Cancer is not inevitable. We can do something about it. Why do I say that? Because in Nature Medicine this last week, one of the premier journals, there's an article talking about 40% of cancers are preventable by looking at risk factors, risk factors that are modifiable. One that I wanna speak to is obesity, central adiposity around our waist section, that kind of fat that then bleeds into our bloodstream substances that can actually encourage cancer by altering our immune system. Yes, they can actually make our immune system angry. They can excite the immune system to create an environment that can increase the risk to cancer. So central adiposity, meaning keeping your body thin and lean, having a waist-to-hip ratio that's 1 or less, that's where we wanna be.
