REJECTION PART 2: THE ORIGIN OF REJECTION | DR MIKE WOODS SR | THE APOSTLES TABLE | 7-6-2021

In this 20‑minute Apostle’s Table sermon, Apostle Dr. Mike Woods Sr. explains that the "spirit of rejection" is a demonic lie designed to oppress believers and non‑believers alike. He describes two primary ways the spirit operates: (1) causing over‑compensation—people try to prove themselves by acting beyond their true identity—and (2) causing under‑estimation—people feel unworthy and limit themselves to others’ negative opinions. Woods defines oppression as organized mental pressure that blocks progress, likening it to a defensive strategy in sports. He links the spirit to mental health struggles, noting that depression, anxiety, and other disorders often stem from this oppressive stronghold. The sermon critiques the church for teaching religious practices without helping congregants experience God’s love directly, and calls for discernment, spiritual filling, and awareness that God’s love is constant and greater than the feelings of rejection. Throughout, Woods urges listeners to share the message, pray for deliverance, and support his ministry financially. He concludes with a prayer breaking the spirit of rejection and a promise to continue teaching the topic in future episodes.

We thank you for the light, the illumination, and the intelligence of the Holy Spirit. So Father, have your way today in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. And thanks be to God. Hallelujah. Well, you ought to give God praise and glory. You know, I'm super excited to share with you today. I'm not going to be long, but this segment is probably going to last about 20 minutes, so stay with me. Please don't scroll. As a matter of fact, what I need you to do is share this teaching right now. It's going to be phenomenal, so I need you to tag someone you love share with your family and friends, share it to your timeline, share it into your favorite group. So somebody needs to hear this. People do not realize just how strong and how powerful the spirit of rejection is, and how it has caused so many people to move in realms of living that really was not the will of God. So please share this. If you're coming in with us right now I ask you to do me the kind favor, ladies and gentlemen, and please like this, please comment, please share. Listen, I promise you, you will be blessed for being a blessing. The Bible said we're blessed to be a blessing. So if this word blesses you, you want to share it with someone else, right? So do that for me right now. Glory to the name of God. So tonight, let's jump right into this. I believe that there's something God wants to say to us. Hallelujah! And I believe that you're ears are ready. And if you're here, you're supposed to be here. So please, again, do not scroll. If someone shared this with you and you're watching, you need to listen. Glory to the name of God, because they love you. And if you're here, you need to understand the spirit so you can identify in people around you, even if you feel like you don't deal with it. But I want to tell you something, a large majority of people on earth move in their life, and they live on a substratum that is basically fueled by this demon. And I'm gonna tell you why. Because the spirit of rejection, it does two things in a nutshell, basically. And we're going to talk about these tonight. One, it will cause you to always overcompensate because you've been rejected. What do you mean, Michael Woods? Let me tell you. Because you've been rejected, guys, a lot of times what it causes you to do is really overcompensate for who you really are and what you're really carrying, what you're really walking in, which means you start thinking more highly of yourself than you should. And the scripture warns us that we should not think more highly of ourselves than we are. Are y'all hearing me? It tells us clearly that we should think humbly and live sober lives. Glory to God. But rejection will cause you to start trying to be something, do something you're not, just so you can prove to the people that rejected you— are y'all hearing me today— that you are somebody. And reality is God never called you to live like that. And then secondly, this spirit comes in, and for some people, instead of overcompensating, it causes them to underestimate themselves. It makes them feel unworthy. It makes them feel like, oh my God, how would God use me? He'll never use me because they thought this of me. And you start defining yourself by other people's opinion of yourself. And when you do that, you're limited to their revelation of you. But I got good news tonight. God sees you in a great way. Oh, glory. He sees your great value. And as a matter of fact, you're still necessary, because if you wasn't still necessary, let me tell you something, you'd already be dead. But the very fact that you can hear my voice tonight and I'm speaking to you and you're engaging with me tonight, you're supposed to be here, because if your heart is still boom, boom, boom beating in your chest It means you're supposed to be here. Glory be to God. Hallelujah. Otherwise you'd already be dead. That's why when you went to commit suicide, it didn't work. Glory to God. Because you're supposed to be here. Glory to God. That's why when they put the gun to your head and tried to fire it, it wouldn't go off and it was loaded. Because— oh, because you're supposed to be here. That's why the divorce didn't kill you. Hallelujah. You being abandoned by your parents, being abused, it didn't kill you because You're supposed to be here. You're necessary. And God got— God, my God, he has great plans for your life. Let me get into this. Glory to God. So this spirit of rejection, guys, it's an oppressive spirit. It oppresses believers and non-believers alike, man, and it impeaches large service If you missed yesterday, Sunday's message, make sure you go back to Sunday's messages on my timeline, in this YouTube library somewhere, on my Facebook page. Make sure you watch message number 1. It's very important. I laid a great foundation there for you. But you got to understand, this is a very oppressive spirit. What do you mean, Michael, is when you say oppressive? I'm glad you asked. Oppress— op 'oppress,' which means it is operational stress. It is stress that is organized or ordered for a particular task and reason. In other words, oppression comes to stop something else. It comes to oppose progress. And this spirit of rejection opposes progress. It opposes forward movement. It is an oppressive spirit. And so many people are stuck and they cannot move into their true selves. Listen, and I don't care how much money you have or don't have, or how big your house is or how small your house is. Success is not defined by material gain. Success is defined by spiritual progression and the fulfillment of purpose. So you're really not successful unless you're progressing spiritually and fulfilling purpose. This spirit of rejection is an oppressive spirit. It robs you of purpose, it robs you of joy, and ultimately it robs you of peace. Glory to God. Oppression is mental pressure or distress. There again, that's organized to stop movement. If you, uh, think about a football game or a basketball game, the— even though the defense is playing defense and it's called defense, it is actually them acting out oppression. They want— they want to stop the movement of the other team toward the goal. Hear me? So that the team doesn't score and beat them. And that's really what this oppressive spirit rejection does. It is a tactic of the enemy— hear me, glory to the name of God— that pushes or pressures you down into moods and emotions that block you from experiencing the freedom that God and his Holy Spirit have come to allow you to enjoy in life as you serve him. I've never seen so many sour, mad Christians who are oppressed. They go to church, they read the Bible, they worship, they are oppressed. And most of them go through mental Derech. And, and listen, I'm gonna tell you something. Mental illness is a big thing in the world today. And most of the time, people who are mentally ill, who literally need medication to get their mood up, to get them to be ignited toward passion, it comes from oppression that arose moods, oh my God, out of a situation in their past. And we're going to talk tonight where this thing come from. So it's a tactic that the enemy used to put you down in these moods, to block you from progress, from freedom. Watch this. More than anything, the enemy, through the spirit of rejection and the oppression that's attached to it, he wants to stop you from experiencing in fullness the love of God in your life. Do you realize God really loves you? So rejection comes to take you out of a realm where you're actually receiving God's love. Oh my God, oh my God. And that's not the will of God. God, he doesn't want you to have a religious life where you go to church, read the Bible, you pray, and you never really experience his presence, his love, and all of the benefits of really serving God and living for God for real. That's really what he wants you to experience, ladies and gentlemen. So when you're oppressed, does it mean that God has left you? Does it mean that God is not concerned when you're— when you've been rejected and you getting this place. And some people get here and they don't really know how to navigate out, including Christians. So they turn— and again, nothing against, um, mental health care, people who seek counselors, people who speak to therapists. I think it's very healthy, glory to the name of God, to be able to dialogue with someone who can give you solution and direction to where you are. I, I think I think it's great to speak to someone you can trust information with. I, I think it's great. However, what I want you to understand is, as a believer, you and I as believers— for those of you that are watching me that believe in God— the church has robbed many people of the opportunity. Hear me, and I'm a pastor of a church, so I have to tread lightly right here, but the, the body of Christ as a in many instances over history have robbed people from having a true relationship with God. We have taught very effectively— and I say we even though I don't participate in that, but I'm a part of the body of Christ, so I have to take responsibility to a certain end. This is why I have to defuse it and expose it. But to a certain end, ladies and gentlemen, the church has has been very, for lack of a better word, ineffective in causing its parishioners and those who connect with the body to actually know the God of the church. We've taught people to know church, we've taught people to know the preacher, we've taught people even to love the scripture, to love prayer, to love gifts, to love the anointing, but we really haven't taught them how to tap into a dimension dimension of God that in many a time— oh my God— is unseen by the religious believer. And let me tell you something, you can be in a very charismatic church where gifts are talked about and even displayed in the church, but you can be very detached from God yourself. You ain't got to say nothing. I've been, I've been leading charismatic people for 32 years, and here's what I understand. There, there are people who miss it because— and I have been at fault many times because in those settings I think people should just get it. But everybody doesn't just get it. And I think just because they're there, they're going to get it. And that's not the case. And a lot of times leaders, especially spiritual leaders who have prophetic anointings and apostolic anointings on their life like myself, We tend to mind the flow of the Spirit and pay close attention to it. That sometimes— listen, guys, we can miss the believer that's sitting there that doesn't plug in. And I've even been guilty of saying, you better come and go with me, and if you don't get it, you're not— if you don't get this, you're going to miss it. When really I should have been discerning those that wasn't plugged in. And now in my latter years, I'm more in tune, even if I'm on the road preaching in my local church or dealing with the leaders I cover, people who are not attached even when they think they are. It's the ones that think they are who know I see them And when I start coming for that spirit, that spirit of rejection— here we go, I'm still there— it detaches them because they think a lot of times through instruction I am rejecting them when really I'm trying to build them up. That's why we got to deal with the spirit, man, because God still loves you no matter where you are. He has not left you, but he does want your God consciousness to raise and there to be a paradigm shift in your thinking when it comes to the things of God. Because again, charismatic one, or revival culture one, it doesn't mean— glory to the name of God— just because you talk about it all the time and even display it, that everybody in the midst of you is getting it. Because some people have to be— oh my God— detoxified and reprogrammed because religion has done such a bad job again of introducing people to God. So here's what you want to know, no matter where you are, guys: God's love, it never fails. It never fails. You— I don't have time to get in it today, but go to Psalm 136 when you get a chance and read it, and you'll see that the Bible shares with us that the love The love of God in Psalms 136, it never fails. It's constant, it's consistent, it will always be, right? So you gotta discern what you feel from what is really true, because a lot of times this oppressive spirit comes and make you feel unloved. It makes you feel like no one cares. You're invaluable. But you got to have some discernment. And every believer filled with the Holy Ghost has the gift of discernment. Now, whether you use it or not, if you feel— come on, I didn't say somebody told you you was filled. I'm saying, you know, you was filled by the experience. You had the experience of being in filled with the Holy Ghost. Listen to me. And when you've had that experience for real— I'm not talking about somebody took you in the back room and taught you tongues. I'm talking about you had an encounter with God. He took over your body. He took over your language. He took over your life. And your life was changed from that day forward because you were filled with the Spirit. That's what the Bible said, be not drunk with with wine wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit. So don't be intoxicated by the spirit of rejection, by the spirit of oppression. Don't get so intoxicated by what you're feeling right now— the despondency, the down mood, the rejection. Glory to the name of God. But be filled with the Holy Ghost and experience the love of God, but, and then discern Hallelujah! That his love is greater than what you feel. I want to tell you, his love is greater than what you feel. So let's start this, let's get into this. I'm not— my time is almost gone. Listen, because I'm gonna come right back tomorrow. So because I want to give you little short messages so you'll come back tomorrow and listen, I don't want to draw this out. I want you to get this nugget today. So let's talk today just really quickly, enough introduction. About where the spirit of rejection come from. Hallelujah. Let's talk about what it really is, the nature of this spirit. So here's what I want you to type on the screen. I want you to type it just like this. Type: the spirit of rejection is a lie from the enemy. I'll say it again, the spirit of rejection is a lie from the enemy. I want you to understand something, the devil has no ability to tell the truth. Everything he presents is a lie. Everything he presents is false pretense of something that's real. Watch this, the Bible said he comes as an angel of light. The Bible also says he comes as a roaring lion, not that he is a roaring lion. He comes as one. Oh my God, he roars like one. He may even dress up like one, but he's not one. He— behind that is only to deceive you. He comes as an angel of light. He'll come representing something that's right and good, and you'll start following after it. This is why you got so many women out here, man, who marry the wrong men, because they show up— oh boy, here we go— with the spirit of Satan on them, and the spirit of— they're carrying the spirit of rejection to impart— oh my God— oppression into your life. So you marry them because you have a need to be loved. And you ignore all of the obvious red flags. The financial red flags, you ignore. The sexual red flags, you ignore. Listen, a real woman can tell a man on the down low. Y'all not saying nothing because she gonna put on discernment and discern that this brother— are you hearing me? He don't want no woman. Something, something in you is going to tell you something's wrong about that. Listen, and I'm saying that because, you know, this number keeps growing. 78% of all new AIDS cases are heterosexual women who say they only sleep with men. Well, how can that be? It means they're being deceived. By a man that's on the down low, that's sleeping with women. I'm— that's on the down low, carrying his— he's sleeping with men on one side and bringing his disease into the relationship with women. Now, y'all ain't got to say nothing. And watch this, I think you might say, well, you can get AIDS other ways. Yeah, you can, but 93% of all AIDS HIV cases are transmitted through sexual intercourse. Now take that to the bank, and a whopping 89% of the transmission come from men who sleep with men. And at the end of the day, the reality is, sisters, you got to use a little more discernment. Let me just give you a little help on how you can discern. I don't care how saved a man is, hear me, A man is a man, and if you date him, even though you may tell him no, and you should— hear me— a real man is going to try to get in your panties. I'm telling you right now. Yeah, I said it. I'm just telling you the truth. A real dude is going to try. He's going to try to rub on you. He's going to try to do something. Listen, and you may reject him and say, no, we can't do this till we get married. But a real man is going to try. Y'all ain't saying nothing. I see your quietness through the camera. Listen, the reality is a real dude is going to try you. But a lot of times you get hoodwinked and all you're doing is quoting scriptures and shouting at the church. And you seeing his pants may be a little too tight anyway, his wrist may be a little too limp anyway, and you still accept him in and marry him. And then on the flip side, you got a dude that can be always trying to get in your panties and, uh, and, and just as humble pie while he's dating you. And when you marry him, he becomes this dude that abuses you and beats you because something in you, that spirit of rejection, opened up to him so he could fulfill his purpose of oppressing you. You gotta use discernment. I said all that to say it's a lie. He comes as an angel of light. He comes representing something he's not. Lord, I took too much time on that. You, you got to know, glory to the name of God, what you're working with, because it comes to oppress you and keep you stuck. So the spirit of rejection, first of all, so if it's a lie from the enemy, what is it lying about? I'm glad you asked. It lies about, number one, God's love and your worth. It's constantly telling you God don't love you. You ain't worth nothing. If God loved you, you wouldn't be here. If God loved you, you wouldn't be going through this. If you were worth this and you were worth that, you wouldn't be broke. You wouldn't be alone. You wouldn't be by yourself. Again, that's that spirit of rejection constantly rehearsing over and over again that God doesn't love you and that you're not worth anything. And then you settle for whatever shows up. Can I announce to you, ladies and gentlemen, God does love you. I know it's simple. You are worth more than you could ever imagine to God. Listen to me. He loves you and you're worth more than you can ever imagine to the Lord. I need you to hear that. I need you to know that he loves you, and the enemy will constantly lie to you about that. Glory to God. But when you understand the enemy is lying— watch this— about your worth, he's lying— oh boy— about God's love toward you. When you understand it's a lie You can refute the lie and begin the process of being healed, delivered, and set free from the spirit. Secondly, the enemy— so y'all remember, it's a lie. But in spiritual warfare, the enemy uses this stronghold call rejection to keep you where you are. He— what, again? He builds up a stronghold in your mind, your will, your emotions, which is your soul. And he oppresses you in your mind, your will, your emotions, your soul. You're gonna always be sick, you're gonna always be broke, you'll never have a happy marriage, you'll never get married, you'll never have anybody. He builds up this strong— what's a stronghold, Michael Woods? A stronghold wall literally is a wall built, whether naturally or spiritually, that's designed to keep what's out out and what's in in. And a lot of times people do not— watch this— they'll remain in something painful or remain in something that's not allowing them to grow because they fear rejection. Watch this, they fear that if they walk away, it may be ruled out as failure. And then they feel like they're going to be rejected. But some things, if it's not the will of God, you just got to throw your hands up and walk away from it. Oh my God, because the enemy will use this stronghold to keep you planted in a place or in a thing, in an assignment that's not the will of God. Oh my God, listen, the word of God God can work in your life to set you free. I want to pray right now. My time is gone. I really want to keep teaching, but I can't. Listen, join me again tomorrow. I'm going to drop this like it's hot again. Listen, I need you to understand God loves you. And so, Father, in the name of Jesus, release the love of God to these your people. And I decree and declare that they they will never be bound by the spirit of rejection again. I pray that you will open the eyes of their understanding, that they may be enlightened to know that the spirit of rejection is oppressive, and it comes to hinder them, to cause them to overestimate themselves and underestimate for some. But in the name of Jesus, I decree and declare that this spirit be broken and defeated now in the lives of your people, in Jesus' name. Amen. And thanks be to God. Listen, thank you for listening today to the Apostle's Table. Join me tomorrow, same time. Listen, I'm gonna keep dropping this all month about the spirit of rejection. We're going to teach it longer on Sundays, but every day I'm gonna drop these little nuggets on you on how to deal with— today we learned that the spirit of rejection is a lie from the the enemy. And guess what it is? I love you guys. Listen, if you want to give, Radah Church on Cash App. Radah Church on Cash App. Plant a seed into this ministry if it's blessing you. I love you guys.
