Dr. Nneka Unachukwu walks physician entrepreneurs through delegation. She found 27 tasks to offload across two projects and explains the math: not delegating costs you your hourly rate in lost opportunity. Start with an inventory of what to hand off, then iterate.

If your business isn't working the way you expected, it's not because you're bad at business. It's because no one ever taught you how it actually works. We were trained to master algorithms in medicine, but when it comes to revenue teams and growth, we were never taught anything. We weren't even told to figure it out. We just assumed somehow we'd know. Like it would magically make sense. But it doesn't. The era of the seven Figure Physician CEO is here. And it's not about working harder. It's about learning entrepreneurship as a system. The same way you mastered ACLs and pals, you can master the algorithm of building a profitable scalable business. That's why I recorded the Seven Figure Physician CEO audiobook. Whether you're building a medical or non medical business, and whether your goal is your first million, first 2 million, first 5 million, first 10 million. This is where the journey starts. There is no calvary coming to save us. We are the calvary. So. So go get your audiobook now. Www.entremd.com 7Figurebook. And let's rewrite the narrative for physicians starting today.
Well, hello, hello. Welcome to the five minute tweak where I share one success habit. You can start practicing today. That would change your life as a physician entrepreneur. And today we are gonna talk about practicing delegation. Okay, So I don't know about you, but delegation has never really been a strong suit for me because I learn quickly and there are a lot of things I can do. And sometimes I'm like, the time it will take me to teach somebody how to do something and give them feedback, I would have done it five times over. And I know if I was talking to you at a coffee shop, your head will probably be nodding like, yeah, Dr. Una, I totally feel you and I have the same issue. So let's talk about this. Okay. First of all, I just want to point out that not delegating is super expensive. Okay? I want you to think about yourself as a physician. Think about your hourly rate. And then I want you to think about you as the CEO of your company and your hourly rate. So most of the time, you are the most expensive person on your payroll. Right? Most expensive person. And if you, you think about it, you would not pay you to do a lot of the tasks that you do. Right? Because you're like, I would never. Like, if you're 350 an hour, let's say your hourly rate is $350 an hour and it took you an hour to make a flyer, you guys Know, I always talk about this Canva flyer, right? It took you an hour. The question is, would you pay somebody $350 to do a flyer on Canva? The answer is absolutely not. Like. Like, what are they putting on it? Gold. Right? But the thing is, every time you refuse to delegate, that's what you're doing now. That's at that level. At the same time, let's say you run a private practice, and all the administrative stuff, all the management stuff, you do all of that because you're like, man, I don't know, I can play an office manager that much. I don't know if I can afford it and all that stuff. And I'm not saying you don't look at what you can afford, but at the same time, the question is, will you pay a physi. Will you pay an office manager the same salary as a physician, as the lead physician with as many years of experience as you have? And if the answer is no, then think about how expensive. Think about how much your practice is paying for you to do that work. So whether you're a startup or you're doing multiple seven figures, delegation is expensive, okay? So we're not going to go into all the aspects of delegation, but one of the things I get a lot is, well, I don't know what to delegate, right? Or somebody does hire someone. They're like, okay, I've hired them, but I don't know what to do with them. I don't know what to tell them to do. And so I want to walk you through a very simple exercise. So I remember this was, you know, about a year ago. I was thinking about how I was becoming stressed out. I was like, I have all these things on my plate and it doesn't make sense and all of that. And I sat down, I said. And I was like, you know, I have a VA. I don't know what to put on my VA's plate and all of that stuff. And I sat down and I said, you know what? Why don't I write out everything I do? So I picked the entremd podcast and I picked the ontram D Business school. I was like, I'm gonna write out every single thing I do for these two things. I came up with 27 things, 27 things, 27 things that I did. And the 27, funny enough, was not everything. It was the things I did in these two areas that could be the delegated. I came up with 14 tasks for the podcast and 13 tasks for the Entrepreneur Business School that would Be totally fine if I never touched it again, right? 27. But what that did, though, was then that gave me something to go like, okay, these are the 27 things I'm getting off my plate. Now, if you do this and come up with 27, and you're like, I have no idea how to do this.
You can start by getting 5 off, 10 off.
Like, start from somewhere, start from anywhere. But the bottom line is it's time to go take inventory of the things that are on your plate that don't need to be there. You may say, doctor, I've heard you talk about delegation before, and I did it then. But guess what? You've evolved. Your business has evolved, your needs have evolved. So many things have changed. So this is an exercise worth doing again, and I want you to do it, and I want you to analyze what are the things that should be off my plate. Then you go find somebody and you get them off your plate. So take an inventory. Practice delegation. It is a muscle. The more you do it, the better you get at it. The more you do it, the more time you free up, the more you create space for you to serve more and earn more and all the great things we want to do in business. So go do that and let me know how it goes. Okay, so. Well, there you have it.
Now remember, you are part of the ontramd movement, the movement that disrupts the healthcare space.
So do not keep this to yourself. Share it, and I will see you on the next episode of the entremd podcast.
