Dr. Juna Bobby created Harriet of Harlem, a 7-year-old with big curly "galactic" hair who goes on learning adventures with friends like Charlie the Comb and Barbara the Barrette. The character came from wanting to show that being different, like having distinctive hair, is an opportunity for representation and storytelling.
