No Time For Exercise? - Dr Singh, MD

Dr. Singh argues that if you want to live to 130 instead of dying at 80, exercise is non-negotiable. Start resistance training and cardio in your 20s and 30s. Waiting until problems show up is like spotting the Titanic's iceberg too late.

Hey guys, this is Dr. Singh. How many of you exercise on a regular basis, right? I mean, I ask this question to all my patients and many of them say, we don't have time, doc. I mean, we want to, but we just don't have time. You guys are so busy. Um, I'm gonna actually, um, like, um, put out like two outcomes in front of you guys, right? What can happen? So there's one outcome. Let's take a look at how much is the average lifespan, right? So the average lifespan is around like 70 to 80 right? And then typically, you know, we live good until 50 or 60. That's our like a good prime, and then we kind of spiral down after that. And then like the last couple of decades, you know, like the chronic conditions, the bedbound, you know, that is not really like a good healthy lifespan, right? And the other outcome is, you know, which we believe in functional medicine, if you do things properly, the way future of functional medicine is evolving with all the hormones, the peptides, all the anti-aging longevity protocols. We know so much now. So we believe that the humans should be able to live like 130 years and, you know, in a healthy manner, like a healthy lifespan, right? Isn't that interesting? Now, when it comes to the exercise, exercise is such a low-hanging fruit we all should grab. Right, what you do now when you're 20 or 30, it's gonna help you when you are like 40, 50, I mean even later, right? So don't waste that opportunity. Exercise as of today, both resistance training and your cardio, both are super important. Okay, so you know why Titanic sank? Titanic sank because they saw the iceberg, they definitely saw the iceberg, but they saw the iceberg little late, right? If they had seen the iceberg like little while before, they could have prevented that. So similarly, all those things— we know we're gonna age, everything is gonna slow down. So the exercise is our, you know, the tool we cannot, cannot waste. So start exercising today, guys. Don't waste it. All right, we'll see you later.
