This is a YouTube video titled "Hiring Your Spouse #doctor" containing a monologue or single-speaker discussion recorded in January 2025. The speaker explains the benefits of hiring a spouse in a business context, focusing on retirement benefits, health coverage, and potential business deductions, emphasizing the importance of treating the spouse as a legitimate employee.
Why do you want to hire your spouse? Do you want retirement benefits? Are they working and they're complaining that they're not getting paid? You know, the benefits around it are retirement. I mean, that's usually the biggest benefit that I see. You know, not only are they getting an employee deferral, but there's also an employer contribution that can come into the mix depending upon the type of retirement plan. They could also be eligible for health coverage as well, and other benefits such as dental or vision dependent care benefits. But one of the main reasons why I like it, not just for, obviously, the retirement plan purposes, but you can also start writing off some of their personal expenses as business deductions, such as any of their travel expenses if they need a new computer or if they writing off their cell phone. But you just have to make sure that you're treating them like a legitimate employee.
