As a radiologist, I spent so many years looking at disease from the inside out, and a lot of these were preventable— heart disease, cancer, diabetes. So one day I started to talk to my patients about ways that they could prevent cancer, and I got so excited about preventing all the diseases that I actually left radiology. Here's the thing that I told every single patient: your daily habits are writing your future medical report. Yeah, I've seen it all show up inside people's bodies and on their scans. The good news is that we all know what to do, but it's how we should do it, how to train our brains towards more healthier habits. The amazing thing is that our brains are plastic. Neuroplasticity. It doesn't mean like we can mold it or anything, but we can train it to change neural connections so that we can train ourselves towards new behaviors at any age. And that's not motivation talk, that's reality. Hi there, I'm Dr. Juna Bobby MD. I'm a board-certified radiologist, Harvard-trained educator, and I teach the science of resilience at the Juilliard School. Follow me to automate these healthy behaviors. I call them microhabits, and we'll bake it into your life.
