This is a YouTube video titled "Rent vs. Buy During Residency" containing a monologue or talk discussing the challenges and considerations medical students face when deciding whether to rent or buy a house during their residency period. The speaker reflects on their long experience advising medical students over the past 15 years.
The rent versus buy question. Boy, I've talked about this for years. I've been trying to talk medical students who are graduating from medical school out of buying houses now for at least 15 years. I'm not very successful at it. It doesn't work very often. It doesn't matter what I say, they still buy houses. The good news is sometimes that works out fine. I figure on average about a third of the time it works out fine in a three year residency and about half the time in a five year residency.
