I'm a doctor and this is one of the biggest mistakes I see people making when they're talking about longevity. Look, I want to live a long and happy and healthy life just like everybody else. But what people are talking about today is by and large focusing on sensationalized ideas as to a certain molecule, a certain pathway that is going to fix everything. While I am all for the advancement of science and I think there's so much amazing work being done in longevity, the reality is that the best studied interventions to promote a long and healthy life are actually relying on the basics. It is caring for your immune system, your metabolic health. It is feeding your cells with real food, with a variety of foods that have been minimally processed, exercising, getting good sleep, engaging in stress mitigation processes, paying attention to and engaging in relationships with other people and with nature. These are the things that are best studied and I highly recommend prioritizing those first.
