Stay in the Pot!

Michael Lyris Woods uses a simmering soup pot as a metaphor for staying within your team and submitting to authority. He describes a three-step apostolic process: first, apostles measure your strengths and weaknesses; second, they manage and develop you; third, you master your assignment before gaining authority. Stepping out independently weakens the collective purpose.

Soup is a lot like family. Each ingredient enhances the other. Each batch has its own characteristics, and it needs time to simmer to reach full flavor. So go back to that, man of God, because I want you— this is— Marge Kennedy said this: But when you got a family of people, all of you are in a soup pot for the world. It takes the effectiveness of your leadership.
Yeah.
And so that leadership has— watch this— different characters. If you got some vegetable soup, there are all kinds of vegetables in it. Very good. The carrots are different than the corn. The corn is different than the string beans. The string beans are different than the tomato. Now whether you are tomato or corn, wow, I want to be clear, you're important. Yeah, but you cannot be strong if you don't stay in the pot and stay a part of the team. Yo, you weaken the team when you get out the pot and start trying to be corn by yourself. You're not soup anymore, you're just this, this morsel of corn that's trying to exist on your own and you're not helping the cause. So what I want to say to you this morning, no matter how anointed you get, remember you're in the pot.
Listen, hallelujah!
And you're in the pot that's simmering for a bigger purpose that's bigger than you. Hallelujah! This is why you're a part of the team. Yeah. And I have to remind people a lot as a leader, people come to me and say, well, Dr. Woods, I, um, I just believe that God is calling me to do something different, and you know, I don't think that I'm a part of this anymore, and this is my season. And I say to them, number one, you didn't simmer long enough.
Oh Jesus!
Because when you come into an apostolic pot, the first thing an apostle does Working God is measure where you are. Yes, this is the problem with the church and apostles. Real apostles is going to measure you.
Yes, sir.
They're going to tell you your weaknesses.
Come on.
They're going to put a metronome on you and tell you your strengths.
Come on.
And then they going to tell you what you need to do to get better. And you got to stand apart once you've been measured And what that simmering process is called? Management. See, when you're in an apostle's house, apostles manage you. That management phase is a development. Somebody said, I don't want to be managed.
I'm good.
That is the issue, because you can never be effective if you don't submit to authority.
I'm sorry, somebody said I didn't have to be able to do this.
Let me tell you something. If you want to be great, if you want to be a dominion leader, you got to submit to management. You can't show up at a job and just do what you want to do and the manager is giving you an assignment, because guess what? They're going to fire you and you won't get your check. So why is it you think you could come up in the house of God and not have management? And that's what happens in the apostolic house. Jesus, I know you grown, but your maturity is connected to your ability to submit. Jesus, and be managed. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Are y'all hearing me?
Yes, sir.
Watch this. His third tier, the Apostle Meshach. He manages, and then watch this, he teaches you how to become a master of that that he measured, of that that he managed. See, when you get out the pot too soon, you disdain mastership. Yes, yes. And you should not be deployed into your area of dominion, authority, and leadership until you've mastered it. Yes, yes, yes, that's it. We got too many bums out here already who jumped ship before they got mastered.
Wow.
Lord have mercy. Just touch somebody and say, I'm not a bum.
I'm not a bum.
Say, I'm willing to be measured. I'm willing to be measured. I'm willing to be managed.
I'm willing to be managed.
Because I want to be a master.
Because I want to be a master.
Clap your hands and praise God. Come on, praise him in the name Hey! Hallelujah! Hey! Glory to God!
