Well, I want to describe to you an excitement I have about our October 2014 Functional Medicine Update Edition. It's Dr. Philip Kern as our clinician of the month. And Dr. Kern is a endocrinologist and he is the head of the Barnstable Diabetes and Obesity Research center at the University of Kentucky School of Medicine in Lexington. But More than that, Dr. Kern is a very, very skilled practitioner researcher in this whole emerging concern as it relates to metabolic diseases and the disturbances that are associated with insulin resistance. This is the first of what is going to be a series that we are doing in Functional Medicine Update over the next few months on the whole epidemic of type 2 diabetes, where it's come from, what to do about it, how it's interrelated with obesity, is it a cause or an effect? What are the various multiple etiological factors? And then obviously, what are some of the treatment options that will personalize these approaches to an individual knowing that these are multiple conditions, even if they have the same diagnosis, they are multiple in the way they present within individuals. So it requires a personalized treatment. So Dr. Kern is going to start us down that road. I think he's done a superb job as a practicing endocrinologist with a lot of research experience to really set the tone for what will be this exciting mini course on the both diagnosis, recognition of etiology and management in a personalized way of the type 2 diabetes epidemic. So stay tuned for our October issue.
