Kevin Harrington, original Shark Tank investor, interviews Kobe Potter about their new book Building Wealth, Building Legacy. Kobe built a real-estate empire in 1994 with a mortgage company, RE/MAX franchise, and title firm, then lost it all in 2008. He pivoted to hard-money lending and founded Global Integrity, sharing lessons on resilience and wealth-building tactics in the book.
Hi, I'm Kevin Harrington. I'm an original Shark from the hit TV show Shark Tank. And with me today is Kobe Potter, co-author of our book Building Wealth, Building Legacy. Kobe, great to have you. Kevin, how are you, sir? All right. Honored to be here. It's— we had a lot of fun doing this book. It's a blast. And I want to thank you for being a co-author. But you have a company, Global Integrity. We're going to talk about that in one second. Tell me a little bit about yourself for those to understand.
You bet. So I live in Dallas, came from Oklahoma. Father of two, two grandkids, two kids, married for 30 years. Live on a ranch up there in Texas and, you know, live the dream. Went through many, many trials and tribulations in finance and in real estate. As you know, had a big turbulence in 2008. Refocused, rebuilt, restabilized, and then went through COVID.
So what are folks going to learn from your chapter in this book? So it's a highlight.
Yeah, the highlight is, is that in the real estate industry, as we mentioned earlier, we had a big empire and we started in 1994. Built it up with a mortgage company, a RE/MAX franchise, a title company, an appraisal company. And then we had the crash of 2008. I went down. We could have given up, we could have quit, but we pivoted, refocused, and went into the hard money lending.
We're going to say thanks for being here today and listening to myself and Toby Potter, our new book, Building Wealth and Building Legacy. Toby Green. Kevin, an honor. Thank you. My pleasure. Thank you.
