106: Detoxification, Hormone Balance, and True Wellness with Dr. Jessica Peatross
11 Aug 2025 · 81 min
Podcast episode (recorded Aug 11, 2025) where host Jenn Simmons, MD interviews Dr. Jessica Peatross about her professional conflict with medical boards (surrendered California license in 2022), a multi‑year personal health decline driven by nervous‑system dysregulation, and a recovery that included meditation, targeted micronutrient repletion and bioidentical hormones. Dr. Peatross cites specific labs (MCV 106, CRP 8 mg/L, homocysteine 11), describes a clinical detox sequence (prioritize nervous‑system regulation → remineralization/B vitamins including liposomal and injections → parasite‑first cleansing → address metals/mold/EBV; use sauna/hyperbaric/cold for hormesis), expresses skepticism of vaccine mandates and emphasizes informed consent, and endorses individualized bioidentical hormone replacement (reports symptomatic improvement after ~2 months). Practice details: Instagram @DrJessMD, a membership platform (Wellness Plus), and a virtual clinic (booked into Oct/Nov). Episode contains sponsor ads and host promotions.

Hello, everyone. Welcome back. I am so excited for today's talk. It has been one that I have been waiting for for quite some time and we've had like a number of cancellations and our schedules haven't matched. And in any event, it's been a long time coming and I am so delighted to have my friend, Dr. Jess Petros here. Dr. Jess has an amazing story. She has been triumphant, but both personally and professionally, and she's going to share all of that with you. And the space that she occupies is a space that many people find themselves in, in that they are medical mysteries and they go to doctor after doctor after doctor and no one can figure out what's wrong with them. And they know something's wrong, but they just remain a mystery. And this is what Dr. Jess does. She, she solves these problems that other practitioners can't see through, can't find. She is the salvation for many of these people who struggled and suffered for so long. And I'm so delighted to have her here today and that she was willing to take the time to share her brilliance and shine her light with my audience and my community. So, Dr. Jess, welcome.
Wow, I'm honored. Thank you for the introduction. So sweet.
You know, we first met many years ago when you were going through it.
Going through it. So.
So, you know, you really have a pain to purpose story that is both personal and professional. So if you're willing, I would love for people to just get a glimpse into how you have such a deep understanding of this space.
Absolutely. Well, you know, I guess my story, you know, I have to start out by saying a little disclaimer. Disclaimer that, you know, I've been put through the wringer and it's been a wild ride, but I have very strong genetics. So I didn't have a lot of the physical ailments that a lot of my patients might have. I was, I did. It did come out in the labs eventually for you guys, just so you're listening. But it started out with me being in nervous system dysregulation and flight or fight and eventually like freeze. Like I was in functional freeze. And that's where all my abnormal lab work and symptoms all kind of spiraled out from. But I'll tell you guys what happened. So in the course of seven years, the last seven years have really been hard for me. I've gone through probably three lawsuits. I had the. I surrendered my medical license in the California when they came after me for doing exemptions for children back then.
That's mean. Exemptions.
Yes, exactly. Exactly.
And as a medical doctor, there were a lot of people that struggled in the state of California because they, they put some serious demands and restrictions on you through Covid.
Right?
Yeah.
And it was even before COVID you know, when they passed SB277 and SB276, they really made it legal to subpoena patients medical records without their permission and open them up to check the legitimacy of the vaccine exemption. And I just vehemently disagree with opening up patients records to be able to check something like that. But, you know, that's not everyone, in my professional opinion and experience can handle 72 doses of vaccines by the age of 18 to go to school because everyone is epigenetically and genetically different. And that means certain genes are turned on in other people or neighbor that aren't in you. And so that means they may not be able to detox as well as you. And that was just something I truly believe in science. And that was the science for me. And so, you know, when they came after me, I didn't think I didn't make money from seeing patients anymore. I did it because I liked it. And so, you know, the bigger play for me was, you know, I don't kiss the ring of a corrupt king. So I would rather surrender this medical license I don't need and really speak out rather than hold on and take their punishment and their probation and their re education and all those things. And you know, so the sick part.
Is that that re education is a false narrative anyway.
Yeah, I feel like, you know, we, most of us, doc, Swept hundreds of thousands dollars in debt for a half cocked, misinformed education. Yeah, I just really wasn't willing to do that anymore.
Yeah. And you know, I'm not just talking about COVID in that there is no. Any vaccine that you personally take has no effect on anyone around you. It has no effect on anyone but you. So whether or not someone vaccinates should never be this like moral hierarchy, but that's what we've made it.
Yeah, especially during COVID You know, I was definitely called a grandma killer a number of times because I refused to get this vaccination that in the long run, when the studies finally panned out, didn't provide any, any immunity or transmission protection whatsoever. Anyway. In fact, the people who got multiple vaccinations may have had worse immunity from catching COVID according to some of the studies. So, you know, I just really wasn't willing to bend on that with the medical board of California. I wasn't willing to bend on my stance with them and re educate myself under their guidelines. And so, so I left. And that was in 2022. And during that time I also, in my personal life, I had a six year breakup, I had a miscarriage, I had a lot of horrible things happen to me. My dog died of a brain tumor. I don't have children, so that's like my child. And so all these things were just stacked up at once and really caused an emotional traumatic brain injury because I wasn't in a safe relationship either. And so when all this happens every six or seven years, it can really do a number on you. And I can remember feeling I gained 30 pound. Um, it's right at that time, you know, I'm 46. It's right at that time when your hormones start changing, ladies, I think we all know what that feels like. Or if you don't, it feels like you get up and there's this. You just want to cry and feel like a victim all day, basically is how I felt. And I was like, is this menopause? Like, what is wrong with me? Is this the seven years of trauma I've been through? And it was a little bit of everything and it was the perfect storm for me. So when I got my labs back, I'll never forget, Jen, I was at a Dr. Joe Dispenza event, which is probably the best place you can receive bad labs. And so, you know, I mean, everything was in the red. Like my MCV, my main corpuscular volume was 106. That means, guys, my red blood cells were enormous because I didn't have B vitamins to be able to properly make and produce red blood cells. That means I couldn't make hormones properly. That means I couldn't make neurotransmitters properly. I mean, no wonder I was suicidal. Yeah, yeah.
And those that you could make, you couldn't, you couldn't dispose of properly.
Right, right.
Like all of your systems were broken.
It was everything. I mean, my cholesterol was high, my homocysteine was 11, my CRP, my C reactive protein was 8. Guys, it's supposed to be less than 3. I couldn't figure out was hadn't changed any eating habits and was still working out and couldn't lose a pound. When you're that inflamed. Good luck. Yeah, you know, good luck. So everything was really screwed up in me to the point. I mean, my hemoglobin, hematocrit were high. I mean, they thought I had polysythemia.
Vera.
They throw around cancer possibly for a second, and it really scared me. Yeah. But, you know, what I did was I really got into Joe Dispenza and the event. And for those listening, you really get into a meditative state, and there are lots of kind of mystical experiences that people can have there when they're in a different brainwave state. And that happened to me and I really. I literally fixed my labs in three weeks.
That is astounding, but really encouraging to know that it's possible, right?
Yeah, I mean, it's possible. I mean, I. After that, I still had another probably year of floundering about with just, you know, being. Being put through the ringer professionally and personally. But now things have kind of turned around for me. So I'm happy to say that, like, you're out there and you. This resonates with you, and you're like your hormones are changing and you feel like you could cry at the drop of a hat and nothing feels right. And you can't lose weight at all, no matter what. You could eat a salad all day and walk 10 miles. Doesn't matter. I literally know how you feel. Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely. And, you know, I was witness to that whole transformation and.
That's right.
And when. When I saw you, which I think was at the Disrupt event, and it had been about a year since I saw you before then, and you came to the Disrupt event and you spent the whole weekend in, like, a unitard because you look so good. You look so good. I was like, oh, my God, what happened here? Because the last time I saw you, I was afraid to leave you alone. You were going to jump off a bridge.
I know, it was crazy, right? I know I had a crazy transformation.
Now, this is not to say that what worked for you is going to work for everyone, but I think that the same way people ask me all the time, like, what did you do? What. What did you do to reverse things for you? What, what did. What. What did that year of transformation look like for you?
I went to two Dr. Joe Dispenza events, which I don't hang my hat on, but I think getting in a silent state where you can calm your nervous system, there's a lot to be said about that. No matter. No right or no right or wrong way to do it. It's just I'm not going to meditate unless someone makes me, probably sometimes. So that was good for me. And, you know, the other thing I did was I made sure I had my nutrition meaning, not what I'm eating. But my nutrient status. Correct. So micronutrients, you know, there was a lot of things I was missing to be able to make hormones like you need B vitamins, as I mentioned before. And so I really made sure that I was taking something that wouldn't like a pill has to go through the gut and the liver to really be absorbed. But if you take something like bazomal in the oral cavity, it can absorb here rather than having to go through the gut where you probably get 20 to 25% of it. Right. And so I would make sure that I was taking liposomal B vitamins. So I knew because my, my deficiency was severe in my labs. So no, I wanted to make sure I even got injections, right. B vitamin shots to or B complex just to make sure that I was getting my nutrition back where it should have been. Because when you're in, when you're inflamed and stressed out like that, you can't absorb minerals like you should. You can't assimilate things like you should. Yeah. And I experienced that personally. It wasn't, it wasn't like I wasn't eating red meat. I was.
So it wasn't like your body wasn't getting those vitamins and nutrients in your diet. They were there, you couldn't absorb them. And you know, when we think about it, when we think about what was happening with you on a physiologic level, right. You were in fight or flight, you were in survival mode. And if you're in survival mode, all your body can think of, because we only know two states, we only know safety and danger, right? So all your body can think of is there's a saber toothed tiger on my tail, I need to run. Not I need to digest this food and get all the nutrients out of it. Not I need to relax or sleep or build muscle or any of those things. All it can think is I need to run and I can't focus on anything but running. And until you tell your body that it's safe, that's all you're going to get. That's all you're going to do.
Yeah. And it was a slow progression over seven years of like unraveling my safety, I would say, and I will tell everyone out there, I'm a doctor. And it was, I couldn't see myself in flight or fight for years. And I think that's one of the hardest things to see about yourself is when you're, your nervous system isn't regulated unless you're in acute situation where you're like running from a bear or whatnot. And you know it. Right? You don't always know when you're stuck in freeze. You don't always know when you're, you know, autonomic nervous system is not firing properly. I did, I didn't. And you know, there was a lot of clues for me. I mean I always slept well. I know a lot of people don't sleep well. I always slept well, but it was in my breath and how quickly my eye spoke and, and didn't breathe in between sentences or my startle reflex.
Yeah, that's a big one. That is a big one. Yeah. Because I hear people say this all the time. They're like, I don't feel stressed. But then I ask them like, do you jump at a noise or do, do you scare easily? And if you're, if you have that quick reflex, you are in fight or flight.
Right? It's so true. It really is. And, and it was, you know, even in the way my pupils would dilate and, and I had asymmetry in my face because when you're stressed out, you know your sphenoid bone, the butterfly shaped bone, eyes can actually get cocked and that makes one eye higher than the other. It's still like that a little bit, but it's a lot better than it used to be with me. And it, there were subtle things that showed I was in flight or fight. But you know, I would not want to go out when I was invited out. I'd rather, you know, watch a documentary series or something on TV and hibernate in my house because my body didn't feel safe out in the world all the time. There were simple little clues like that for me. But you're right, that unraveled everything in my health because I didn't dress it for years.
Years.
I didn't address it for years.
Yeah.
So you worked on your nervous system, you meditated with, with Dr. Joe Dispenza.
B vitamins.
B vitamins.
I also made sure I got high dose vitamins. Things like boron and magnesium, selenium, iodine, molybdenum. You know, it was really important for me to remember to get enough of those too because when you have high enough dosed minerals, it's an all in one hormone rejuvenation for people too. And we don't get that many minerals these days. The soil is stripped. I mean an orange has eight times less vitamin C than our grandparents oranges. So it's really sad. And so I think minerals have really revolutionized my life and grounded my nervous system. And it wasn't just that. It was really like, you know what I do? I put post it notes up around my room that say, you deserve love, you deserve peace and abundance and peace or prosperity, you do deserve abundance, you know. And I write those on post it notes and hang them in my room on my mirrors and things like that. So it reprograms my brain every day when I get up and I look in the mirror because before I was really down on myself. Because you feel like you get kicked so many times by life, you can really go victim. And that's a place that you can't manifest from. That's a place of lack of. And so I got stuck there for a while. I really thought I God didn't love me anymore. And so I had to reprogram my brain and my thought patterns and what I was attracting into my life at that point.
Yeah, so you started to control the narrative. Yeah, because we talk about this all the time. The story you tell yourself matters.
Right.
And when you're manifesting, it is very hard to manifest from a place of scarcity.
Right.
When you think that you don't deserve it, or you think that the possibilities aren't there or they don't apply to you, the story you tell yourself really matters.
Really matters. And you're much more powerful than you think. And if any skeptics are out there, think about the placebo effect. It really cannot be explained in many ways by modern science, but we still have to adjust for it. So what does that mean? We're more powerful than we ever thought?
Yeah, that placebo effect is very real. And there are plenty of drugs out there which people happily and willingly take even though they have side effects that are not proven to be any better than placebo.
No, you're right.
I mean, my father has been having respiratory issues for going on two years now. And for two years the pulmonologist said, well, I'm not going to give you this medication. I'm not going to give you this medication. He doesn't even know what the name of the medication is because I asked him last night. But he told me that he's been on the medication for two weeks. He's feeling better, for all I know. And I hope he could be on a placebo. But people, when you believe that this is, this is what's holding you back from health and wellness, then you know it works.
That's right. That's right. And so our minds, you know, there's a lot More that we don't fully understand about how our emotions are stored in the body, about how our mind plays tricks on us and blocks us from abundance or lets us manifest it. We don't know everything yet and probably won't ever, but, you know, it's the tip of the iceberg. I feel like nowadays people are starting to understand a little bit more about this stuff. Yeah. Yeah.
So.
Tell us about how we, we know that you made a physical transformation. How did that affect your professional transformation?
You know, that took a while to shake out, I think. So when I lost the 30 pounds that I had gained over the seven years that were never on me before that, it really, I started to feel better about myself. Right. That definitely happened. And I think that translates more as you smile more and you've got a little more pep in your step and maybe a little bit more relaxed confidence about you. And so that probably helps to land gigs easier and, you know, make your job a little easier. Ultimately, I think a lot of this hasn't panned out until recently. I've recently had a lot of good news back to back. So I think I may have graduated this seven year, ninth ring of hell test I've been put through and didn't know it. So my graduation may have been last month. So lately, let's see here. I actually applied for my medical license in Florida and that was almost a year ago. Last September I applied in Florida and I have been in licensed purgatory since then because I haven't heard a peep. And then.
And why do you think that is? Do you think that it just takes a long time or do you think that there were some, like, confounding things because of what happened in California?
Definitely confounding things because when, when that happened to California and I willingly surrendered. Three months later, the Oregon Medical Board got ahold of me where I held a Locums, Tenn. License there and had not been there for seven years and asked me to surrender there. And then a month after that, the DEA called and said you don't have an active medical license, so you can't hold a Drug Enforcement Agency license and we're going to need you to surrender that. So I had to explain each of those to, in great detail in a word document to the board and explain the story to them, you know, because obviously they said they all speak through the national registry boards and they're, they're, they're going to get a hold of California. They're probably going to speak to Oregon and the DEA too. Right. So I wanted them to be able to actually completely replicate, you know, and justify the story I gave them with the other, the other boards. But yeah, I don't know if it, I think it takes Florida a little bit longer, but they also probably had to meet about me and see if they wanted to add any stipulations on my license or make me do any re. Education. You know, that could have been a possibility.
Right?
Yeah.
And that's not what happened. I actually got a letter from the Florida Medical Board probably two weeks ago, and they said, you know, welcome to Florida. Have a great day. Here's your license.
Wow.
Cause for celebration.
Yeah. I was literally shocked. And so it was. We had a big celebration, my friends, and it's been a beautiful thing so far, you know, and I will be applying to more states as well, and I'm hoping that other states follow suit. And I think for the most part, most of, you know, at least half of the country doesn't agree with the mandates and the things that went on during the COVID years. Yeah.
Now I want to, I want to ask you, are you anti vaccine across the board? Are you anti vaccine schedule or where do you fall in all of that?
You know, I really think it's a personal choice for people now. I will say I think people have been misinformed. I think that the phrase safe and effective has been parroted for so many years that people don't even question. And when you can't even question science, it's not really science, it's more like a cult. Yeah. Right. And so, you know, we should be able to question things and not feel like we're going to be attacked by a mob for an agenda. And that's my problem is that have people been given true informed consent? And then if they haven't, well, we can't really just let it be their choice until they're fully informed. Yeah, right. That's the problem for me. So if people are fully informed, it's absolutely their choice. And I would say for me personally, if I was going to have a child, I would not vaccinate my child. That's my personal decision. And I think, you know, for me, I probably had 12 to 15 vaccines growing up. I wonder how much immunity against some of these, you know, preventable diseases that I have at this point. And so, you know, I also would really dig into risk and benefits and what one actually works and what one doesn't as well. I would do the research myself, but I've pretty much already done it. With the kid, it's a little different, but, you know, pretty much already done it. And that's my stance. But I do think that the CDC has gone a little vaccine happy with the schedule. I do think they've been adding things and I wonder often. In my personal opinion, I don't think it's for our best interest. I think it is money driven and I think that if they're so sure that things are safe and effective, then we shouldn't have immunity and protection for the vaccine manufacturers and that we shouldn't have a vaccine court that taxpayers have to pay their own money out of. You know, if they're so bold and beating their chest so much about how these work. Put your money where your mouth is and let people sue you if there's an injury. Yeah.
I mean, if they're truly safe, what do you have to worry about?
Exactly. Right.
There was a Joe rogan podcast with Dr. Suzanne Humphries. That one, I mean, she's just. She's amazing.
Yes, yes, she is the Chef's kiss.
But that was podcast 2294.
I have to go back and listen.
Where Suzanne Humphries went on the Joe Rogan Experience. And she is a former nephrologist who basically, like, was completely excommunicated from her job, from her profession, for, for coming out and saying. And. And she was basing this on what she was actually seeing in her practice with people, like, going into renal failure immediately after having gotten vaccines. And she really did.
She.
I think she took two years off of work to do this deep dive, which she paid for herself. It's not like she was employed. She. She paid for this deep dive herself, trying to figure out, like, what the hell was going on with these vaccines and this vaccine schedule. And I think she was dealing a lot with the transplant population because she was a nephrologist.
Yeah, that makes sense.
And they get vaccinated out the wazoo, as you might imagine.
And they're so immunocompromised for my friends, like, immune system is in the toilet because of the drugs they're on.
Yeah, they're. They're on a whole host of drugs which actually suppresses their immune system. So that's what makes the vaccines even crazier because they have no ability to respond in a positive way to these vaccines.
Yes, exactly. It makes zero sense. Make it make sense.
Are you ready for a brain breast cancer screening revolution? Well, I'm thrilled to introduce to you a breast cancer screening tool that I have only recently learned about. But I have universally adopted. This is the ARIA test. This groundbreaking at home breast cancer screening test is one that I believe will completely change the game. So imagine a screening test that's as simple as shedding a tear, because that's aria. It's a non invasive, convenient and perfect for all bodies and all breasts. Dense breasts, implants, no problem. ARIA makes it clear for everyone, even.
Women as young as 30.
Aria is backed by over a decade of clinical trials, thousands of samples, and it's developed alongside top breast health experts. Here's how it works. You collect a tear sample at home and then ARIA then analyzes it for protein biomarkers that can signal early breast cancer. And the best part, you get a consultation with a breast health specialist to review your results. Now, ARIA isn't replacing breast imaging. I am using it alongside qt. It's complementing it and giving you a fuller picture of your breast health. Knowledge is power and ARIA is putting that power back in your hands. It's time to take control of your breast health and ARIA is another way of doing it. Go to Aria Care a u r I a dot care and use my code, Dr. Gen 20 in capitals D r, J, e n n 20 to get 20% off.
Back to our show. For me, when I hear a story like that about Suzanne Humphries like that, I think, you know, if I was a patient, that's, that's the kind of doctor that I would want in my corner. Like a beautiful mind, a creative mind that goes against the grain, that questions the status quo, that doesn't drink the Kool Aid at the wa, you know, at the fountain every morning with the other doctors, necessarily, you know, like, you got to think for your own a little bit and ask questions. And I love somebody who goes against the system to ask questions. That's somebody I want in my corner. Yeah, I don't know.
But she wasn't doing it to be contrary.
Absolutely.
He was legitimately doing it to say, like, what is going on here? Right. Like, it was, it was the harm that she saw coming to her patients that made her ask questions. And I'm, I'm kind of in the same school of thought that you are in that I think that everyone should make their own decision. My, my thing is we should have medical sovereignty. We should have medical sovereignty about vaccines, we should have medical sovereignty about mammograms, we should have medical sovereignty about drugs. Like, we should be able to decide these things should not be dictated to us, especially because vaccines have not been proven to be safe and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying or hasn't.
Done the research and really just follows the, the, the line.
Yeah, I mean, they are, they're just doing what, let's face it, you and I did for many years when we went to medical school and we were told that these things were true and we just assumed that they were true.
I mean, listen, guys, she's sitting on a point, is that everyone should know here, which is you guys think we've got like hours of vaccine science under our belt in medical school and residency. And I don't know about you, Jen, and I was internal medicine. Like we should have been, should have been taught about this. Right? I was taught literally they work by stimulating the immune system. We're not really sure and they're safe and effective. Yeah, I mean, I was.
That's it. We, we were told they were safe and effective. And here's the schedule.
I think I would learn more about nutrition. I got probably five hours of nutrition in school, but I think I got more nutrition training than I did vaccine training about how they really work. Didn't you? Yeah.
The only thing that, what, what they made important in medical school was memorizing this schedule.
Yes.
That's where the stress was, not what they were doing or how they were working or whether or not they were safe or whether or not they were effective. We were told that. And we were just supposed to take that at face value.
Yes.
And the stress was on knowing the vaccine schedule. That's what was, that's what was on the test. And then the test was knowing the vaccine schedule.
That's right. And then they would like blend it in with like, you know, then you go on to like infectious disease, you know, classes or, you know, rheumatology. And the answer to every disease status, if there was a vaccine, was always the vaccine. Yeah. And so it was kind of bred into us further that way, in my opinion. Yeah. Yeah.
And then, you know, you think about the crazy stuff that we didn't question, like, why are we giving one day olds a hepatitis vaccine? Why? How, how is a one day year old gonna get hepatitis?
Right. Well, you know, that's the thing. I think the mother has passed it on to the child in the past, but it's extremely rare and it's like, where is, you know, they'll say it's not advantageous for everyone to have an MRI if they have this symptom because it's not, it's not, you know, priced correctly for the system. I mean, where did we find that this was the blanket best thing to do is give all infants a hepatitis B vaccine, you know, to protect the few that got it passed on from their mother. It doesn't even make sense to me.
It doesn't make sense. It doesn't make any sense at all?
No. At all. No.
And yet, you know, this is, this is what we're dealing with. And so I know for my part, I think everyone should be given the opportunity to make their own decisions, but they have to be given the facts. And right now they're not. So you, you know, you can like this current administration, you can hate this current administration. You can like rfk, you can hate rfk. All he's saying is that let's have some transparency. Like if they're really safe and they're really effective, show us the data and, and take responsibility.
Yeah, right. I really can't understand why people are so upset about that unless they have a vested interest or conflict of interest, then I, I mean, we shouldn't make this political. Even though it absolutely is at this point, point in time for horrible reasons, but it really shouldn't be. It should be an open, bipartisan discussion. Then everyone should want to know the truth and we should get past our own triggers really to ask and see the truth here. And the truth is there's never been a head to head vaccinated versus unvaccinated children study done because they say it's unethical. But you know, Dr. Paul Thomas, who's, you know, got the same fate I did in California, he actually did that head to head study. And in his, in his practice, thousands of children went through. The exact number is eluding me right now, but thousands of children went through his study over the course of like 10 to 15 years. And he found that there was less allergies, eczema and autoimmunity in children that were unvaccinated in his practice. Which is not surprising to you or I, of course.
I mean, you know, you're kind of asking way, way, way too much of the immune system and the immune system is failing.
And many of these people say, how can they cause autoimmunity? And I say, well, I mean, when you give a vaccine, you're literally triggering the immune system. So it's very obvious how it can cause autoimmunity later on.
Yeah, yeah, it can overreact, it can underreact. I mean, this is, it's setting the stage for autoimmunity. And as you started to talk about before, everyone's detoxification systems are different, so. And that is where I think genetics plays a huge role. And people ask me all the time, where do genetics fall in terms of breast cancer? And most of the time they're talking about do I have a BRCA mutation or one of those genes. But I don't think those genes are nearly as important as the everyday genetics that, that you and I deal with. Which how are you detoxifying the things that are coming to you through the air, through your skin, through your gut? What do your detoxification systems look like? How is your estrogen detoxification working? What support do you need? What support don't you need? You know, it's that kind of thing. And certainly no mainstream doctors are thinking about this at all.
And it just doesn't make sense to me. You know, I've definitely in. And I'm sure you too looked at your fair share of genetics, right, and seen how many people have MTHFR or a slow compt gene which makes them, you know, not break down adrenaline and cortisol and estrogen well at all either. They have differences in CYP phase one liver enzymes. They have difference in how fast or slow their phase two liver detox is as well. And so all of these things play a role in how people are able to empty their toxin buckets. When we inject something that bypasses the gut barrier straight into the bloodstream, where our gut is our main defense system. Right. So it's a different story. People say, oh, you know, all the questions, crap, I eat, you can give me a vaccine I all this crap. No, you don't understand how the body works. If you're saying something like that. Yeah, you're bypassing the barrier that protects you.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah.
So I know that you work with people on detoxification a lot, Right. Because it, it ends up really mattering in how healthy you are. Can you talk a little bit about how you approach detoxification?
For sure. I definitely would be remiss if I didn't mention that I always try and get people out of fly or fight first because what I've come to find in my recent years is that people need maybe half the time for a detox if I can get them to calm down and feel safe. It's really hard to heal a body you don't like. It's really hard to heal a body you don't feel safe in. So I try that first and then for detoxification, I really like people to like me and want to see me again. And that doesn't happen if you just Jump people right into a killing process or detoxification without any prepping of the body. So I really like to spend a good deal of time, like an hour with a person and ask about their triggers, traumas and antecedents. What happened when you got this label and what were you doing? What exposures have you had, you know, what runs in your family? And then I really spend time seeing where they might be stuck. You know, normalize. Talking about poop. Do you poop two to three times per day? Is it loose? Is it hard? You know, this tells me a lot about your gut, right? Do you see undigested food? That tells me about your bile pathway. Do you wake up in between 1 and 3am do you act like a tweaker with too much caffeine? Do you have three day hangovers? If you have a glass of wine, that's your liver, guys, right? Do you act like a homicidal person who's so hangry you're gonna kill somebody when you have a 24 hour fast that's also your liver? And so I have these certain questions. I can kind of see where people might be stuck. People will tell me I don't sweat. And I'm like, what? That's crazy. And they say, no, I've just listened my whole life. And I said, I know you like this, but this isn't a good thing. It's not great, guys. You want to be able to really break a hard sweat within 15 minutes in a sauna. And so I ask all my clients this when they come through to see me, because if they say yes to all that, they're pretty geared up and ready for a detox where we start killing things off, binding things up. Then we add things like saunas or, you know, hyperbaric oxygen or cold plunges, if guys really like that, to activate the system and hormesis within the body. And so, you know, but if people tell me no, especially if they can't poop, I'm like, no, no, no. This is a no.
No.
I can never put you on a binder and start killing things because if you can't release those things I'm killing off, they recirculate throughout the body. And then you feel like you have the flu and then you won't want to be my friend anymore. Yeah.
So, yeah, yeah, we're about to start a parasite cleanse with my group. And you know, that is my, like, hard stop. No. Like, if you're not pooping a couple of times every day, you are not, not ready to do a parasite cleanse.
Yeah, it just safeguard. It's just being nice to everybody, really. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, for sure. And with detox, slow and low is the key.
It is. And, you know, once everybody's ready, if they're really prepped, it really, you start seeing results pretty quickly, and people maybe have a day or two of feeling a little cruddy maybe at the worst case scenario. But if you've done it right, they pretty much slide on through with a couple hiccups here and there. And you know, what I've seen with parasite cleanses especially is I'll start, you know, mimosa, pudica seed, or, you know, wormwood, cloves, black walnut hole party arco, whatever it is. And especially the men, they will immediately write me and they will say, I am loving this parasite cleanse. You know, I have one patient, he literally couldn't pet dog dogs before. He couldn't eat a steak. He had so many food sensitivities, which is a heralding, you know, symptom of parasites. He also had these environmental allergies that parasites can cause too, because they push you in the immune system into overdrive. And so he couldn't even pet a dog. And this guy, like, loved dogs. So we started the parasite cleanse, and he said, oh, my gosh, I can pet dogs. Oh, my gosh. I had a steak last night, and I didn't have that many symptoms.
Wait, why couldn't he pet dogs? I'm not.
He would have have like, this allergic reaction reaction. Oh, his eyes would swell shot. He would feel like brain foggy and fatigued, like he had to take a nap. All that stuff. Almost like a chemical sensitivity to dander. Yeah. And so. And so he started being able to do this on the cleanse because we were removing the offending factors that were causing his immune system to react. And he said, listen, but I gotta slow down. And I said, what's wrong? He's like, I literally would, like, I'm gonna get defensive force, and I want to kill somebody at work. And every guy I give a parasite cleanse to, it's like the emotions that come up for them are irritability, like. Like short fuse almost. It's wild to watch them. But then all their. All the other symptoms, if we can roll through that and it's tolerable, they start to kind of fade away when you give them the right recipe.
Wow, that is really interesting. I so rarely work with men that I wouldn't. I wouldn't have that intuition. The Only time that I, That I get exposure to men is like the husband of my patient is doing the. Is doing the cleanse. And then, you know, maybe I'll get a question like, I know this isn't your area, but my husband's doing this. And what do you think?
Yeah, it's always the women that drag them over to me too. But, you know, that's why it sticks out for me because, you know, I usually see women. Women will get tearful. They might, you know, they'll have more signs and symptoms than, like, their body, in my opinion. The men have it in their irritability and moods, and that's why it sticks out to me. I see so few men that it's not the women that really act like that in the parasite cleanses very often.
Yeah. Interesting.
It's interesting.
Wow. And so when you are working with people on detox, how do you, how do you study them first in order to kind of determine what you're going to do with them?
Yeah, I mean, it really depends on what they're coming to me for. Most of the time when I see people, they'll have symptoms like weight resistance, brain fog, fatigue, joint pains. They might have headaches or really bad cycles, things like that. Right. And. And so I really, I spend an hour with everyone at first because I, I can't, you know, the eight minutes that doctors spend nowadays with people, I can't even find out where you came from at that point in time. I know it sucks. So I have to spend a long time with people and I really want to hear their pain points. And I have them start at the very beginning. Did you have a happy and healthy childhood and go from there on their timeline and tell. And have them tell me. And so if there's someone, I'll say to them, you know, are you someone that gets news at night? It could be good news. And then you don't sleep the whole night. You're like, pinged. And if they say yes, that's like a heralding sign of a slow comp T gene for me. And that means they can't break down cortisol and adrenaline and estrogen and things very well. And they're very sensitive. These are hypersensitive individuals with their nerve nervous system. And so I know that they can't handle, like, methylated B vitamins, which is things that kind of start off in the groundwork with people because most people do need those. And sometimes I'll see it in their blood work. And so, you know, I'll give Them something like Sami or hydroxycobalamin because they can't handle methylated B vitamins either. So I screen people like that. Right. I want to know, you know, what your daily life, nine to five is like. Because that's really where people do the healing is. And the daily, the details are in the devils. Right. Or the devil's in the details of their daily life.
Yeah.
And so, so I really want to know that with people. And you know, some people come to me and say things like, oh, I have the worst anxiety, it's awful. And then I find out they drink coffee all day long. You know, they were gonna tell me that if I didn't ask that they weren't gonna tell me that.
Yeah.
So. So I have to really dig into people's lifestyle and, you know, their reactions and their mindset and their belief system. It's all tied into their health. And that's how I can put people into kind of like archetypal boxes when I see what they need. And so I start everyone off with some form of B vitamins, some form of like minerals, some form of, you know, opening their liver and bile or bowels up. I may do one drainage pathway while I'm working, working on remineralization in the nervous system with them. And then for a detox, I almost always start with the parasite cleanse, no matter who it is. Yeah. And just, you know this Jen.
But just for me too.
Yeah. And it's because you pull heavy metals and mold spores and other toxins which live inside parasites. According to the studies, when you do a parasite cleanse, so it's kind of like killing three birds with one stone. And then, you know, I move on to, is there, you know, something like sibo, Is there something like sifo or fungal overgrowth somewhere in the gut, you know, and that could. These things often piggyback. You know, Epstein Barr virus is a big one that we see. And so people need individualized treatment. And so I spend a lot of time digging in to see where their pain points are and where they might not do well with a regular regimented protocol. And I never give them more than anyone more than six to eight things. Yeah.
Just out of curiosity, what. How do you respond to someone who says, like, I don't have parasites, I don't eat sushi.
Yeah, for sure. I. I say, well, okay, I will tell you that what happens is our ancestors actually parasite cleanse. They knew that there was just a toxic exposures throughout life at least twice a year. And the other thing is okay. If you don't believe in parasites, they really don't understand borders. And we don't have like the cleanest food in the US anymore. And you can get them from water, you can get them from animals looking you in the face, you can get them from children sometimes. And honestly, like, they're not the parasitic herbs, the anti parasitic herbs. They aren't just for parasites. They have this broad coverage that covers things like bacteria and yeast too. And so, you know, you can't really put them in a box as a parasite cleanse. I've had so many other people have sibo and even on a parasite cleanse feel so much better.
Yeah, it makes a huge difference for people. It really does. And I have everyone do it once a year and I wouldn't have anyone do anything that I wouldn't do myself. Right. So I'm actually like looking forward to it because I know that it's time. And. And the truth is that if you eat anything raw, you can get parasites. I have to find that video on Instagram where they cut into a banana and then they put the banana slice under the microscope and you like see them crawling and. Same thing, strawberry. Like it's their produce. They're there in. In, in raw produce.
Yeah.
And you're eating raw produce.
Wild caught salmon at Whole Foods. Have you seen those videos? Yeah. Can't get away from it, guys. They're part of the ecosystem.
That's exactly right. And I guess if you were talking about entering into a system that is immunocompetent, maybe they wouldn't be able to take hold.
Correct.
Who's immunocompetent these days? Like too much. Too much blue light. Too much light exposure, too, too much EMF exposure, Too much stress. Not enough movement or not the right kind of movement. Not enough sleep. We have so many over scheduled. We have so many reasons. And that's not even to say the bacteria, the viruses, the. All the other things that compromise our immunity. The vitamin D deficiency.
Oh my gosh, that's so bad too.
Everyone has that just in and of itself.
Every. So many people have that genetic mutation, vdr, and then they can't absorb it properly from the receptor. And so I had that too. My vitamin D was in the toilet with the rest of my labs because I couldn't absorb and assimilate anything. Right? Yeah.
And when we're talking about vitamin D, there are, there are three genes that we actually look at. We look at your ability to make vitamin D, we look at your ability. So that Happens in the skin. Right. A conversion of vitamin D2 to vitamin D3, which is the active form Y. And that only happens when you are, are exposed to midday sun. So when you're exposed to the UVB rays, which is a just a fraction of our sunshine. So the likelihood that you're out at the sun in the right time with the right amount of skin exposed, because you have to have 75% of your skin exposed. So most of us are not out there at the right time with 75% of your skin skin exposed to get to even make enough vitamin D. You're.
Right, that's so true.
And then you have to transport it from the skin to whatever cell that's going to use it. And then the vitamin D receptor has to work.
All that work for nothing. Yeah.
So there's like a lot of places that it can fail a lot.
And we're seeing it, we're seeing it in everyone. In my opinion, everyone that comes in to me, if they're not taking it, their vitamin D is like 20 to 40. Yeah, I agree.
And I mean I've seen people with cancer diagnoses like I've seen vitamin D is like a four.
Oh geez.
Like you just. And you wonder how these people aren't exhibiting symptoms of profound vitamin D deficiency, like.
Yeah, exactly.
It's so important and it's so crazy that we see the mainstream medical system get all up in arms about a vitamin D that's 100 but, but not responding at all to a vitamin D that's 13.
No. You know, they haven't been taught properly about how vitamins and minerals and antioxidants work to really power every reaction in our body and their CO factors and things like making ATP in the Krebs cycle and electron transport chain and you know, if you don't have enough minerals, they're going to be replaced by metals because metals look like minerals due to ionic mimicry. They have the similar charges. And so then it kind of acts like a traffic jam when you don't have, have the metals blocking and you don't have the minerals to make the cascade work properly. And then people can't make energy and they get sick and, and they just haven't been taught properly about how that happens.
It's such a shame because we do learn it right. Like we all learn the biochemistry in our first year of medical school and then we're just taught to forget it, that's all. Yeah, forget everything you learned and just memorize these symptoms and memorize the drug or the procedure or whatever that goes with it.
Yep. It's so true. And here's the pharmakinetics of the drug that fixes it.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. And that's what, that's what ends up being like on the test as you get further down the line. Like, they're not, they're not teaching you, they're not reminding you that this is what you need to do to fix the body. They're not reminding you that this is what's preventing you from functioning correct, functioning correctly. They're just saying like, oh, here's how you recognize the symptom and here's how you suppress it.
Right. And it's, that's the perspective change that when these medical doctors start coming, getting fed up of the system and they really, you know, we've all went it to help people. We all took an oath to help people. That's all why we went in it. And so when they start waking up and realizing that in functional medicine and you actually feel more rewarded in your career because you're actually helping people and they want to come over, that's the perspective change that they're going to need to have is not that the body is sick in wrong all the time and we have to give it the pharmaceuticals because, you know, it has a pharmaceutical deficiency. It's that the body is always correct and always trying to warn us and it's smarter than all of us doctors. And when they get that and they start believing people, people over papers, then things will start to change, in my opinion. Yeah.
Yeah. And the truth is that most people don't know how to read papers. So most of the stuff that's out there is just propaganda and garbage.
And.
At least in my world, cancer is not a chemotherapy deficiency. It's not a surgery deficiency, it's not a radiation deficiency.
Right.
Like there is real and true messaging going on in the body of someone that develops cancer, of someone that develops any chronic disease. There is real and true messaging happening there. But if you don't know how to read, you're not going to be able to help people. Now you are actually going through something kind of wonderful in your practice right now because you have these people that realize that the system is broken and they're frustrated and they want to come work with you and be with you, which is amazing.

Yeah, it's really cool. And I'm reconnecting with a lot of doctors. They went to medical school. If they reached out and sent me private messages during COVID saying, something's wrong. You know, we feel like the studies aren't adding up and I don't really trust this, what's happening. It doesn't feel right. And then afterwards, more came to me and they said, you know, we admire what you're doing. And I know they thought I was crazy before. I know they did for years, you know, before this was mainstream. You know, you look crazy. And so, you know, I know all about that. I thought you might.
I went from being the smartest person in the room to being off the reservation.
Out to lunch. Were you?
Yeah.
I mean, me too. I understand. So like, like, she's a quack. Oh, quack. Oh. So many times. I can't. I can't even tell you how many times I've been called that in my life. Now it's like, you might as well bat wear it as a badge of honor because, you know, absolutely. The studies are coming out. We were correct about a lot of things that we suspect respected about the industry and the agenda and other doctors are now coming to me too, and they're saying, we admire you and we want to work with you and how did you get where you are and will you teach me? And it's just a really humbling experience. And even for my friends that are naturopathic doctors and chiropractors, these are the People who taught me, you know, I mean, I hope that's validating for them because they are the ones who've been called quacks even longer than us.
Yeah, for sure.
Right. And they've been some of my best teachers. So, you know, my business partner is a chiropractor, and now the medical doctors are coming to, not just me, but him and saying, teach me, teach me. And it's, it's really, it's, It's a beautiful thing to watch, really is.
And I know that that's where a lot of your focus is going to be, on teaching practitioners. And we need people like you.
Yeah, we need people like you. Same for you. Likewise, girl. Honestly, I mean, we, your centers are going to help change the world and the trajectory for, for women.
I know it feels so enormous, but I'm so incredibly proud of it too.
You should be.
And, and scary.
Right?
Like, like there, there sometimes is like that tiny little voice in me that's like, what if you're wrong? And I'm like, no, I'm not wrong.
And you're like, if you are. Yeah, it's, there's. I mean, you know, it's always easy to doubt ourselves and, and it's really easy not to see yourself like everyone else sees you. Right. So I've experienced that a lot as well. Imposter syndrome, I think they call that. Right. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yep.
And you know, part of the time I'm grateful for that.
Right.
Because it makes me, it makes me double check myself. It's, it's my reality check. And like, it keeps me grounded.
Yeah.
Because it, I think were it not for that, I don't know that I would have continued to push and push and push and push and push, but because people try to knock you off your peg all the time. All the time.
Time.
And, and if I didn't, if I didn't have people questioning me, I don't think I would be so certain of what I believe in.
You know, when people question me and the skeptics and this and the censorship came for me, it really just made me dig my heels in deeper and go down rabbit holes more because I'm, I'm, I'm stubborn and learn the hard way. And so I'm going to try and stand my ground. If, if, if I need to be proven wrong, that's okay, too. But I didn't think many times in these situations I was even, you know, there was a little voice that let me know it was intuition. Let me know. Yeah.
But I, I Think the major difference between people who are just stuck in the system and not thinking outside of the system and people who have, for whatever the reason, like, seen the light and, and made that shift is that I am, I remain curious and I am not convinced ever that the story's over.
Right.
And that's, that's the major difference. Like, I just think about it in, in specific situations, like why are people who are advocates for mammography, why are their heels so dug in? Like it is so clearly an imperfect thing.
Standard of care, standard.
Why would you wagon and keep your wagon hitched to that, that dog of a technology?
I mean, the same thing can be said for the plethora of vaccines on the schedule today. And it's just literally repetitive speak from the. Yeah. Agencies.
Parroting.
It's total parroting.
It's total parroting. It's, it's, you know, they've said this is a standard of care. This is the gold standard. For years they've beat it into doctors, heads on boards and everything else. Yeah. And everything else. And this is a high level, high, high level of deep brainwashing that it's going to take years to unravel for people. And you know, science is slow, logic is fast. So I think that, you know, it's going to be, I think there was one study that showed the science that comes out, it takes 15 years to be implemented in real life practices. And sometimes we don't have 15 years with the way people's health are going.
Yeah, that's absolutely true. And you know, medicine is very slow to change and you and I are not sitting around waiting for it.
Right.
And the people that we help don't want us to be.
No way. Right.
They want help now.
Exactly. They want help now. And I think if we, the information is at our fingertips and we can't wait on the system to parrot it back to us to tell us what we should or should be doing. I mean, we are, you know, we went into a business and a career where we thought we were free thinkers who got to exercise our right and, and our educated opinion. And now our hands are often tied by businesses and suits behind the scenes. So. Yeah, I, I am not going to wait on that system to tell me what to do anymore. Yeah.
I'm curious how, what do you think of this whole hormone hormone replacement trend? And, and where, where do you think stand on all of it?
I am on bioidentical hormones as of two months ago. And it has made all the difference in the world. And I actually Should I would be. I should not forget to say this. I do think that was part of the way I turned things around in the last month. Because hormones are the scaffolding of your personality. They just are who you are. And if they're, you're in a, in a scarcity zone or a victim state because your hormones are off, it's not your fault. But you're not going to be able to manifest and create probably what you're looking to manifest and create. And that was my personal experience until I got everything balanced again, meaning my nutrients, my antioxidants and my hormones, which are the scaffolding of your personality. I really couldn't, you know, manifest from a place that I wanted to. And so now that I've been on them couple months, I feel so much better. I don't wake up tearful anymore. I, I'm sleeping better, I feel a lot more energy. I mean, I can look at a guy and think he's attractive now. That's nice.
That is nice.
That's nice.
Yeah.
So, you know, if you're thinking about it, like for me, I don't want to overshoot, I just really want to optimize and of course, yeah. And I think in a balanced way and I think sometimes people need, I needed testosterone, estradiol and progesterone.
Yeah. My worry is, yes, I, I agree with you. Right. I wholeheartedly agree with you. And I think the societies now agree with you. I think that the FDA now agrees with you and is, I think they're going to take that black box warning off of the, the estrogen products and the hormone products. The problem is that we have two generations of providers who have zero hormone training.
Zero.
Right.
Okay. And so if we decided tomorrow that hormones are what, what you and I and, and the people in the know have been saying that they are, which is safe, effective, I'm gonna throw in necessary and you know, for all those people that say that menopause is natural and Andapros is natural, whatever, like we were meant to be eaten by saber toothed tigers.
Right.
So the fact is that we don't have tigers anymore more. And we live far past menopause, most.
Of us, sorry, I don't think by the grace of God, all the endocrine disruptors and xenoestrogens out in the environment, that's exactly right.
I don't think that that's exactly right. And if you it from my standpoint, breast cancer, because let's face it, that's the thing that people fear Most about hormones, because that's the messaging that we were given from the Women's Health Initiative, despite the fact that leading up to that time, breast cancer was not a problem. And it didn't get to be not a problem afterwards when 50 million women stopped taking their hormones. But the problem is that breast cancer is not a disease of hormone excess. It's a disease of hormone deficiency. Because the hormones can't get to the receptors because they are being occupied by all of these xenoestrogens that didn't exist before.
Correct.
And we are seeing hormone dysfunction years before people have a breast cancer diagnosis and they're showing up as abnormal periods or what do we do about abnormal periods? We put. Put girls on birth control pills.
Right.
So we put them on these synthetic cancer causing drugs.
Right.
And then we're seeing infertility. And what do we do for infertility? We force a pregnancy on people and we give them synthetic drugs to force the pregnancy on them, further complicating their hormonal state.
That's right.
And then I see them in my office 10 years later. Because no one deals with the problem or the root of the problem.
And you know, it would be everyone women would woman would be really helped by, you know, a hormone zoomer or a Dutch test where we can look at the xenoestrogens, estrogens, we can look how they're processing, how their liver is working, how they're detoxing and their methylation is. That would be helpful with people who are especially concerned about the safety of bioidentical hormone replacement.
Tremendously helpful. But this is the problem. Who's going to do that? Because where are the providers with the training? So we do not have hormone literate providers. And if we decided tomorrow that hormones are safe, which they are. Bioidentical hormones are safe.
Yeah.
But they have to be delivered safely using a safe delivery method. You have to be tested so that. Because it's a Goldilocks thing.
Right.
We don't want too many, but we don't want too little either. Too little is as much of a problem as too many.
Absolutely. You guys, I could feel like the lack of estrogen and I test, I could feel like rotting my brain. I was like, my brain is not firing on all cylinders. Oh yeah.
I mean, before I went on, I would walk into a room, I'd be like, how did I come in here for? And I would leave and remember and come back in and forget and leave and remember. I mean, I would do this 10 times. It was Insane. I would have to, like, write things down in that second because five seconds later, I couldn't remember. Yup.
Right.
We have a mentor, Sam Horn, and she says, ink it when you think it. And she says that because she's a post menopausal woman. And who knows that if you don't write it down right, then it's gone and it's like a miracle. And even no matter how real it feels in the moment, like, I won't forget that five seconds later, gone. Just gone.
Right.
I totally resonate. I. I think that hormones are so important, but we don't have the providers to provide them. We're not given the education on how to do it safely. I mean, I went through Dr. David Rosensweet's program, the menopause method, and thank God I did, because literally, if I was taught any of this at any point along the way, it is so long gone that it was a total education for me.
Yeah.
To go through his program. And who's doing that? Like, who is taking the time out of their busy, busy lives to. To retrain.
Right. And. And I don't even in my. Dare I say this, but in my personal opinion, I saw a lot of obgyns who didn't know how to read hormones because they would just do blood work. And then you guys don't know this probably, but they give you this abnormally large window safety, like, therapeutic range.
95% of people will fall within the.
Therapeutic range, and 95% of people's hormones are not normal. Yeah. So. So there's a discrepancy there for me and the doctors when she says docs don't know how to read hormones. It's even OB GYNs because of this huge reference range on the blood work. And they only check blood work because that's all they know how to do. Yeah. And then, you know, they're like, oh, your hormones are good. They don't. I don't even think they look at a ratio of progesterone to estrogen.
No, they don't. They definitely don't. And, you know, that's another part of the problem, is that we think that the OB GYNs are hormone experts.
Yeah, I did.
They're surgeons.
I thought that's what they're trained to do.
They're trained to operate and deliver babies, but they are not trained to be endocrinologists. And almost all of the ones that are working now were not working during the time when women were prescribed hormone replacement. And so if the only thing they know is birth control pills. That's it. They don't know anything outside of birth control pills. And they don't even know what's wrong with birth control pills.
Right.
They might have read the Danish study of 1.8 million women who showed a of lot linear relationship with the length of time that you're on birth control pills and the risk of developing breast cancer. Maybe, maybe, maybe they read that study and so they have some sense of, well, maybe you shouldn't be on birth control pills for a long time, but, like, we shouldn't be using birth control pills at all for anything.
Right, right.
Like they cause cancer. We should not be using them.
I know. And there I've seen so many crazy conventional doctors online make fun of, call me and other doctors, quacks for saying it's a stage one carcinogen as grouped in the same group as asbestos. But it is. And they don't like it when you say that. They're like, this is old, blah, blah, blah. There's still, it's a very small risk of cancer. And they say all these things and spin it.
I mean, it's just amazing to me because it's that same mentality with a mammogram. Like, mammograms are safe. Really. When did radiation become safe? When did.
Yes.
When did radiation not become a known carcinogen? Because the last time I checked, it is.
And this is what the medical radiation.
Like, the same kind that Jack got his magic beans.
And that's what the medical industry does. It, it tells you it's generally recognized as safe or grass, that the effects are so negligible, that the amount is so small and negligible that it won't harm your health. But they don't think about how this is ubiquitous in the environment and things stack up and. Or some things don't break down. They're forever chemicals. So when no one takes into account that these things aren't generally recognized as safe in the amounts that we are exposed to every single day. Yeah.
And it's just, it's astounding to me. And yet you say to someone, well, so if a little bit of a poison is okay, do you. Do you want to take a little bit of arsenic today or a little bit of heroin? I mean, which poison are you okay with having a little bit of?
Here, drink this. Roundup ready?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, it is so astounding that we, we just like tell this story in the instances that we want to hear it and people believe it and people are guilted if they don't go have a mammogram. Right. Like they're somehow doing something wrong. They're. They're as afraid to get one as they are to not get one.
I think that, too. I hear that from a lot of women.
Yeah, I agree. It's just a crazy narrative. Despite the fact that the data support supporting getting mammograms is not there. Like, we've been told that they save lives, but the reality is very different. The reality is they don't save lives.
I know I won't be getting one.
I can tell you that.
I'll be going to your center in Tampa.
People are like, I can't believe you prescribe hormones to people without doing mammograms. And I'm like, why?
What.
What is a mammogram going to do other than increase the risk of getting cancer?
Right.
Yes. Increase the risk of getting biopsy as well.
But the last thing that I do want to say about hormones, and you alluded to this as well, is they're not the thing. They're the bow on top of the thing. Right. And the thing is all that. It's all the stuff inside of the box.
Right.
They're definitely the bow on top of the box, and they complete the package for sure. But you can't take hormones and be drinking a bottle of wine every night and be eating out every night and not be moving your body and not lifting weights and not prioritizing sleep and being a couch potato or netflixing every night or, you know, surrounding yourself with all of these toxins that we talked about and drinking out of plastic and on and on and on. Right. You're not going to hormone your way out of that.
No. You can't biohack your way out of that at all, actually. No.
So you got to do the things and that. Those are my requirements. Like, none of my people are getting mammograms. But I can tell you what they are doing is they're giving up alcohol. They're lifting weights. They're eating real food. They're not drinking out of plastic. They're not wearing perfume. Like, they're not.
They. They're.
They're doing the other things to drive health, because that's what we need to do.
Yeah, that's. I mean, those are just the pillars that are the foundational steps before anything else is added. Like all these peptides and injections and everything else everyone's doing. Like, are you doing those steps first? That's really the foundational things that everyone should be looking into first. Yeah.
And we have to be. I mean I know so many people on the weight loss peptides and it doesn't matter which one but you know, you can eat your way around them. Not everyone loses weight. Right. Because you have to make the changes.
I've definitely seen people have like a plethora of metals and like self pathogens and not be able to lose weight too. It's really interesting with a subjectable. It's really interesting for me and I have a lot of patients who are on them.
I, I think that's another example of. That's the bow on top of the box. And if you're not, if you're not doing the other things, it's not going to work.
No.
And I mean it will impose some anorexia.
Right.
And.
But it's, but you're not going to get healthier and it's really not going to work for you.
No, it's. And you know, we, there are a lot of positives that have come out from what I hear from people, but there are also a lot of negative things that have come out too. And it just worries me to really, really jump on board and think something is amazing when there needs to be longer term studies. In my opinion, it's such a new drug that I just like to kind of see in the long run what happens. Yeah.
Although I think you and I have a mutual friend, Dr. Tina Moore.
Yes.
And she has been using at least semaglutide in the, in the microdose range for many years and both personally and professionally sees tremendous benefits from it.
And I trust her.
I do. Yeah.
But most people are not doing microdosing. Most people are using what they believe to be therapeutic doses. Some of them are super therapeutic doses.
Oh. I think the dose they tell people to go up to is super therapeutic.
I mean. Oh yeah.
Self gastroparesis. Yeah. Yeah. And.
And that's when you start seeing all of these complications.
So. Yeah.
This story is not yet written.
Right.
And I'm not in support of, of using it as a weight loss drug in those high doses because I think that you're right. We don't know. But I have seen some really nice outcomes from microdosing.
Yeah. I think that that is moderation is key in everything. Right. We see this in health too. Yeah.
So absolutely.
Yeah.
Dr. Jess, where can people find you? Yeah.
So I would say there are layers and there's a hierarchy to working with me or finding me. So I give a lot of free information on social Media. I'm insta famous, if you will. Dr. JessMD, you are insta famous. Really the only platform I do, I do a little bit of YouTube, a little bit of Facebook. That's my big one. And lots of free health information on there. I also have a do it yourself wellness plus platform@wellnessplus.com where you can do it yourself and use my trademark protocols and things that we talked about a lot in this episode to heal yourself and be your own best doctor. And then finally, if you don't like the DIY approach, that's all good. I also have a virtual clinic that people can come and see me in. I am a little booked out, I think till October or November, but not terrible. And you know, I have a whole team that helps me there. And everyone gets a total tox test and blood work. So I look for inflammation. I look for why you can't lose weight. They look at hormones and we look for mold and heavy metals and all the the xenoestrogens. So yeah, so it's super fun. I have a blast working with everyone and that's really how people can jive with me. You can do it for free. You can pay for the membership or pay to see me, but either way, I hope you guys get what you need. I think it's really cool that we can put information out there and help, help people without ever meeting them. It's amazing. Yep.
Yep. And I mean, you know, for my part, it's why I left surgery because I knew that I needed to do something so much bigger.
And you are. I mean, I just. It's just been really fun to watch you explode. It's been really fun.
Thank you. Thank you, my dear. Well, this has been really fun and I loved being here with you and sharing you with my community because I know that there's going to love you.
Like I love you.
And we'll have to have you back sometime soon. And for everyone who joined us today, thank you for being here. Share this with someone that you know needs to hear it because if you love them, you know that this was an important conversation and that they need to hear it. And so, you know, I'll be back next week, same time, same place. It's Dr. Jen. Bye for now.
It.
