The Apostles Table | The God of Plenty, Part 6 | Dr. Mike Woods Sr. | 7-9-2020

In this live‑stream sermon, Dr. Michael Lyris Woods Sr. opens the Apostle’s Table ministry, reminding viewers that the series “The God of Plenty” reveals how believers already possess divine abundance. He focuses on Part 6, a deep dive into the name El Shaddai (God Almighty). Using Genesis 17:1‑2 and other biblical passages, Woods explains that El Shaddai signifies God’s power, sufficiency, holiness, wilderness presence, and role as a destroyer of enemies. He stresses that true blessing follows obedient, servant‑like devotion—described as becoming a “bond slave” to God—rather than mere transformation. A personal anecdote illustrates how listening to God’s “no” leads to greater alignment with His will. The sermon concludes with a prayer for sufficiency, a call to share the message, and an invitation to live as a blessing to others.

Welcome to the Apostle's Table. I'm so glad you're here today. For those of you who are uninitiated, my name is Mike Woods, and I get so excited every time I get an opportunity to share with you. Pretty much I sit down at this table and just kind of share with you conversations that God and I have been having, and I just kind of let you in on it, you know. I've been talking about the God of Plenty, and you know, it's, it's been an exciting opportunity to share. I think this is part 6 we're going to share today. Yeah, part 6. And, uh, I missed because we, over the holiday, we, we took a little, uh, hiatus, and, uh, we kind of took a little break and got away. But at the end of the day, I'm glad to be back. I'm glad to share with you. And so I'm not going to prolong the time. I'm gonna jump right into this. We're going to pray and we're gonna get right into word today. Listen, don't scroll. Do me a favor, share this. I mean, this word is so significant. I've been talking about this thing concerning the plenteous God we serve and how really all of us are already filled with plenty and how he wants to share what he has with us. And in times like these, we need to be clear and know that we have access to the resources of heaven. Let's pray. Father, in Jesus' name, I thank you today for another opportunity to speak and to share your word. I decree and declare, God, that every person under the sound of my voice, God, that their life will be impacted and changed and deliverance will come. I give you praise and glory for what you're about to do. Thank you, God, for being the God of plenty. Father, today may we experience the light, the illumination, and the intelligence of the Holy Ghost. Hide Michael Woods behind the cross and allow no flesh to be seen. Thank you for your grace. Thank you, Father, for your mercy. Thank you for your your favor, and we give you praise today in Jesus' name. Amen. And thanks be to God. Glory to God. All right, so again, we're talking about the God of Plenty, and today, praise God, we're actually going to go into part 6. I challenge you to go back and watch parts 1 through 5 so you can get a clear idea of the foundation of what we're sharing. Glory to God. Because it's so important. I mean, it's— and most of time in a very religious way, church has failed people by not really sharing with them what they have access to. So our God— this is a personality trait of God— he is indeed the God of plenty. So today, part 6, I want to talk about El Shaddai. I didn't say El Shaddai, I said El Shaddai or El Shaddai. The God Almighty. He's the God who is more than enough. I tell you, if you believe God lives on the inside of you, and if you don't, by the time I'm done, I'm going to help you get him on the inside. Just touch your belly and say, oh my God, say God is more than enough. Glory to God. I want you to get that in your spirit. Come on, say it one more time. God is more than enough. He's El Shaddai, the God. I didn't say Shaddai, I said Shaddai, the God that's more than enough. He's more than enough for us, guys. Hallelujah. He has exactly what we need. Praise the name of God. Let's look at Genesis chapter number 17, and we're going to read out of the word of the Lord. I'm going to read, praise God. Actually, I'm gonna read off my screen. I'm gonna read Genesis 17 from the New Living Translation, praise God. And I'm gonna read verses 1 and 2, all right? The Bible says, when Abram was 99 years old, hear this, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am, hear this, El Shaddai, God Almighty, serve me faithfully. Wow. And live, watch this, a blameless life. And he says, I will make a covenant with you by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants. God said, listen, if you serve me faithfully, loyally, and live a blameless life, He says, watch this, I'm going to give you legacy. I'm going to give you countless descendants and legacy. Oh my God. That after you're gone, there will be great memory of you because God filled your life with so much through his almighty power. Oh my God. I need you to grab this today, guys. Grab it. Grab it, please. Because I need you to be clear that God is so powerful that if you respond to the covenant in the right way, that he will overtake everything in your life that seemingly— are you hearing me? That seemingly, glory to the name of God, is not working. Every financial piece, he'll take control. Glory to God. Every relational piece, he'll take control. And you just got to make up in your mind you're going to be faithful to God and be blameless. So it's one thing to be transformed, but it's another thing to live a faithful life after you've been transformed. It takes discipline. So you can become a new, new creature in Christ Jesus and be changed. But if you don't make the choice to live for God You're going to forfeit a lot of blessings that wants to manifest in your life. Are you hearing me? Are you hearing me? Glory to God. So it's funny to me that in the text he would say, serve me. It's interesting that he said to do that first. That word serve in Hebrew means to become a bond slave. He said, become my slave. And I know many people don't like that word, but in this connotation, being a slave toward El Shaddai, being a bond slave, a bond servant who does exactly what God asks you. Listen, obedience is better than sacrifice. See, it takes discipline again to submit yourself to a master. See, most people can't hear God enough to ask him a question that he'll give them a direct answer. I had a situation just this week. Let me tell you something that was very dear to me. I really wanted to travel and be involved in this situation. And share, do whatever the Lord was going to have me to do while I was there and be of support. Glory to the name of God, to someone I love very dearly in something that God had placed on his heart to do. So at the end of the day, I was in a pickle, man, because I'm like, God, I want to go to be of a support. And as I began to pray, the Lord clearly said to me, he said, "Son, no." And he began to remind me of some things. He had nothing to do with this situation or this place I was going to, but it just had something to do overall with some instructions God had given me. In terms of how to relate to different situations in my life. And he said, this is not what I need you to do right now. You need to be still. So no. So it broke my heart to have to send a message to him and say, hey, I'm not coming. And I had no other excuse but God said no. But when you're disciplined enough You know the voice of God. When you're sold out to God, you listen to God. Now I'm gonna pray for them, I'm going to still support, but at the end of the day, I could not physically go because God said no, that service, I'm his slave. Now I could have chosen to disregard, y'all not hearing me now, what God said and got in my car and went there this weekend and been present and did everything that I was supposed to do while I was there, or what I wanted to do. But you know what? It wouldn't have been effective because God's validation would not have been on it because I would have been moving in sheer disobedience. But a servant always obeys what God says. Are y'all hearing me? A servant always obeys what God says. I need y'all to grab that. If you get nothing else out of today's program, if you want to receive the manifestation of El Shaddai, you must first choose a path, a road of obedience. Listen, we don't have a promise in the Bible for disobedience. There's no promise in the Holy Scripture that responds to disobedience in terms of the blessing of God. Now there's some— glory to the name of God— promises for disobedience in the Scripture that have nothing to do with the promises of God manifesting in your life on earth. But there are some promises in the afterlife that if you live disobedient, what's going to happen? Now, we ain't gonna get into that today, but in the end of the day, we need to make up in our mind we're gonna serve him and we're gonna be obedient to what he says. All right, so let's look closely at the meaning of El Shaddai. So the Hebrew El means God's power and might. So anytime you see El, it is transliterated from the Hebrew as God of power and might, or God's power and might. Hallelujah. Shaddai in Hebrew actually has multiple connotations or multiple meanings, multiple names. One is God on the holy mountain. Yeah. So El Shaddai means, watch this, that God is His power and might manifest in the holy mountain. Now, if you're not deliberate enough in prayer and in fostering your relationship with the Lord, you'll never get an opportunity to experience God on the holy mountain. The God— the holy mountain is the place— is where God sets up his throne of rulership. It's a place where God abides. And God literally has given us access through parsonage of Jesus. Access in Greek is parsonage, where Jesus ripped the veil of the temple and we can now boldly come to the throne of grace to find grace and mercy and help in the time of need. He ripped the veil open. Now we have parsonage access where we can dwell in the holy mountain where God is. We— wow. So if that's the case, there are a lot of believers who are living beneath their privilege because they don't spend enough time in prayer, number one, and they don't foster deliberately their relationship with God. Let me tell you something, there are a lot of believers that don't even know God. And then, and God, you better not start talking about going to the holy mountain or tapping into a dimension of the spirit of God's glory. Hallelujah! Oh, shabandikiska talaboshe, that most individuals will never tap into. They religiously go to church. Let me tell you something about that. You know, most, most people who are spiritual, they throw the word religion around and not, not really understanding that if they're not careful, they can become very religious in the way they do things as well. A spiritual person is always open to the activity of the spirit and how the spirit leads and influences. They follow. Oh my God. So God El Shaddai is the God of the Holy Mountain. Secondly, Shaddai means that he's the God of the Wilderness. So when you go through wilderness experience in life, you got to realize that you got God's power and might that's in wilderness with you. And let's— let me tell you something, if you're going to carry any weight of the anointing at all, you're going to have wilderness experiences where you have to learn how to break through, pray, fast, worship, keep living for God in wilderness situations, and you will have no choice but to lean on the God Almighty to get through your wilderness experiences. Oh God, I gotta get out of here, y'all. Watch this. Shaddai also means he's the God, the destroyer of enemies. I want to tell you something: stop trying to fight everybody that comes at you. Stop responding to everything you see that you know was an attack toward you. Listen, sometimes you got to just reserve yourself and sit back and remember the Bible said in Exodus 14:14 that the Lord will fight for you, and you gotta let God fight on your behalf. Are you hearing me? Sometimes you just gotta sit back and let the Lord fight. Are y'all hearing what I'm saying? You got to sit back and let God fight. He's a God that destroys your enemies. You may get in a fight with somebody and going back and forth arguing and trying to prove your point or whatever, and you may win in the physical realm the battle, but if you got an enemy, you might want to put him in God's hand and let God just destroy them. No, destruction means ain't no coming back, it's over. So El Shaddai also means he's the God that destroys enemies. He's the God, the destroyer of enemies. It also means he's the God Almighty. There's none mightier than him. And it also means he is the sovereign God. Shaddai also means that he's God the all the sufficient one. Woo! Or it can be translated also that he's God, the nurturer of babies. And finally, he's the God, El Shaddai, that's more than enough. So El, God's power and might, causes him to be all sufficient. I need you to realize this today, and I'm getting ready to close. All sufficiency comes from God. Period. He's the all-sufficient one. Guess what? He's got everything, and it's best to be in a relationship with him if you need something. Listen, he's more than enough. He's the breasted one. He's the nurturer of babies. He has exactly what you need to survive and live in overflow. He's plenteous. Hallelujah. He's all sufficient. Listen, he called Abraham— watch this— from Abram to Abraham to indicate, one, that Abraham would now become the father of many nations, but he would not become that by himself, but that God would give him the sufficiency And that God was mighty enough to supply all of Abraham's needs. I want to tell you something, God's got your back. And if God gives you a future and a destiny, which all of us have, you better believe that he's God enough to take care of it. He has no respect of person. If he did, oh my God, God. Oh, shabati! That for Abraham, he'll do it for you. Listen, Abraham thought he was too old to have a child, and God looked at him and said, I know you think you're too old to have a child, and Sarah, I know you laughing, but I'm El Shaddai. I'm all sufficient. I'm the God that's more than enough. I'm gonna stop right there, because I need somebody to grab the fact today that God has everything you need. Stop sleeping on God. He has every single thing you need and more. Father, in Jesus' name, thank you for your word today. I pray that this word will land on the good ground of every heart, of every person that received it. I pray they'll reap it in due season if they faint not. I declare right now, you're plenteous over their destiny, their dreams, their ideas, and everything they need. You're bringing it to pass for them right now. I declare their worst days are over, and these are the best days of their life because they choose now to serve the sufficient God. And I praise you for it. I thank you for a servant's mentality. Release a mindset to be a slave unto you, and whatever you ask of us, God, we will do it. In Jesus' name, amen and thank God. Well, praise God and thank each of you for listening. I feel God and I know God is with us today. Listen, as you depart from this live stream today, do me the favor and share this. Share it on your timeline, share it through Messenger, however you do social media. Take this video and be a blessing to someone else. I've been saying it and I'll say it again, it's not a blessing until you actually give it away. The scripture says we are blessed to be a blessing. It only becomes a valid blessing until you can give and and share it with someone else. Thank you guys for joining us. Listen, you're welcome every day at the Apostle's Table. I love you. God bless you. Peace.
