This is a YouTube video titled "Roadblocks to Women Gaining Financial Literacy" containing a discussion between two speakers about the challenges women face in acquiring financial literacy, including societal taboos, lack of relatable educators, and early educational disparities. The content was created in April 2024 and focuses on making financial education more approachable and community-oriented for women.
The biggest problem, the biggest roadblock for women gaining financial literacy? What would it be?
There are a few. It starts young. So the first is that parents are more likely to talk to their sons about money than they are their daughters. So this starts young with just, you know, lack of education. The second is that women learn best in community and from each other. And since money is still so taboo, it's really. It's one of those last topics that's really hard to talk about with your friends, with your peers. So we miss out on that way of learning. And then I'd say third, there aren't a ton of great relatable teachers that women would want to learn from in the personal finance space. You look at the examples that there are today, it's either, you know, stodgy or intimidating or, you know, frankly boring. So that's what Dow Jane's does differently. We make it approachable, we make it relatable, we try to make it enjoyable for people to learn about money.
