This is a YouTube video titled "Is Becoming a Doctor Worth the Student Loans?" containing a personal narrative from March 17, 2025, where the speaker discusses the financial considerations and emotional journey related to taking on significant student loan debt for medical education, reflecting on different perspectives about debt and the value of the medical profession.
When I finally opened up the acceptance letter, I was thinking, wait a minute, I'm going to how much debt to get this education? So that's when I really started diving into it more and really learning a lot more. And my wife and I just again, wanted to make a very intentional effort that, like, yes, we're going to be taking out student loans. We're going to be going on this journey together, and we want to set ourselves up by doing at least the big things the right way. And student loans, about 270,000. It definitely hurt a little bit, but I don't know, learning a lot of different perspectives between, you know, the white coat investor, things like, I will teach you to be rich. A couple of other sources kind of showed me that it's not just that there's one way that there's completely, you know, debt aversion. There's a lot of different ways to get to where you want to go, and there's just so much good that you can do in this profession and a lot of wonderful things that you can do with the income that you'll eventually get. So it made it worth it.
