7 Jan 2025 · 18 min
Dr. Pete Camiolo and Dr. Steven Fransen introduce the 2025 theme: New Wine Skins. The core principle of chiropractic stays the same, but the business container must evolve. They walk through what breaks if your practice doubles or you take 90 days off.

What would happen if the demand doubled? If new patients doubled, converted patients doubled? What would happen if your volume doubled? What. What would happen, Dr. Pete, if you the size of your team doubled? What would break.
Hello and welcome to the Remarkable CEO Podcast, a show dedicated to chiropractors who want to transform their job into a business so that they can have a remarkable practice as part of a remarkable life, not instead of one.
With your hosts, Dr. Pete Camiolo and Dr. Steven Fransen.
Welcome to another episode of the Remarkable CEO Podcast, Chiropractic's number one business podcast. I am Dr. Pete Camiolo.
And I'm Dr. Steven Fransen.
We are thrilled to be with you today. Thank you for joining us on our remarkable journey. Dr. Stephen it's hard to believe, but we are doing another theme of the year episode. That's right. And we have now been doing this podcast. We started recording this in 2019 is when we started recording our first episodes. I still remember the very first episode actually wasn't even in my own studio. I was in my brother in law Dave's studio. And I remember that and I'll never forget that. I'm so thrilled that, you know, we've had an opportunity to do year after year after year of themes for the years. And it's amazing how those themes for the years were always birthed from inspiration. We always came on the same page. We've never had to wrestle it down and argue and do all those things that what we think the theme should be. It was always, there's just an ease about it. There was always like a grace about it. There was always a unity about it. And we have that again this year. So if y' all remember our theme for 2024, how many of you remember that? Show of hands, right? I don't know who's watching. But, you know, our theme in 2024 was readiness, right? And we unpacked that and it was an amazing year in 2024 because we knew that it was going to. We needed to be ready. What does it mean to be ready? Right? What, what does that look like? And so we applied that to our five domains. We looked at your each part of your. Of your business in terms of the what readiness factor, you know, and, and readiness is a, is a prerequisite to growth, right? It's a prerequisite for that. And, and so there's a readiness factor. There's a lot that goes into being ready. What does it mean to be ready? So that was our theme last year. We spent the year really Unpacking that and, and, and then working through that through your businesses with you. So this year we have another theme and I'll share a little story. So, received a message from one of our awesome brothers, colleagues, a leader in our profession, an amazing human being, Dr. Terry Harmon. So, Dr. Terry, if you're listening to the podcast now, you love the podcast and we love you. But he shared with me a message and it really was a conviction. He had, he had just finished a workout. I could hear it in his voice, like he had just been pushing. And he said, man, this thing's been coming over and over and over again and I just need to share it with you. And he said, my, my, my message is really, I'm, I'm concerned about our profession and about the chiropractic profession. He's been a chiropractor for dec, you know, better part of a quarter of a decade or quarter of a century. And he, he just shared his concerns and he talked about how, you know, the old, the old ways, the, the old, it's like an old wine skin. And he said it can't handle, you know, what the future holds. And, and this is a guy who's very spiritually rooted and, and really has an incredible vision for our profession and for people and serves people at a high level. And when he shared with me, I could just sense that it was, it was, it was spot on. And I felt it and I have the same conviction. And so he said, it's, it's, it's not, we're not going to be able to handle the, the future with what we have had in the past. It has to be different. And he said he wanted to encourage me and Dr. Steven that what you guys are doing is that. And he said, and he could see it because he's been with us in our program for many years. He said, you're, it's all about the wine skin. You, if you put the, the, basically the theme is if you put old, new wine, like let's say the new year of 2025, and what's going to be poured out this year, what's. What you're about to receive this year from above, down inside out, what you receive into an old wineskin, that wineskin will burst. And what he was saying as a profession, as a whole, there's this old, there's an old wine skin, there's a remnant of this, and if we don't get a new wine skin, it's going to burst and you're not going to be able we're not going to move forward. So that that image, you know, that theme for me is very powerful and personal, Dr. Stephen, because actually, a lot of the inspiration for the CEO program, I know in my store and your story as well, was I felt through prayer, a lot of time in prayer and a lot of coaching and things I'd been through, that there needed to be a new wine skin for this profession. And that's really a lot of what stirred in us in this missing seasons of the four seasons, this third season was missing in chiropractic, the scale season. And we didn't even recognize the significance of what that would mean when we started just unpacking that. But my goodness, was it spot on. And that's what Dr. Terry was saying. He's like, man, the. The things that you guys are doing and. And is so important for the future of our profession that we love. And it's so important that we have decided, Dr. Stephen, that the theme for this year is it's new wine skin. It's all about the wine skin. And so whether you drink wine or not, this has nothing to do with it. This has everything to do with being a chiropractor and stewarding chiropractic as we move forward. And so, Dr. Stephen, cat's out of the bag. I'd love to. I know you're going to jump in on. Jump all over this, and we're going to spend some time today wrestling this down. But, man, I'm excited to be able to go into this new year to receive the new wine that's coming and to be able to have the wineskin that can handle it.
Man, you know, I love a good metaphor. So thank you. Dr. Terry is like, we're trying to put our finger on the promise of 2025.
And.
And how do we frame this in a way where people are encouraged yet aware of what we're facing, you know, and what we're facing now is just an incredible opportunity, which is extraordinary.
Right.
So. Which I'm excited about that. And yes, I love wine as much as I love metaphors.
Right.
And I love this, how this all comes together with another love that I have, which is for chiropractic in the principle of chiropractic and. And sharing Dr. Terry's spiritual grounding and just recognizing all of this comes together so everything's integrated. My goal is to live a fully integrated life, so this can be a fully integrated message today. So, because when we're talking about wine in the wineskin, you know, this. There's There's a lot of confusion in the Marketplace right now, Dr. Pete. Even when I said it was like, hey, we have this old way of doing things, like this old model. It's this old wide skin. And, you know, the old wine skin is not going to be able to be the container we'll need for the new wine that's coming in 2025. This is like, I just want to make sure people didn't drift in their mind being like, yeah, man, it's all about, we need to start adding a whole bunch of stuff. Like, so we got to make sure, you know, I'm going to go integrated and I'm going to bring in functional. I'm going to bring in all these modalities, whatever, and I'm not throwing shade over any of it, guys. So I know everybody listening to this. There's a lot of ways to skin this cat. There's a lot of ways people are practicing chiropractic and having a chiropractic wellness business. We respect and love all of that, right? So. But today's message is not about diversifying your offering and bringing in, you know, all these other accoutrement or the, you know, the side hustle conversation that's all rampant around our profession. I'd love to be able to have a principled conversation right now, however you deliver chiropractic. Let's talk about chiropractic. And recognizing that we are nowhere near our potential as chiropractors delivering chiropractic. We have not exhausted that by any stretch of the imagination. And like you hear us say over and over, what the world needs now is chiropractic. And what chiropractic needs right now is more successful chiropractors. So what I see in the new wine of 2025 is the new demand that the profession, the industry, is going to see from humanity, right? So as we expand our reach as. As we expand our awareness in the community, as we expand in cultural authority, this Make America healthy Again movement that's taking the country by storm right now. We are positioned so perfectly better than ever to step into our righteous position in chiropractic where we belong in chiropractic, right? So to truly be the health and wellness experts, right? So third tier healthcare, this is what we've been teeing up and getting ready for, right? Is this opportunity. But the vine is the same. The vine is still in the ground. The same ground, like the vine of the chiropractic prince, is steeped and rooted in the principle of chiropractic that's producing the grapes that will produce the wine. The vine is the same. We don't need a new vine.
We have to recognize the wine skin is the container so that the container that will carry the wine to, to humanity. Right. So what we're talking about, Dr. Pete, is the way that we deliver chiropractic may not change from a practice, clinical perspective. The principles, the principle above, down inside out, remove interference, let the body do what it does best, heal and get back to health and maintain its health. That, that story is the same story, right? So what we're talking about is the container. We're talking about the practice and the business that, that delivers chiropractic. And it is going to, we are ready to go to the next iteration of what that looks like. We're, we've been nicknamed chiropractics graduate school. You know, in the remarkable practice, we're grad school. Right. So this conversation is a grad school conversation. And I'd like to pose a question. When we look forward into 2025 with the demand that we are promised right now, with the position that we're in right now to capitalize on the next. I'll call it four years, maybe 12. Right? So we're in a position right now where we're going to see the industry growing. Here's a convicting question I have, and I'd love to be able to take our conversation in this direction. We've had the conversation. What would happen if you took 90 days off in your practice, in your business as an owner, if you took 90 days off, what would break?
I'd like to pose a different question. Going into 2025, looking at the promise of this next year to four years, what would happen if your practice doubled? What would break? What would happen if the demand doubled? If new patients doubled, converted patients doubled? What would happen if your volume doubled? What would happen? Dr. Pete, if the size of your team doubled? What would break? I think it's a great way for us to look into the future and recognize that we do have points of exposure here. And it gives us an opportunity to create an action plan to, to reconcile those points of exposure.
What's up, remarkables? Hey, let's face it. 95% of our problems are people problems. You can't find a players, can't keep a players. Don't know how to leverage your team, create expectations and agreements or hold people accountable in order to optimize your team. Doc, what would happen to your practice if you were finally able to get the Right people in the right seats, doing the right work, the right way. For most chiropractors, it would change everything. You'd increase your capacity to see more people. You'd make a bigger impact and a bigger income. You'd be able to delegate and scale your business. Or maybe you need to get your associate relationship dialed in. That would mean you get your time freedom back. You could get a handle on your schedule, maybe even become a CEO. If this is what you want you your 2025 to sound like, make sure that you join us for the remarkable team building immersion in Tampa, Florida January 31 and February 1. You did a project years ago which some of you maybe know about, maybe even participate in, if you're listening, called Project Double. I really believe that there is a. And I shared this in a previous episode when I, when I shared about capacity and how important it is to calculate capacity and recognizing that there's more room for growth and, and Dr. Steven, you're spot on. I think that the question what would break, you know, if you took 90 days off? And that's a really good place to start. But you, that's not the question you're going to ask long term. The long, the, the growth question long term. And what our, our theme is for this year is what would happen and break if you doubled. Everything doubled. And I'm going to say here right now, because I believe this is true, it should double and I believe it will and it has the potential to do so. You have the potential to double. It may not happen in the year of 2025 for you, but I believe that that's what's coming next for our profession. If we say what percent of humanity are we currently serving? I believe we have the opportunity to double. If we said that and then I said, well how would we double? How will we serve? Double? I hope we get a lot of hands raised saying send them to me like we, we can handle it. Like we're ready, we've built it, we're ready. If you build it, they'll come kind of thing. Like you've got to make the investments that are needed to put your business in a position to double. You have to be committed to that. That has to be your conviction. We say the vision, right? We're pulled by that, we're pulled into it. So the vision of being able to double and what would that require us? Our purpose, it pushes us so we are, we're moving into this. And that's, that's. Dr. Stephen this idea that there's wine, the wine skin, the container is what we're talking about. Not the message, the message of chiropractic. The simple and elegant message of chiropractic doesn't need to change, right? That doesn't change. That's that vine. That's what we've been entrusted with, the sacred trust. It's the container. And that looks like your attraction. There's a container for attraction. There's components of that. There's primary functions of attraction. There's a.
To double your internal new patient attraction function. What would that look like in 2025, moving forward? To double your external marketing function and functionality. Effectiveness, efficiency, organization, structure, accountability. To be able to do that externally, what, what does that look like digitally? Same question, just looking at the first domain. Dr. Steven if we did that, if we went through each one of the domains on the accountability grid, to be honest, we should. And if you don't have an accountability grid, we're going to add that to our show notes here. So make sure you get that. We use this framework and we use it quarterly with all of our CEOs. It's a regular, it's a best practice, it's how we make it a data driven conversation and we look at it through the lens of accountability. Who owns this as well as is it optimized, which is the functionality? And we, we use this framework for that. So if that's something that you could do going into 2025, which I know you could, you should do. So we're going to put the accountability grade in the, in the show notes. So, Dr. Stephen, where I want us to be able to answer this question, you know, what would happen if your practice doubles? What would break through this lens of your, the five domains, the 15 primary functions of your business. Now what's important now, what's important next? What important ultimately? Okay, so if we live in that frame, which is what CEOs do, we operate in three frames of time now, next and ultimately. So if the next 12 months is, is 2025, now will be the next 90 days, what is going to be our highest priorities right now? So if we're saying ultimately we're going to double, well, what's going to be important next and what's important now? I'm going to say this actually. We got to go right back to square one. Attraction, conversion, retention, your team and your business office, we got to start there. Yeah.
So we promised we were going to keep this brief, right, because we're giving you homework, right? So this is a homework assignment. This is not, you know, we don't give suggestions, we make recommendations just like you do with your patients. So if you're looking to optimize your 20, 25 and beyond as a CEO, we do take a three year view of our business. Right. So you are, you are the vision caster, Right. So this is literally your role in the village.
You've got to be able to cast.
The vision and like Dr. Pete always says, visions are caught, they're not taught.
Right.
So you've got to be able to cast a clear and compelling vision. You got to be able to look three years ahead. So a remarkable CEO has a three year view of their business. They have a one year vision story that they cast to their team. So they have total clarity of it. And we have a three month action plan. This exercise that we're asking you to do is going to give you the bones, right? So it's, you've got to flesh this out, right? So you've got to flesh out you. Using this accountability grid, you go through each of the 15 primary functions of the business and just simply as a CEO, as a visionary, you need to sit with this, this is a great journaling activity, right, to be able to say, okay, so if this business doubled, what would break? Right? So looking ahead, it's going to, it's going to show you your, where are the capacity blocks, it's going to show you where you have constraints in the business. You'll tell you where your points of exposure, the toxicities and deficiencies that are interfering with your business actually being able to sustainably diversify. Double right? So Dr. Pete, I think it's a great lens, it's a great place to just start our year off and end this episode. Download the accountability grid. Now let's get ourselves into the position to take full advantage of the opportunities that we are looking straight down the barrel of right now. In the next year to four years, maybe 12 years. Position yourself, your practice, your team, your business so that you can optimize and, and take full advantage of the opportunities that we have right now. As the world embraces the concept of make America healthy again. You know that it's going to start with your clinic, your service with chiropractic at the, at the center of it in your community. Hey Doc, Steven Fransen here. If you're like me, you know that we're in the business of saving lives. And when business is good, everybody wins. That's the good news behind. But here's the bad news. Most chiropractors don't own a business at all. They own a job. It's a job they love, but it's a job. And far too often it feels like that job owns them. Is this true for you? Do you own a business or a job? Have you built and do you run your practice on brute force? Does it rely fully on your time, your effort? A pound of your flesh? Are you responsible for all growth, for all new patient generation? How about new patient conversions? Is it all up to you? How about patient care and delivery? Are you a sole practitioner, an owner operator who owns the practice but is also the only one that is head down and bum up taking care of all the patients? Is revenue generation or collections all up to you? Let me ask you the most telling question, Doc. What would happen if you took 90 days off? What breaks in my experience, most on purpose chiropractors do not lay awake at night worrying about their practice. They worry about their business. Let's slay that dragon. The remarkable CEO program has helped hundreds of chiropractors just like you turn the job that they love into the business that they've always wanted. Are you ready to run and build your practice on leverage? And instead of brute force, do you want to create the scalability and durability that will allow you to make a bigger impact and a bigger income? What would it mean to grow your practice, increase your productivity and your profitability? Do you want to get your time freedom back? Are you ready to turn your pirate ship into a battleship? If this sounds like you, then the remarkable CEO program is for you. Just last year, 53 of our remarkable clients received the Seven Figures Figure Club award. Meaning they hit the million dollar mark for the first time or their next million dollar level, be it 2 million, 3 million, 10 million, up to 36 million and growing. Now, Doc, is it crazy to imagine that your practice could be next? Click the link below and learn how to apply for the next cohort of the Remarkable CEO program. We look forward to working closely with you and creating the business that supports your remarkable life, not competes with it.
