Hey, guys. My name is Dr. Lara. I'm here with Scout. This is Scout's first visit. And so Scout is a little puppy. She is a Labrador and poodle mix, otherwise known as a labradoodle. And so she's coming in today just for her puppy visit. But the main topic for today we're going to be talking about are the teeth and why her teeth are why your dog's teeth are so sharp. Puppy have these really sharp teeth. They're baby teeth. And if you guys look, you can see, let's see here. See how sharp they'll be. Very, very pointy. And so what ends up happening is they use those teeth when they're smaller, but around four to five months of age, most dogs are going to lose those baby teeth and those teeth will go ahead and fall out and the adult teeth will start coming in. So that's one of the. One of the ways a lot of times that we will age puppies is we will go ahead and get a good idea of how old they are. Some of the breeders or puppy stores, sometimes they might try to maybe make them seem like they're a little older because some of these people want their dogs to only be a certain size. And so the thought process is if. If they're older, then that means that they're less likely to go ahead and be bigger. But with the teeth and baby teeth in general, you also want to be aware that if they break those baby teeth, you do want to get that treated. It can be painful. It doesn't matter if that's a baby tooth or an adult tooth. It is something that is going to need treatment because it is an exposed root and it is an exposed nerve, and it can be very painful. So at the end of the day, the key thing to know is those puppy teeth will not last forever. They won't be as sharp once they come out. 4 to 5 months of age is the time that they typically lose those baby teeth and the adult teeth start coming in.
