual activity is that focus on more of pleasure focus with the sexual experience than actually performing. Because when you actually, when you think about performance it gives you anxiety if you're not able to perform. But if you think about giving pleasure for your partner and focus on communication, it will take the stress out of the sexual act itself. So thing to focus on is kissing, doing erotic massage, toys, role play, oral sex and hugging and fantasy roles as well as novel activity. Add a little spice into the bedroom. Next is aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is a scent of sexuality. So the organ that detects sex pheromones in animal is called the vulnerable nasal organ or vno. It's a tiny little organ that also exists in human and exists inside your nasal cavity. So these pheromones are produced after puberty and when mate selection begins and it actually decreased during menopause. Pheromones are focused in, they're produced in the apocrine gland and they're located in the armpit, the pubic hair region and in the area such as the urine, the saliva and sweat. So sexually exciting smell. These are the scent that is exciting for men such as vanilla donut scent, black licorice, pumpkin pie, sweet cinnamon, orange, popcorn, chocolate and lily of the valley. And these are the scent that is sexually exciting for women. Vanilla, patchouli, musk, peppermint, yanglang, jasmine, baby powder, cucumber, licorice and lavender. Next, let's talk about vitamin therapy. What vitamins are good for sexual health? Number one, B vitamins. These help in decreasing the production of prolactin, which is a hormone that stimulates testosterone uptake by the prostate. So it produces mainly the result is reduced in reduces the sex drive. So when you have low B vitamin, it may affect your sex drive. Vitamin A. So this vitamin is involved in the synthesis or creation of sex hormone, mainly the progesterone. So it regulates sexual growth and development as well as turning on the genes in response to sexual hormone triggers. It actually assists in healthy sperm production. Vitamin C is an antioxidant. It is involved in the creation of collagen and the norepinephrine and and it participate in hormones of sex and fertility, mainly in testosterone, estrogen and progesterone. And it's also involved in controlling semen volume as well. And vitamin C is also involved in nitric oxide production. Vitamin E, another antioxidant and is actually referred to as the C sex vitamin because it increases libido and it plays a big role in sex hormone in the cell membrane producing the sex hormone as well as protecting against oxidative damage by the free radicals. Magnesium is another vitamin that help with sex drive as well and also regulate libido and selenium. So this vitamin is an antioxidant and it help with libido. Zinc is needed for raising the healthy production of sperm and testosterone and we know that healthy testosterone level mean healthy sex drive. So in the show notes I will put a link to where you can go and order good quality supplements and vitamins that I talk about today so you can start making 2022 a good year.
