Do you have a three generation perspective? Perspective is an enormous word, right? It is literally the filter, right? It's the lens through which you look at all things, right? So do you have a three generation perspective? Right. So let's, let's get away from naval gazing as to, you know, how does this impact me in this moment? Because that's your lizard brain, right? That's lower brain, lower level thought, thinking visionaries. We have a fiduciary responsibility and a moral obligation to have a three generation perspective, okay? So we need to be thinking back three generations and forward three generations. Dr. Pete, I know you do this so innately inside your family, but let's talk about how it happens in your family and it also happens in your practice with the families that you get to take care of. And then also, you know, when it comes to, you know, looking just. Just looking at chiropractic as a profession.
Hello and welcome to the Remarkable CEO Podcast, a show dedicated to chiropractors who want to transform their job into a business so that they can have a remarkable practice as part of a remarkable life, not instead of one. With your hosts, Dr. Pete Camiolo and Dr. Steven Fransen.
What's up, remarkables? Welcome to another episode of the remarkable CEO podcast, Chiropractic's number one business podcast. I'm Dr. Steven Fransen.
And I'm Dr. Pete Camiolo.
Hey, guys. Happy Holy Week. I don't know when you're listening to this, but, you know, it's. Every Friday is special because we get to be in the studio and connecting with all y', all, but this is a really special week. I love this holiday, Dr. Pete, for so many reasons, right? So what a, what a time for us to be reminded of how much he loves us, what he did for us, and what our. Our eternal perspective of life is and how we get to serve this mission and being trusted with this mission field, man, it's just invigorating. And I'm totally energized this week. I'm also excited to see my family. My boy Sam's coming home tonight. Can't wait to see Sammy boy coming back from liberty. And then, you know, we all pile over to my mom's house. I'm blessed that I've got this really incredible extended family. We love to spend time together. We're that family that loves each other and actually likes each other. So we're talking about maybe going to Lexington conquer to see the reenactment of the original. You know, the whites of their eyes battle in the battlefield in Lexington that, you know, just was very early in the Revolutionary War. It's just an incredible story to watch that walked out and lived out. Gonna do that with our family. So, man, we've got a lot going on this weekend, and I'm gonna kick it off with an awesome podcast session with you, brother.
Yeah, man, it's awesome to be together, and I'm grateful that we get to do this today. And I was thinking about our topic for today, which is the power of three. And I was just thinking about that because I think about, you know, if. Even if you just think about Jesus's life, what he was able to accomplish in just three years.
Talk about the power of three. And I was thinking about that, like in three years and then what he accomplished in three days.
And, you know, I don't know where that landed in terms of some of your inspiration, but I was inspired just thinking about the three. And there's lots more threes. But I was thinking about a picture I recently came across, my feed of me with my dad and my brothers, and then our kids, our boys, all at a Yankees game. And I was thinking about that. I was thinking, man, that's generations. That's three generations of people doing something that we love. And I was thinking about what you were talking about when we were chatting before today's recording started about what we were going to be discussing. As you know, if you've listened to us in the past, Dr. Steve and I, we get together in a studio and we get inspired throughout the week. And then we say, hey, what are you moved by? What are you inspired by? And then that's how we come up with our topic. So it's super organic, it's very raw, it's very relevant, it's very real, and it's very right now. And so, you know, I was thinking about that and my family and just thinking about the generations of passing on, let's say, rooting for a team. And I thought, man, what if. What else can we pass on? You know, what if as chiropractors, we could pass on health? The way that, you know, maybe we pass on rooting for a team, it's like, do we pass on these traditions around holidays? We do a great job of that. Awesome. Some of us maybe did haven't done as good of a job of that. Okay. But thinking about that, Dr. Steven, I know we're going to talk about the power of three, and as a leader, you know, what is your role in this as a visionary? We're speaking to you as a visionary. We're speaking to you as somebody who is accountable for the vision. You're accountable to lead the team. You're accountable to prioritize what's important. Now, next, ultimately. And we think about ultimately, oftentimes we think about Dr. Steven just in three years, one years and then 90 days. But today, we're going to expand your vision. We're going to. We're going to take the visionary in you. We're going to do one of these, like, hey, man, take your glasses, like, wow, like I did. You're making me look further out. So we're going to. And then we're also going to make you not only look further out, we're going to actually make you look further in.
Yeah, we're going to take you through.
The full scope today. Dr. Steven, I know you're inspired here, and I'm looking forward to just jamming on this with this awesome group of listeners, which, by the way, if you're new to listening to the show, welcome to the CEO podcast. Super pumped to have you join us. If you've been listening for any length of time, welcome back. Just super grateful to be able to get this time with you each and every week.
Yeah, 100%. And, Dr. Pete, I think I'd be remiss if I didn't remind people we're here for you, right? So I don't think we say that enough. Like, guys, we're here for you. Like, we have the privilege of working with thousands of chiropractors, right? So we have this incredible platform to reach so many kairos and hundreds and hundreds of our coaching clients that we get to work with very intimately, right? So we just want to invite you into that conversation. So if you know any. If this message today, really any of our messages resonate with you, and you're like, yeah, you know what? I need help with that. Right? So, man, I would love you to walk it out and talk it out with me. We're available for you, Right? So you'll see there's a link down below. You can jump on our schedule. Very happy to connect with you guys. So don't hesitate to do that. Right? So just, just know that this is, you know, a big purpose of this podcast is to give you lots to think about, right? So this is a teaching opportunity for us, and teaching changes what you think, right? So it's just like, what do you think about? What do you know? Right? So if you want to get connected to maybe work on how you think that's a Coaching conversation. And we're here for you for that. So, Dr. V, we're talking about one of my, you know, one of my favorite. It's a combination of two of my favorite things. Like I love frameworks and I love clarity, right? So this is the clarity to the power of three framework. Oh, man. It's like this is. This is like catnip to me. It's like, if you're a visionary, this is for you, right? So clarity to the power of three is a framework. And frameworks just organize our thoughts, right? So it's just so important that if you are a visionary that, you know, there's a process. First you have to get clarity, right? So you've got to be super clear in your own mind. But as the vision caster, not the vision host or vision creator, you're the vision caster, you've got to be able to cast the vision, right? So that means you need to create clarity for everyone around you that you'll need to recruit into the mission, right? So. And this is a really important and treacherous step in this process, right? You might have everything crystal clear in your mind. If that's you, congratulations.
Right?
But you've got to be able to convey it to those people that you'll need to recruit, right? So otherwise you have a job and you're just hiring a bunch of assistants around you, right? So but if you want to recruit a world class team, you want to mobilize that team and you want to really, truly leverage that team. If you really want to make the ascension to CEO, which is this conversation, you've got to become a vision caster. And I love what you say on this is visions are caught, they're not taught, right? So you've got to be able to cast a vision in a compelling way. It's got to be a clear and compelling casting of a vision, right? So people have got to see and feel what you're talking about, right? So it's the feel piece of it you hear me leaning in on, right? So it's got to be a clear and compelling vision, right? So ultimately, clarity is the greatest accelerant. And we know that that is true because wherever you lack clarity, there is friction slowing you down and you are pumping the brakes, right? As a just survival mechanism, right? So when you have clarity, what do you do? Man, you get those legs moving and grinding. It's just like, man, I got my eyes on the target. Let me ring the bell, Dr. Pete. I'm super stoked to have this power of three. Framework. We're going to go super high level and we're going to zoom all the way down to ptc.
Yeah, I want to talk about the catching and not teaching. So visions are caught, not taught. So let's talk about that for a minute. So a vision is a condition of the heart more than it is the head. You have to start at the heart. We always teach the framework of it's heart, head, hands, feet. The reason why visions are caught, not taught is because you can talk to somebody all day and it can go in one ear and out the other and they didn't get it. You've been that person where that's happened to you. It's whether you're the speaker or you're the listener, things are being taught but they're not being understood. The whole idea is that your vision is something that must be caught. Otherwise it's just in one ear and out the other and nothing changes. Right. It's the same story, different day. And like you said, Dr. Steven, the tale of the owner operator. What we found is that just one of the dysfunctions, the common dysfunctions of a leader that creates this breaks down and keeps you in this stuck as an owner operator in the job is that you own your vision, you know it, but you're the only one. And that's, that is a, it's a, it is a dead end road. It doesn't, there's nowhere you can go beyond that. You have to. Until you are able to recruit or share your vision and recruit people and they have clarity and they understand, then it's, you're still going to be unequally yoked. You're still going to feel like you're carrying this thing on your back. And technically you are. And so it's, it's a thing where. Dr. Steven if we think, well, I want to think about the scorecard and the KPIs around the scorecard, that's what's going to help me feel like I delegated the business. I'm just going to say this right now. That's next. That comes later. If they don't have the vision first, then they're just going through the motions trying to do the actions on their scorecard. That's also not the, that is not it either. It, it's so important that we, we recruit and we surround ourselves with people who have caught the vision. We talk about getting the right people in the right roles, right work, right way. This is about the right person. This is that first thing we got to get right is do they buy into your vision story? Buying literally to me is like, where's your wallet? Like, I'm going to pay for that because I want to be a part of that. That's the energy exchange. Like, I'm going to put in my limited resources, my time, my energy, my focus, my gifts, my talents to see us go and achieve that thing, that outcome, which I'm sure you're gonna experience this weekend. When you go with your family to the that Revolutionary War experience, it's like people bought in. You know what, they bought in with their life. They saw something that they were willing to die for so that people they never even were gonna have, never met would have a potential to have something that they, they see that that would be possible. That's vision. Who would do that? Who would lay their life down? You have to have a vision. So, Dr. Stephen, this is the most important thing. It's the first side of the Rubik's Cube. It's the first side when you go all the way around to hit the top again, it's still the first side. It keeps staying at the top. It's always where we start. So this is a visionary conversation today. And there couldn't be a more important time in our history or even a day where that we could be recording then today, 100%.
So let's share this framework. This is a framework that we both use and we continue to refine. Let's face it like, so guys, we just, just so you know that we are not pontificating from the mountaintop.
Okay?
So you're talking to two guys that are in the trenches, going and growing. Like, we, you know, when we talk about team meeting on Monday, guess raise your hand if you're going to be at the team meeting on Monday. This is like, it's like, yeah, there'll be team meeting on Monday, right? So when we're talking about the scoreboard and the scorecards and the K guys was like, yeah, well, yeah, guys, we are full on in the throws of this, right? So all of the marketing challenges and the team challenges and the conversion ch and the retention churn rate challenges that you guys are fight. Yeah, raise your hand. It's like, so guys, we are in the thick of it, right? And, and we are stoked because we are made for a time such as this. This is literally what we are here for. And you're looking at a couple of people who are equal parts rabid clinicians and passionate entrepreneurial business people, right? So you're talking to the right Guys, right, so here's the framework that I feel is going to help create enormous clarity for all of you as to how to get your head around this future pacing and vision casting. That is your role in the vision in the village, right? So first we start with like a three generational perspective. And I want you to underline the word perspective, okay? So we're going to give you some power words here. You know how we're wordsmithing things. Words matter, right? So do you have a three generation perspective? Perspective is an enormous word, right? It is literally the filter, right? It's the lens through which you look at all things, right? So do you have a three generation perspective? Right. So let's, let's get away from navel gazing as to, you know, how does this impact me in this moment? Because that's your lizard brain, right? That's lower brain, lower level thought thinking visionaries. We have a fiduciary responsibility and a moral obligation to have a three generation perspective. Okay? So we need to be thinking back three generations and forward three generations. Dr. Pete, I know you do this so innately inside your family, but let's talk about how it happens in your family and it also happens in your practice with the families that you get to take care of. And then also, you know, when it comes to, you know, looking, just, just looking at chiropractic as a profession, right? So it was like, and you're. Where are you in this season of the chiropractic profession? Because you're, you're part of that story, right? So the larger story of chiropractic, right? So first, and when it comes to like three generations, it's easy to think back and be like my gr. My grandparents, my parents and then my siblings and myself and my spouse every time. Then we have our kids and we, we'll have our grandkids, right? And our great kids. Like having this three generational perspective, looking back and looking forward, it's, it creates a dimension of, of consideration. Like when you're just like, listen, I've got a legacy that I have been privileged to, right? So it's just like I've, I've inherited this good, bad and the ugly, right? So it's all come down to this point and I'm just so grateful that all of the challenges and the, all the failures and all the stresses and struggles that, that my grandfather went through and my father went through and I'm just going to, I'm just going to go on the male side of things right now and that and that shaped me to be the person from a genetic perspective, but also just as a, you know, from my core values and my vision story. It's just like I have that, I understand that there's a responsibility that comes with that, right. So and then that legacy just passes on from my generation to my kids generation and I'm thinking about their kids, right? So my, that's a, there's a dimension to that. Dr. Pete and I try to make my decisions in my faith walk and my marital life, the relationships, how I speak to my kids and my, how do I speak to my spouse and how I do my financial walk. Right. And what I choose to invest in like all of these things, my physical health, Right. So it's just like I have an obligation because I know that I'm imprinting on my kids and my kids kids. It's a three generation perspective. Dr. Pete hey, Remarkables. Dr. Steven Fransen here. Are you ready to take your practice systems to the next level? Grow your practice, increase your profits. One of the things that I know my father in law, he Taught me early, early on. I remember he said, you have to have an eternal perspective. And I was like, whoa. That really gave me a completely different framework when I started thinking about things from like forever, you know, it's like, wow. And that. So that, that's where I, I've always started with was like, well, if you start with an eternal perspective, like forever, that actually does change the way you show up in the present. If you have a, if you retain an eternal perspective, if you see it from eternity, if you see it from forever, which is where I personally, where I come from, that's, that's my perspective. That's, that's the seed that's been planted in me. And that's the, that's the thing that I've. So that's the first thing is I try to give my kids a perspective of, you know, you have to look at this world as the way it's going to be. Like, where is your. Where you're going to be forever, but also where your, the, your children are going to be, you know, and so from a spiritual perspective, from a, from an earthly perspective, like thinking about every part of that that matters from the way that you, you know, the, the spouse that you choose, if you choose to get married, if you go down that path, like, that's going to be a major, major component of your journey and your story, you know, and, you know, what path you choose to go professionally. Even though I do know that, that there's going to be some. There's more turns in that journey that's. And that's going to happen just throughout your life. So that's, I'm less concerned about that, but I'm, I want them to, they're fulfilling what their calling is, but you have to have a perspective of that. You're going to be passing your, your imprinting on the next generation. And so for me, as a chiropractor, it's in my office. It's always been.
You are a patient here now, but it's, but it's not, it's not just about you, right? So your family, they need to be under regular care. So if they don't live here, we'll, we'll find them a chiropractor wherever the cities are that they live in. And then, and then the goal would be that once those children, they get under regular chiropractic care, make sure your, your parents, if they're still alive, your, Your older siblings, your siblings, your aunts and uncles that are ahead, let's get them under care so we want to see the whole family get under care. And I love that picture of you with your dad, you and your son. It was like this awesome, cool picture. I love the scene around my grandpa, his dad, and your grandpa. Yeah. There was this cool picture you show sometimes at our events. And it's like, that's it right there. It's. That's up and then down. And then from Sam, it's like, who's the next one? Let's say staying with the males, like you said. If. If I see, okay, when Sam has a child and he's getting adjusters, like, wow, like, look at that. That's. That's the generations moving, and that's the way we need to. That's the way we need to approach our businesses. Like, if you just think about. Okay, who's gonna think about the graceful and profitable exit? The graceful and profitable exit says this, that every person and family, that there are generations of families that live in my city who deserve to continue as regular chiropractic care, even if I have to move to the next step in my journey. For example, if I was called to sell an exit, which all of you, at some point, hopefully you can do it on your terms, you know, and you can exit gracefully and profitably. But your mindset, the idea of a graceful and profitable. It says this so that the families who are staying in my city, who we care for when I'm not here, continue to get the care, the same high level of care, hopefully even higher level of care than even I was able to deliver, and that the message will continue to be distributed into the marketplace so that we continue to help the next generation. That even in your exit, you're thinking about setting it up for the next generation. So who you choose as your successor, how you go through the transition, the passing of the baton, all of that is so, so critical in how you approach an exit, how you approach who you bring on as a. As you enter into the season of scale from build the associate I chose, why I aligned with the right philosophical associate, the right communication. You know, they. They share our core values.
Why?
Because we're thinking generationally, we're thinking bigger. That's right. And that. That's the thing where Dr. Stephen this starts. Because every decision you make in the now has to have a. Have a view of the next and the ultimately generationally this way and that way, and realizing that it's in today, whether it's your finances, your spiritual journey, your business, your health, my choices this morning affect my life in the Generations to come, how I took care of my spiritual health, my physical health, my mental health this morning and for generations to come.
That's right.
That perspective changes everything.
That's right, man. I remember just the conversation that I had with Sam because Sam had already told me he wanted to become a chiropractor. Oh, my gosh. It's like, I hate saying that out loud because I just don't want to put that undue stress on him. But, you know, the reality is, when he was a kid, he used to be hanging out in the Cliff Clinic and he wanted to be a chiropractor, right? So I know that in his mind, what that meant was he was my successor. This was like, you know, all right, I'm gonna wheel the old guy down the hall and let him practice out back. That's adorable.
Keep him around and then I'll take over. I mean, that's, that would be awesome, you know, but when I, I told him, listen, I'm being called to coach. I want to do what we're doing on a scale of a thousand times what we're doing. And, and, and I know that that's where God's got me that going, right? So I'm groomed for that. Let's multiply this, right? And he kind of looked at me kind of in shock and all like, wait a minute, I was going to take over this. And it was, you know, Dr. Ryan taking over our practice. And, you know, I looked at him and I was just. It was a bit of a proud papa moment. But at the same time, like, oh, man, he's. He's a little like, wow, I didn't see that coming. And I said to him, well, you know, at one point, Ryan's going to need a successor. And he's like, oh, yeah, because he loves Ryan. I'm like, by the time you're ready, Sam, he's going to be ready. He's going to be looking for that. And he was like, okay. So he was okay with that. It was like immediately a three generation reaching conversation. And I'm like, I want to build it so that not only Ryan is so successful with it taking it over, but then it would continue with that same momentum and consistency of excellence all the way to Sam taking it over, right? So, you know, this, that's a vision that they caught, right? So it's. And you know, that's, that's the idea of like a three generation perspective. Everything you do. So then we go into our three decade story, right? So, you know, I used to talk about like this 10 year vision story about. No, not, you know what, I think it's a three decade story. So we've gone to the three generation perspective to a three decade story. Like telling, just being able to tell a story of this is how I foresee success. Now walked out. Like if I'm on purpose and I'm serving my mission, this is what my vision is for the next three decades.
Right.
So the next 30 years it's going to look something like this. Now if you're early in your career, you might be like, okay, yeah, I'm going to spend the next 10 years just going and growing and building and grow. And the second, you know, that next decade it's going to be all about creating this amazing scalability and I'm going to create durability and optionality and my role will change inside of that role and maybe I'll focus more on clinical or maybe I'll focus more and see whatever your optionality tells you you want to do whatever you're called for. And then that third gen, that third decade might be, hey, yeah, this is going to be my, my sunset season. Right. So I'm going to go part time because I want to do some teaching at the school or I want to do some speaking or write a book or whatever it is. Guys, start thinking about like these three decades and create some level of clarity. Dr. Pete. Because we should be pulled by our vision.
Yeah.
Remember, we're pushed by our purpose. But you can't just be pushed by your purpose.
Yes, if.
Think about that, guys. So, so many are on purpose. Chiropractors, like we talk to chiropractors every day, especially Those that are 15, 25, 35 years in practice, they're still pushed by their purpose, but they don't have a vision that's pulling them.
Right.
And I don't know about you, Dr. P, but when I'm only firing on one of two cylinders like that, you're more likely to exhaust that first cylinder.
Yeah, you will. That is the recipe for burnout. I love the quote that says as your vision decreases, fatigue increases. If you find yourself growing tired or weary lately, check your vision. That's just, this is something I like to say. It's, you know, check in with yourself and where you're at and if you found yourself like you said, Doc, if you're pushed by that purpose, which thankfully purpose pushes us, which is a beautiful thing. It's its role, it's its function. It's, that's a, that's Right. But it's not designed to function alone. You know, you gotta have both feet on the pedals, you gotta both of the pedals turning and you gotta have the vision function with the purpose, function. And that's where you create the energy and that's how things begin to move. And so this is that. So it's, you're accountable. This goes back to accountability. Like, I am accountable. You're accountable for your vision, the vision you have for your life, the vision you have for your family, the vision you have for your health. And so the three decade vision, the three decade story is really powerful because, you know, I'm, I'm seeing this now with chiropractors coming out, you know, graduating and finishing school, and the influence of the culture and everything of today. It's like, I don't know if a lot of docs have that long vision. I feel like a lot of people have lost it. And even just getting them back to starting with like, hey, let's just start with a three year vision, that's like transformative. It's like, wow, so we, which is a great place to go. You got to start somewhere. Like, let's just do three years. But if you look at it as three decades, what did. How much different would you be able to show up on Monday? If you were thinking in terms of this decade, the next decade and the next decade. If you were thinking in terms of decades, like, how much think about would you be more patient potentially for those of you who are low patients.
What about, would you be willing to work on some areas of your business that maybe you are low conformity, but maybe you need to get some things in order and you need to get some ducks in a row. Maybe there's some details we haven't been paying attention to. We need to pay attention to like, and how would you cultivate the relationships with your team? How would you engage with the people in the community that you serve? What would that be? If you knew you had a decade approach and not to take it easy, but to be intentional and feel that pull, because when you have that pull and that push, but if you lack one of them, you could have this big vision, but no push, nothing happens. You can have this push, no pull. And yeah, you're pushing, but man, that's a, that's a recipe for burnout. It's these two come together and they create this activation energy. There's this tension there, and it's in that tension of pulling and pushing that I always say, like, it's inside of that pressure. That's where the diamonds are. That's where the pressure gets formed. It's inside of that. You have to live in that tension as a leader and then you leveraging that energy. So what three decade view, the next two decades and this decade and my purpose so important doc, to have that because that is the energy, that's the activation energy that's required for movement.
No pressure, no diamonds, man. I just love that. I love that. And your pre and should be feel like a positive pressure, right? So it's like because you're going to have pressure, right? So as an entrepreneur, you're going to, you're going to experience pressure that's, you know, nobody gets out of this game without experiencing pressure, right? So the pressure is either going to come from problem whack a mole or it's going to come from the creative process, right? So, you know, I've been telling myself this story.
You know, I've had the opportunity to be interviewed, you know, just many times over the years, right? So. And for years you get the same question, like when you're interviewed on a podcast like this, what have you, or on a stage or whatever, it's always an honor to be interviewed. But a question that I'll often get is because we talk about successful, I was like, what is your definition of success? And I got stumped on that a couple of times because I want to be careful, right, not to project on people. Because both of us suffered from that, right? Both, both of us benefited from it and suffered from it. So I'm like, how can we just have people take away the benefit, right? So I can tell you what I'm like. I'll be careful not to tell you what success looks like to you for you because it's highly personal. But I can tell you what it looks like for me when I close my eyes.
You know, in this life.
Is I can see success for me is being able to watch the sunrise and watch the sunset every day with my family on the porch of our beach house.
And I'm intentional about every part of that. I said, okay. So, you know, as a man of faith, you know, I just appreciate the sunrise and the sunset. For me that the grounding time, it's time with God and it just is the perfect way to start and end every day. It's just like, how can you deny it, right? So I love the sunrise and I love the sunset. I always say the first three hours of the day. First last three hours of the day. This is my just my Favorite windows. So I want to be able to watch the sunrise and watch the sunset. I used to say that at a time in my life when I was getting in my car at 5am every single morning six days a week and bombing an hour because I lived in a different state from where I practice, I would bomb down in the dark and get to the practice for huddle, which was at 6:15 so we could start seeing patients at 6:45am and then I would leave. Last patient was 6:45. So I'd leave at 7:00 clock at night, 7:15 at night, and get home for 8:15. So what you can hear me say is I was leaving in the dark and getting home in the dark. Right. So this was a guy who was missing sunrise and sunset. Sunset. So that's where that anchor came from. And I wanted to be with my family, which would imply that we had control of our schedule. Like, like this is what, you know, for me it's like having real freedom is freedom to choose to what you're doing at any given time with who you're doing it with. Right. So having that and being able to do that from our beach house, because I'm a surfer, I'm a beach guy, I grew up on the beach and I just absolutely love being on the ocean. Right. So as, as materialistic as that sounds, that's, that's, for me, that, that's, that's been an important anchor for me, right. To, to, to pull me forward, that vision story. And you know, we've been blessed here recently. We bought a beach house last year, a year and a half ago. Now it'll be two years of September. Time flies, right? So what an incredible blessing. And we're in the throes of designing a beach house to be built there. It's a cottage now. Very cute cottage. We're going to build a dream house there. Right? So why am I saying that? Because it's. That vision story is captured in a blueprint that has got such microscopic detail on it that there'll be a team of 50 people that will have to look at that blueprint and know exactly what to do. Whether you're an engineer or you're an, you know, the architects have laid out a plan for the engineers, the guys who are pouring forms, the guys who are framing the people that would be doing the finished cabinetry. Every single detail on is. Is on that blueprint. And it'll mobilize an entire army of people to build a house. And it's been a three year process. Dr. P. It's just like when I look at that, by the time we are able to walk into that house, it's going to be a three year process. We had a three year vision and I'm asking you guys, do you have that type of detail for your life? Like we have it rolled up in a, you know, in a tube with blueprints that tell a whole army of people exactly what to do and exactly what success looks like. And that, that blueprint, that vision captured that way is going to tell everybody exactly what success looks like. And when you think about the infinite number of behaviors and activities that's going to drive and the amount of investment of time, energy, focus and money, it's staggering. And that's a house. My question is, is, do you have a three year vision for what success looks like for your life?
It's good. I know everybody's just sitting right now, whether you're in your car or you're on the treadmill, you had to pull over to the side and really think about it. Because the reality is, I think it's convicting that the level of detail might be lacking. And this is more hopefully a conviction for you, something that will convict you and challenge you to say, you know what, I need to, I need to, for some of us it's pull back out the vision story. It's been, it's been too long. I need to dust it off. Some of it's, it's, I ran out of my vision story. It's been years since I've gotten to it. I need to get back to it. Some of you are in the thick of it because you've been diligently focused on it and you're doing it and you're like, yeah, Doc, you're speaking my language. You're speaking into my listening. I got this right now, I'm on the, I'm on the journey. Wherever you find yourself, we want to simply encourage you. You've got to have that three year vision. And then, Dr. Stephen, once you have that three year vision, that's going to energize you and organize your energy and focus, focus around the three month action plan. Because if you know what's on the blueprint and you know what needs to happen in the next three years, then you know what needs to happen in the next 90 days, the next three months. And so you can organize and what we would say, prioritize what are the most important things that must get done in the next 90 days. We like to say that you, you Underestimate what you can accomplish in a year. You overestimate what you can accomplish in a week. So we organize the effort energy that we do the work into 90 days because then it gives you the actual breathing room to get it done the right way. There's time to figure it out and there's time to get it done. A lot of us don't get to figure out time enough or we don't get to get it done part enough. You got to give yourself room for both the figuring out stages and the getting it done stages. The plan, the prepare, the execute. Right. The assessment report, like the appear process. That's we apply that in every stage of the journey.
Well, you apply it here.
When you look at your three month action plan, what are the things that we're specifically prioritizing, organizing around our domains of our business or the areas of your life? If you're thinking about your personal life, what is that three month action plan? We organize that and then we get to work. We get to the stages of, through the stages of planning and then we prepare and, and then we execute. That's getting it done. So you've got to look at your business, your life. You don't just stop at the three years. In other words, you then take that three years and you harness that energy into the next nine days. And then what's amazing here is then you can deploy that to an amazing group of people who you are, who have caught your vision, who have been recruited and are in and they're looking for like, hey, tell me, you know, I got my tools. Like tell me where do I need to go to dig? Like what, where do I got to hammer some nails in? Where do I go put some boards up, where do I need to put some flooring down? Like what do I need to do? And everybody can go, including you, and get to working on the thing you need to do. That's the three month action plan. That comes from the three revision, which comes from the three decade story, which comes from the three generational perspective.
100%. All right, so let me put a bow on this, okay. So I can wrap it up. Because we'll zoom out of them. But right now we'll just zoom right in. Right? So we zoomed all the way out and we talked about a three generational perspective. Then we zoomed and we talked about a three decade story. Have us be able to tell your three decades story. Then there's the three year vision. And the three year vision is this is what success looks like to Me three years from now. And that should be blueprint detail so that you can make decisions and action and, and you can mobilize your resources to make that a reality. Once you have that three year vision, you go into your three month action plan. And that three month action plan has to be created in such a way you got eyes on that three year, that three year vision, right? So, okay, so these are the things that we need to do now over the next three months, over the next 90 days to make that a reality. Then you zoom in and you say, okay, so based on that three month action plan, I want to have a three week schedule. Like Dr. Pete, I don't know about you, but I just get so stressed out when people can only think about what are we doing today in this week, right? They have this weekly, you know, they operate weekly. And next thing you know it's like, oh man, I don't have time to do that this week. Or I don't know if we can get that meeting in this week. Or maybe I'll get it done by the end of the week. Like people do that to themselves. It's like, no, open that up, open that up, right? So as the CEO, you're taking a three year view of your business. You take a three week view of your schedule book. And I mean, this is like you have like the ability. I use my assistant to schedule out and I look three weeks out. Because Dr. Pete, what I find is that if you like take the pressure off of let's get together this week, right? Where because now it's urgency, right? So versus it's important. So let's get it on the calendar in a way that we can find the ideal time. We'll have opportunities to prepare for that meeting or for that event or initiative, right? So if you start opening yourself up to this three week view, it takes that angst and that anxiety and that rushing, right? So it's like you want to do everything with a level of urgency, but don't rush, right? So you don't have to fabricate stress, right? So plot that out. Three weeks out. So now you get to see, you look ahead two weeks, three weeks. And now you understand that what you, what you have here is a calendar that has some breathing room and some margin in there so that you can prepare. And then once you have that down, now it's like, okay, so now let's zoom in again and let's say let's have a three day list of objectives and priorities, right? So this is your agenda, right? So over the next three days, these are the most important things that happen. Like, if you're not crystal clear on that, guys, you're not thinking like a CEO, right? It's not like, oh, oh, this has to be done. Oh, shoot, I forgot to do that, or, oh, man, I'm already behind on this. I'm late on that. I'm not gonna get that done. You can't live like that, right? So you have to say over the next three days, these are the highest priorities, right?
So.
And you gotta be super clear on this. Like, this is the kind of thing that you're like, yeah, I don't go to bed today until this is done. All right? So this is. These are the priorities I'm going to start here. I'm going to eat that frog, right? This is going to be the most important thing I get done today. So it's going to happen first, right? So these are my priorities, right? These are the objectives over three days. And then I zoom in again and I'm like, okay, here I am, it's Friday. I've got my before lunch time. I've got my between lunch and dinner time, and I got between my dinner time and bedtime, right? So it's like, I love the 21 day week. I try to get three days in every day, right? So three hour checklist and to do list. In this block of time, what am I going to be doing? I already know what my priorities are, and the priorities are reflection of my action plan. My action plan's a reflection of my vision story, right? So it's like I have just dialed this in as like, hey, I just look at my calendar and I've already blocked the time and whatever I blocked my time for, I've committed my focus. And that's a reflection of what I decided is on my to do list based on my priorities and my objectives. And then, Dr. Pete, I would be remiss if I didn't give a tip of the hat to John Demartini. Dr. John. Who taught us about present time consciousness. And it's like. And then every three minutes or three seconds or whatever's necessary for you, just check in, check in and say, am I present? Am I present? Because ultimately it's all about focus, right? So CE knows the truth. It's focus that takes busyness and turns it into productivity. Hey, Doc, Steven Fransen here. If you're like me, you know that we're in the business of saving lives. And when business is good, everybody wins. That's the good news. But here's the bad news. Most chiropractors don't own a business at all. They own a job. It's a job they love, but it's a job. And far too often it feels like that job owns them. Is this true for you? Do you own a business or a job? Have you built and do you run your practice on brute force? Does it rely fully on your time, time, your effort, A pound of your flesh? Are you responsible for all growth, for all new patient generation? How about new patient conversions? Is it all up to you? How about patient care and delivery? Are you a sole practitioner, an owner operator who owns the practice but is also the only one that is head down and bum up taking care of all the patients? Is revenue generation or collections all up to you? Let me ask you the most telling question, Doc. What would happen if you took 90 days off? What breaks? In my experience, most on purpose chiropractors do not lay awake at night worrying about their practice. They worry about their business. Let's slay that dragon. The Remarkable CEO program has helped hundreds of chiropractors just like you turn the job that they love into the business that they've always wanted. Are you ready to run and build your practice on leverage instead of brute force? Do you want to create the scalability and durability that will allow you to make a bigger impact and a bigger income? What would it mean to grow your practice, increase your productivity and your profitability? Do you want to get your time freedom back? Are you ready to turn your pirate ship into a battleship? If this sounds like you, then the remarkable CEO program is for you. Just last year, 5053 of our remarkable clients received the Seven Figure Club Award, meaning they hit the million dollar mark for the first time or their next million dollar level, be it 2 million, 3 million, 10 million, up to 36 million and growing now. Doc, is it crazy to imagine that your practice could be next? Click the link below and learn how to apply for the next cohort of the Remarkable CEO program. We look forward to working closely with you and creating the business that supports your remarkable life, not competes with it.

Hey guys. Dr. Pete Camiolo here today in the studio with me, Dr. Dan Rudenbeck. Super pumped to have him on board. Thanks for joining me today. You know, we're excited because as a success partner with the Remarkable Practice, we we identify leaders and businesses that provide A service, a product that we believe is going to help our doctors who we serve inside their marketable practice, help them be more successful, help more people make a bigger impact, drive revenues and make a bigger income so that they can reinvest in their business and make an even bigger impact, and everybody wins. And so we always look to align with organizations and businesses and leaders and products and services that share our values. And I remember when I first had my conversation with you, Dr. Dan, it was like, man, we're singing the same song. We're on the same page. Like, it's the same sheet of music. You should. You should be a part of the remarkable practice. It makes so much sense. So we met in 2024, and you decided to, you know, bring your business and come on board in 2025. So we're really happy to have you. And as an expert in this space and a success partner, I just had to have you on our podcast just to say, hey, what is it that you guys are up to? It's 2025, and, you know, you've got. You've got some cool things happening. And so I. I want to make sure I give you a chance to introduce yourself, but I just want our audience to know that you're just an awesome guy. We're super pumped to. To be doing this partnership with you with Shockwave Centers of America. So maybe bring us inside of your story, a little bit of your journey, a little bit about your business so everybody has a. A better understanding. And then I've got some more questions for you today.
Sure. Well, I'm super excited to be on, and like you said, I think it was love at first sight when we first got together on that first zoom call, where we both very much have the same values, and we want to bring as much success to chiropractors as we possibly can. Being the role I'm in now as the owner of Shockwave Centers of America kind of fell into place where I didn't actually plan this. It was one of those things where there was a huge need, in my opinion, in the world of chiropractic, but also anybody who's in a holistic therapy environment to have something like Shockwave. Great access to it, great training to it, and a really accessible team behind it. And so I grew up in London, Ontario, Canada, and Shockwave is a bigger thing in chiropractic. It was one of the jobs that I had as a CA Before I went down to chiropractic school. And I almost forgot about it throughout the process of Chiropractic because I went to life and modalities are not a big thing in life university, which is a good and a bad thing. We want to be at least aware of it if it doesn't suit your practice. But if it does suit your practice, you want to be really well versed in it and know the differences and understanding where to go and who to talk to and how does it fit into your practice. All those important things that I think everybody should know. And so I got out of school, started my practice here in Marietta, Georgia with my wife. She's a chiropractor as well. A lot of us get together, but we did meet before chiropractic school. So she's Canadian too. She does all pediatric and prenatal stuff and I take care of everybody else and we're still in practice. She's off on maternity leave right now, but she'll come back after the baby's all settled and we'll keep rocking and rolling. I have no plans on leaving practice at the moment, as much as this is a full time job too. I love seeing my people, even though it's only two days a week, but I still want to keep seeing them. And so I got out of school and I started having all these clients that I thought would be a great fit for Shockwave. Leaning back on my experience as a ca and I didn't even know where to start. I looked at machines and they were all too expensive for me. And I talked to the companies like, hey, could I get a refurbished one? And I was like, what does the training look like? How does it relate to my practice? There was no support whatsoever. How do I fit it into my chiropractic office without this huge investment? Or how do I fit it into there without having to start from scratch? On what kind of protocol can I use that fits in well with the cervical adjustment? What protocol can I do for my plantar fasciitis patients even though I'm still working on the lower back in the chain that way. So it was very cloudy and it didn't make a ton of sense. And so I leaned on my resources back in Canada. I got myself a refurbished machine, brought it down here, started using it in my own practice. And five years post that, we decided to launch our own with American parts and our protocols that are all based on the research themselves. And then we do all the support on the back end that nobody else really does, which is how do we introduce this to clients? As a chiropractor, what do we do when we hit a roadblock with therapy, whether it's this or with anything else, we've got a group of over 700 doctors now that are working together to collaborate to get great results for their patients. And again, it's not something I planned. I just kind of fell into it. And now I have a big group of people that are relying on me that I wasn't expecting. And it's been so thrilling. And it's been such a fun business to build to be able to help more patients by proxy, by training these docs on how to use the therapy.
I love the Genesis story. I had forgotten that you started as a CA and you were actually doing this work as an assistant in Canada before coming to life. I think that's awesome, man. In that you, in your experience, knew there was more we could offer for our patients and you wanted that. And here you are, like you said, thrust into this position of now being a supply and a demand, supplying the demand and the need and a solution for chiropractors nationwide. Talk to us a little bit about those things, because I know from talking to you the first time, the thing that really attracted me, in addition to just you being a principled chiropractor and being committed to your practice and your chiropractic practice, but also being able to offer this kind of support and service to add more value to your patients, was when you talked about the training that you guys provide, you talked about the support that you give to your. The doctors who work with you guys for their team, because that tends to be a pain point for a lot of. Of practitioners. Can you talk a little bit about that? Just that side of what you're doing, and then maybe, you know, what are the, you know, who are the patients? You use plantar fasciitis as an example earlier. You know, it's part of the chain. Like you said, you're still working the low back, but we're going after this very specific area. So talk to. Talk to our listeners about who are these patients that you're serving right now? The doctors who are using shockwave. Talk about the doctors and how this is actually helping them become more successful. I think that's a big thing for us. As I'm listening, if I'm a listener, I'm like, okay, I don't use this in my office. This is foreign to me. Walk us through the journey, the client journey from your side, but also the patient journey from the side of the practitioner, as you are.
Sure, yeah. I mean, and you hit the nail on the head is we're kind of serving both populations. We're trying to serve the chiropractor who's bringing in new technology, but also by proxy serving those patients that need the therapy that we can offer. The first answer, I guess is.
For the chiropractor and the training and how to implement this into the practice was a big hurdle that I ran into myself. And I never wanted our therapy or any therapy to take over the identity of the principal chiropractic that we're also delivering. It's supposed to be a great tool in your toolbox and even in my office where we do a ton of shockwave because we have a ton of clients that receive it. You don't know until you get into this room, which is our shockwave room that I'm sitting in right now, that that's part of our offerings other than it's listed on our website and they can find out about it. But it doesn't take over the attitude of my practice. We are a family based chiropractic office where we definitely see more kids than we do adults, which we wouldn't think serves the shockwave population, but we do. We see a ton of Osgood slaughters, which is one of the big things for kiddos and severs disease. And then for the adults, you've got frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow. Osteoarthritic knees is a huge one. Knees and shoulders. You could fill a whole practice just with knee therapy and shoulder therapy. Plantar fasciitis is one of those things that we have the longest history on research in. And so that's why when you google shockwave therapy and plantar fasciitis, it's going to pop up with 30 or 40 different articles and it's great. It's not something I want to fill my whole practice with, but I like having that option to help serve my people and keep them in the practice. Right. Because the other option to some of these chronic issues, and this is mostly a chronic problem or a chronic pain therapy. So things that have been going on for four to six weeks or longer, that's kind of our target market. And those are the flags that you see when you talk to your patients when they come in either for the first time or when you're doing reassessments like, hey, my back feels great, I still got this shoulder issue going on, you know, what would you suggest? Or can you give me a referral? And if it's something that's on our list of therapeutic benefits and we have research behind it, then we'll definitely address that and be like, hey, great, let's start doing a little bit of Shockwave and see if we're getting the results we were looking for. If so, let's keep you here because the steroid injection and the exploratory surgery and all that kind of stuff, it just has become so rampant and so like automatic. You go in and you get a steroid ejection, you come out. It's like, well, they're not thinking long term with the damage to the tissue that they're treating. And we give them a holistic option that's not going to cause more damage to the tissue. And so you get to expand the width of your practice by seeing more issues, but still the same type of people that you want in your practice. And if you get to the next level, to the business building side of it, your staff can actually run the therapy for you. It's very easy to learn. We train you. We have a whole certification program that your staff can take so that they can become the resident expert in shockwave therapy in your office. And you can just keep doing the chiropractic stuff that you would love to keep doing. So it's a great practice builder. It's a great problem solver for chronic issues. Low back discs that you can't adjust the way you would like to because there's a lot of rods and stuff in there. You can use Shockwave on that you give people another option or level up their patient care experience, like I said, without taking over the attitude or the identity of your practice.
Yeah, this is really good, man. I mean, I think right now, all of us, we're seeing more and more complexity, more and more challenges, more chronically sick people. And as you said, the alternative is exploratory surgeries, injections, drugs. It's like, we all know that is those are last resort things, not first resort. Even the word exploratory surgery, really, who would have thought that? But that's where we're at now because our medical system has failed so miserably in terms of getting to the root cause of what's really going on with people. And this technology, from everything that I've learned about it, it just sings the chiropractic principle song so well in it as it unlocks your body's innate healing power. You know, it works with the body and it just speaks to the power of why you should be getting adjusted. Because if you're not, if you're subluxated, your body's going to be inhibited in its ability to heal even by adding these technologies. So how they work together, it's an and not an or conversation. Right. And so talk a little bit about the business side then. You know, you shared about some of the conditions, adults and children. I love that actually you're the first person really talk to me about kids and how this can actually really help them, which I work with a lot of kids and a lot of athletes as well. So that, that makes just opens up a whole nother conversation. But talk about roi as a business owner, as I make an investment in this and I mean you run this in your practice, like you said, what are doctors looking at like first year, if I bring this technology in in terms of, you know, investments to return, if I do things the way that you guys are teaching us how to do it. Right. If I'm a good student, you know, and I'm implementing what you're recommending, what are just, I don't general, you know, generally speaking, what are we looking at here?
And one of the goals for our business was to solve one of those issues because how some of our competitors make money is to kind of keep them on the hook for, for routine maintenance. And it kind of eats into the ROI experience and it makes your clinical decision making a little bit more skewed. Where we wanted ROI as fast as humanly possible on this machine so that you use it when it needs to be used and you leave it alone when it's not a right fit for your patients. So we really big on making clinical decisions, on using the shockwave versus just financial decisions. Yeah, you're going to make money with the machine. You're going to pay it off in at the most 90 days. And that's, that's a slow person's ramp up, right. That you're talking about 10 to 15 care plans total is all it's going to cost to take over one of the machine overhead. And then the maintenance cost is less than $100 a year in perpetuity. Right. And so it's very, very easy to overcome the burden or that first initial investment into the machine so that it becomes a great clinical tool that will continue to build your business. And you're looking anywhere from 8 to 12,000amonth in recurring income because of who you are as a salesperson, who you are as a practitioner. It can vary for sure. It's how much you want to put into it. But we're big on, don't force this to be the biggest financial Gain thing in the world. It's really about amplifying what kind of things can you see in your practice successfully. And maybe you don't even offer all the different therapies that you can get in Shockwave, but you hyper focus on on a niche. Maybe you only do knee and feet and ankles and stuff, or just shoulders and neck stuff, because that's the expertise that you have. Right. Or that's where you feel really comfortable. All of that is possible and we're very open to people making it make sense in their practice instead of trying to offer too many things and making it cloudy. But the ROI is super fast and I really want it to be knocked out within 90 days. So we don't even have that conversation. I like the conversation of which is really cool for us is that 10 to 15% of our buyers have at least two machines because they found that the ROI within their first year was so big that they filled the space with one machine and they need to have another one in their office.
Wow. 10 to 15% of your practitioner, that's significant.
There's definitely drive and demand there that you're seeing. Can you talk a little bit about just the ongoing support? It sounds like you guys have a really strong community and strong network there. What does that look like for us as practitioners?
Yeah. One of my key values in Shockwave and in chiropractic is that if I'm to make any recurring income from this machine, it's going to be on the education side. How can I help people advance their clinical skills? You know, how can I bring new information to the table, how can I support them as they get into harder cases and all that kind of fun stuff too. I don't have any interest in making money on the support of making sure to make sure, making sure the machine works the way it's supposed to work.
Right.
And so that's where we differ with our machines in general. But that's my big goal, is to consistently get patients asking for the therapy. Because we're talking about how we can level up from the chiropractic profession is how can we keep people away from the more harmful therapies that are out there or the other options that they have. Can we keep them away from the orthopedists with stuff like this? Yeah, I'm all for orthopedics. They have their place and we have one of the best trauma care systems in the world. It's just we're horrible at holistic care and making that the priority. So the more people asking for this therapy, we'll get more people in your office that might not even thought of coming to see you as a chiropractor, which I see all the time. It's like, hey, I want to come in for Shockwave. Well, guess what? You're in a chiropractic office. You're going to learn about why we do what we do and how they work together. And I'd say 90 to 95%, at least, are both shockwave and chiropractor clients. I don't have very many. Just Shockwave clients.
That's great. So if I was to launch this right, you talked about your first 90 days. You should be able to pay off the investment. How quickly does things typically just does this get up and running? Like, let's say I listen to this today, and I'm like, all right, I'm getting on a call with Doc Dan. I want to learn. I want to be able to integrate this in this year. From the moment that, like, we get started on a call, like, to. It's up and running, and it's starting to produce. What is that? Timeline, generally.
So let's give ourselves a week for phone call and getting the machine into the office. As soon as we got a commitment, we get you into the back end and start training the staff on. On what's coming. How do we have the conversations with the new clients coming in? What is our goal for how many clients in the first couple of months? But the first couple weeks, I recommend getting it in there, doing it on yourself, on your staff, on your three or four favorite patients that have been with you forever, that are like, hey, I want to try something new. Let's bring it. Or you can do some free trials for some people that are on the table as you're table talking them. All of that stuff is on the table to get you really comfortable with the therapy. And once you have that confidence of, I've had five people on the table, and four out of five were jumping off, and they were feeling so much better even immediately. That gives you the opportunity to like, okay, this is worth talking to my client base about, which is a very important mindset shift for bringing in new therapy to the practice. Because I can say that it works all day long, and you can have other docs say that it works all day long, but once you get that first couple of patients tell you you're never allowed to get rid of this machine, you got to keep it forever, then that builds a whole new level of trust with you and the therapy. And that you can see it fitting into your practice. So that's what the first three or four weeks are about, is find your favorite people to try it on and get really comfortable with it. Dig through all the videos that we have on how to do it, how to service the machine, all the kind of back end work. And then you start with like an email blast or something that's totally free to the doctor to do outside of table talk and doing handouts at the front desk and putting up the posters that we provide for you. Do it kind of a soft launch there. And when you're ready, then you can do all the crazy stuff that you want to do. If you want to do, you know, Facebook and Instagram ads, we can help you, you know, point you in the right direction of somebody who's really good at that. We're more on the education of how to get great clinical results and how to make it make sense for free in your practice. But when you want to get into, you know, paid ads and stuff like that, we let the experts take over for that stuff.
Awesome. So, doc, why I still have you, what's the best way for our listeners to get in contact with you, to learn more, to take a next step?
Yeah, I mean, shockwavecenters.com has a big, you know, it's a big informational page for patients as well. So you can see how we introduce the therapy to your community as well. But shockwavesigners.com the remarkable practice, there's a great video on there of what makes us different. Our contact is on there as well. You can give us a call anytime if you have a specific clinical question. Dr. Dan, shockwavecenters.com is always available for an email.
