How I Built a Panel of 4000 Patients in 18 Months with Dr. Tolu Olabintan
30 Jan 2026 · 26 min
Dr. Tolu Olabintan built a family medicine practice in Mansfield, Texas from zero to 3,895 patients in 18 months. She credits mindset work, peer support, and coaching for the growth, and says the key was starting despite fear and ruthlessly prioritizing what actually moves the needle.

If your business isn't working the way you expected, it's not because you're bad at business. It's because no one ever taught you how it actually works. We were trained to master algorithms in medicine, but when it comes to revenue teams and growth, we were never taught anything. We weren't even told to figure it out. We just assumed somehow we'd know. Like it would magically make sense. But it doesn't. The era of the Seven Figure Physician CEO is here. And it's not about working harder. It's about learning entrepreneurship as a system. The same way you mastered ACLs and pals, you can master the algorithm of building a profitable scalable business. That's why I recorded the Seven Figure Physician CEO audiobook. Whether you're building a medical or non medical business, and whether your goal is your first million, first 2 million, first 5 million, first 10 million, this is where the journey starts. There is no calvary coming to save us. We are the Calvary.
So.
So go get your audiobook now. Www.entremd.com 7Figurebook. And let's rewrite the narrative for physicians starting today. Well, hello. Hello, my friend. Welcome back to another episode of the Entre MD Podcast. And you are in for a treat. Now, I know I say that, but I really mean it. Right? And I have Dr. Tolu Olabintan here, and she is one of the amazing students from the Entre MD Business School. She's a family medicine doc in Mansfield, Texas. So if you're around there, you have now found your doctor. If you're looking for a referral source, you know, someone to refer to, you have now found her. Okay, but she was here, you know, little about a year ago, I want to say. And at that point, she had had her practice for six weeks, and she was fully booked in six weeks. She came to share her story. It was just phenomenal. And, and now it's just like so much has happened. It's, you know, perfect time for an update. So here we are. Okay, so, Dr. Tolu, some people, you know, they're new to the podcast. They've never met you before. Can you take a moment and introduce yourself?
All right, I'm Dr. Tolu Olubent, and thank you so much for having me back. This is fun. Always. And I'm A Family Physician CEO, LivingSpring Family Medical center here in Mansfield, Texas. I'm also a student of the Entry MD Business School and a student of the Entry MD Skill Group. I joined NT in November 2020. I had watched some People talk about their stories and how Entry MD had changed their lives. And I could see some of my friends doing the things that I didn't. They told me they wouldn't do. And so I was like, man, my interest was piqued. I want to see what they're doing and who they're watching. And it was Dr. Unan, the entry MD. And so I'm here, still a student, a product of multiple mindset shifts. One that also tells me that I never stop learning. So that's why I'm still in the school.
I never stopped learning. That's a great intro. Yeah, you did great. Never stop learning. And I just want to. I want to stop because that is just one line, but it's so loaded, and it's something that if we can learn, it makes a huge difference. Right? So on. Attack that a little more. Right. So here you are, you know, you're. You're a doctor, a family medicine doctor. You were thriving at your job. You went on, you started a practice. You're thriving as a practice owner. You know, you have your family, you're working at Angus, working well, all of that. And if anybody had a right to say, I'm done. I'm done learning. Nobody can teach me anything. Like, you're in that. You fall in that category. Right. And so what has put you in a place where you continue to learn? Like, it's so up there that it's part of your introduction. Like, how come?
It's. It's the drive to keep reaching for the dream that God has put in my heart. And, you know, it's a dream. I mean, open the practice was something I knew I should do, but I just thought it was something that you kind of aspired to do as a good thing to think about. But if you never did it, at least you were in medicine.
Right?
But I joined school. Luckily, before then I learned doing things afraid. And I'm here now. So, like, who else am I to become is the question. And I've seen myself develop as a person through starting a practice. I've seen myself being a better steward of my time, my finances, my resources. I see myself also being more of a blessing to people and also being blessed in return. So my. My life is richer. So it's like, who else is. Like, who else is in me to become is the question, because I've seen the results. Now, I'm not gonna sit here and tell you it hasn't been challenging. It's had its challenges, but it stretched me and brought out better Attributes. So I'm not sure. I'm not here to gas myself. It's just like, wow. I'm just excited, like, the next phase of my journey. Like, what is the next dream? What is the next thing to be? Because it's in becoming who I'm supposed to be. I, I, I maximize my potential. And you talk about that a lot in class, Dr. Una, another podcast. So I am, I am following your example too, you know, So I don't want to downplay that. So that's, that's why. And it, it gives me a reason to get up in the morning and like, yay, I'm leaving my purpose. Like, yay, yay me.
I just love talking to you. If you listen to the podcast, I want you to imagine she's just so giddy with excitement. This is amazing. So it sounds like this is something you're right. I talk a lot about. And there's a statement I make that the most rewarding thing from embracing entrepreneurship is not really the impact you'll have in the world or the money you'll make. The most rewarding thing will become the person you, you become in the process. And it's like you've experienced that and you're like, well, I just want to become more of me. Like, does that, Is that kind of way? It sounds that way.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. And it's. In becoming more of me, I'm actually helping people to become more of them. And that's not just a cliche. Like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm helping you prioritize your health so that you're better there to serve as your, as a wife, as a mother, as a teacher. And so it's like a ripple effect that outlives me. So here. Like, that's so cool.
So cool. And that's the way we live forever, right? Because our impact outlives us is. Okay, so this got, this got real good real quick, right? So someone is listening. Someone's like, oh, my goodness. I listen. I just listened to her episode where she talked about being fully booked in six weeks and all of that stuff. And, and so, so where are you now? Give us a little bit of an update. What does your practice look like? And, and I know you, so I know this is going to be hard to pull off because so much has happened since then, but bring us up to speed.
So we're at almost 4,000 patients now. I think the last one is 3,895. That's the last number I have a nurse practitioner working for me. We've outgrown our space. We've outgrown our space. So I have patients sometimes waiting in their cars because there's no seat. So it's. Yeah, I need help. So if there are any doctors who share the passion we have here who want to come join, that'd be awesome. And it's so interesting. I've been able to read more in the past year. I know that's not part of the practice, but I've been able to read more and my personal development is better. I am a better mom. I actually have more time with my kids because I'm more present when I'm with them. So that's a plus. We've surpassed our expected revenue goals by a landslide. Yeah, by a landslide. And I'm also getting paid. I'm going to give my staff bonuses now. We had a end of the year team building session that was phenomenal. And just to see my team express their appreciation for the impact I've had in their life, because I am following the example. It's like books they read as a team and their goals. We all have vision boards now and we have them for the clinic. It's so cool. It's just different surface, different layers of the impact. So, yes, almost a year and a half now. Yeah, the practice is doing very well, thriving, and we are a household name here in mansfield. So, yeah, Dr. Oh, man.
Okay, so we're a household name. We surpassed our revenue goals by a landslide. I'm becoming the best version of myself. I am a better mom. I have more time to spend, like, all of this. It's unbelievable. Unbelievable. Okay, so someone. Someone is listening and is going, like, how? Right? Because first of all, you started your practice during the pandemic, okay? During the COVID 19 pandemic, which, you know, word on the street is that's not the smartest thing to do. Okay, but you did it, right? And you, you haven't even been there. You're barely a year and a half into this, are creating all this stuff, right? And so someone is listening is like, how. Right? And of course, how would be, you know, a three day lecture. But what pointers could you give someone who is thinking, like, I mean, like, I'm here thinking, private practice is dead. I'm thinking, I cannot start a private practice. Like, how did you get here?
Okay, if you heard me on other podcasts or even the previous episodes with you, I always talk about mindset. Mindset is big. And one of the things that the entry MB business school has helped me is to hone in on mindsets that actually serve me and discard the ones that don't. And so the mindset work is very, very important. So surrounding yourself with people, things, resources that help empower you mentally is key. Number two, peer pressure. Positive peer pressure. We had the EVS success group right there with Dr. Bedford, and she's having those doing assignments, an assignment that I've been kind of putting on my table and like, do it. And I've been dreading I finished because other people were with me doing the same thing. Get you some positive peer pressure. That's what EBS the group has done for me because I have other people who are quote, unquote crazy like me, who are quote unquote, thinking outside the box and doing what is quote unquote impossible. And so I'm empowered and encouraged. So I don't go asking for feedback outside those groups. I don't. Those kind of people. I don't. Because it's just, it's. It's. It's stressful, so I don't. And then do it afraid. Do it afraid. Have systems around you. Put yourself in places that makes you a little uncomfortable. So you're able to make that shift because it's possible. Trust me, if you knew me seven years ago, ten years ago. No, I have classmates who are like, you have a practice. Don't get me wrong, I'm not stupid or naughty, but I'm not business. No, that was not my thing. It was just to go to work. But it's amazing what can happen when you surround yourself with the right people and with the right mindsets. So get uncomfortable. That's okay. It's outside your comfort zone, but that's where you thrive and that's where you actually live out your purpose. So I think, I think that's. That about some summarizes it.
I'll take it. I'll take it. And. And guys, you should have seen her, right? Like, once I asked that question, she was like, let me pull out this paper right now. I like, I saw you do that. Like, 1, 2, 3.
I was like, this is big because my mind is just like, oh, this is exciting. You know, it's a lot to pour out and to share is there's so many things that have come out in the last two years that the time doesn't do us justice. Dr. Una.
Yeah, I love it. I love it. Okay, so now you talked about challenges. Like, hey, this is not with. Without its challenges. And one of the things I love about the entre business school is we don't deny the challenges. Well, we've made a quality decision that we're moving forward and we're going to get this stuff done right. And so talk to us about, you know, some of the challenges you've experienced on this journey and what you did to overcome them.
Is it the beginning where you know, even the loan was a struggle and thinking, oh, my dream was not possible because the bank said no, that was a challenge. Staffing, I mean it was the year of what the great recognition, like finding staff was hard. But you know, with asking questions in the group, asking questions, you know, from you as well were able to find, okay, let's, this was how it was done. Let's try this. And it worked. There you go. Is it, is it having hired bad staff and feeling bad that you did that because you're questioning your own sense of decision making? That was stressful, but it was a challenge. But we made it through. And there's two challenges now. Even we're still having help with staffing. The mindset, work, you know, the grit of being an entrepreneur and dealing with a day to day and you know, prioritizing, you know, but those things are doable. For instance, it was in the last two months I finally clicked in my brain that I cannot have time for everything. It was so liberating. Like, oh my God. So I'm not crazy. I can't have time for everything. So I'm going to learn to prioritize. And that's not just a thing you say just to sound smart. You literally sit down. This is a one, a two, a three, b one, b two, in that order. I will not do it out of step. And it's so, it's so good because there's always something to do. So and there are days where earlier on I remember like thinking, what the heck was I thinking doing this? And then I remembered some of the things that made me leave my practice, the previous one I used to work with and the desire to fulfill what I know I was born to do. And so that took care of that. So I don't go there anymore. But I had the support system. And I remember you were in class, I said it, I thought about going back and I talked about the challenges and I was talked through it and help through it. So challenges will come. But that's life. That's life.
As she's saying that with a smile. Challenges will come. That's life.
I love it.
I love it. And so the Deal is that the challenges can be there and we can still do what we're supposed to do and we can still accomplish what we need to accomplish. And you know, if people could see us like behind the scenes in the business school, we all have challenges. Challenges, right. But we all have wins and we acknowledge them all, you know, and just decide we're gonna, we're gonna make this work. There is something I want to ask you about because you're one of the people who's always talked about this and I have no idea what your answer is going to be, but I'm looking forward to this. You've always talked about realizing that you can invest in yourself, you should invest in yourself and you're worth it. I remember that from the very first time we spoke, right? And you're like, because you were like, what? That's how much it is for the business school. What? And then you, you came to this realization like, I need to invest in myself. Now that's been for a minute, right? That's two years at this, at this point, yes. But not only do you continue to invest in yourself, but you continue to up level how you invest in yourself. Right? And so to put this in context for the listener, you know, we have the entre business school and then we have another tier that is called scale. And this is for people who, you know, are ready to cross the million dollar mark or they've crossed and they want to go to multiples, multiple seven and stuff like that. And that opportunity came your way and you were like, boom, I'm doing it right. And it was, it was a completely different investment, all those kind of things. So what is, what is the rationale behind for you investing in yourself? Continue to invest in yourself, up leveling your investment in yourself? Like, tell me a thought process around that.
You know, I said that before. I'm so thankful that the mindset shift that I'm worth the investment. And the most, the most important thing to invest in is myself. Not necessarily material positions, possessions, but invest in the quality of you. So I, luckily I'd gotten that before I got introduced to you. And I was like, man, this is a no brainer. I want to see what they're doing. And they joined. Now when the opportunity for scale came, it was the same mindset I had sitting in and say, you know what? I've seen what I have done. When mindset shifts happen over a year and a half, can you imagine when there's more pressure, more positive peer pressure, where I'm sitting, where I'M comfortable because I'm learning to keep pushing myself and sitting in tables where I'm not very comfortable. That's how I'll grow. And I'll be honest. I do like math. So I divided it by 12, as I do with my patients, when I say, you need to invest in this fruit or vegetable or snack that's healthy every day I say, just divide it by 30 days and it's $6 a day, you'll be fine. So I divided the cost by 12 and I said, you know what? This is doable and no regrets. No regrets. You know, as I grow, things around me grow and I am getting my return on investment. So there you go. You got to put money down and make money. That's another principle I had to learn early. I try to save too much. There's some things you got to pay for.
Yes, that's amazing. I love hearing you talk about that because I think the exact same way. I actively look for rooms where I'm going to be uncomfortable, like where I have to coach myself. I remind myself of who I am to not get intimidated. I put myself in those kind of rooms and I also try to create those kind of rooms because that's where all the magic happens. You know what I mean? That's where, where all of that happens. So that's, that's truly amazing. When you think about, you know, the year we're in, 2023, we just started, what's your outlook? Like, what are you thinking would happen in your business, in your life? You know, you as an individual, you the entrepreneur.
Wow, that's a loaded question. You know, I see us duplicating, duplicating. And I remember being okay with just the one practice and just staying small. And that's. But level of impact has no. There's no limit. There's no ceiling. Like, it's. You keep going until you stop. So I'm, I'm excited as, as to who I'll become in six months based on exposure, based on books read, and based on experience too. And I am hoping to duplicate Living Spring so that the culture of care sincerely can be dispersed everywhere. So, yeah, that's, that's, that's the summary. Yeah.
I love it. I love it. Now there's somebody listening or two people, actually. One is, you know, wow, like, you know, I've always wanted to start a practice, but I'm like a one trick pony and I, I don't think I can do that. And there's someone else who has, you know, built a Practice and got it to some level of profitability and kind of plateaued and settled there. Like I, I'm not the kind of person who could take it any further. Like I've arrived, right? Even though secretly the person wants to, but they just don't feel they can. What would you say to those people?
Well, the person who already has a practice and you're okay, if that nudge in your heart to do more is not there, that's okay, that's fine. But see, there was something like, there was like a little, you know, like a chest thing, like ah, something more. And, and, and so if that's not there for you, that's fine. Now for the one who's thinking, I, I, I don't think it's for me, I don't think it's something I can do. You can become the person who can do that, but you don't have to become that person to start. That's, that's the beauty of this journey of it. You don't have to become that person in starting. You become that person. And this is no foo foo woo woo talk. I'm a testimony to that. I am becoming now, you know, and, and even, even where I'm at with the successes I, I still have, you know, the mind drama and the, you know, my goodness, oh my God, I can't, like I have to pinch myself where I go back and write in my gratitude journal, like, wow, okay, wow, we did this. This, this is real. You know, it is possible. You just got to surround yourself with the right surround sounds, the right people who would nurture that desire in your heart. It starts with you. So if that's something you thought of and that's something you know, but you're like, I don't think you try to push it down, allow that to, to develop, allow those, those, those nudges to kind of take their natural course and, and, and come join us. I'm telling you, you find a lot of us here waiting for you who could tell you stories. You laugh with some of our stories and you see the realness in the challenges and the struggle. But how far we've come, even with that, even in spite of that, I hope I've made sense because I said a lot of words, hope that made sense.
Yeah, yeah, you made a whole lot of sense. I, this I had to write down, right? Like you can become the person, right, who owns that kind of practice you're dreaming of or kind of business you're dreaming of. You know, principles apply, but you don't have to become that person to start. That is such a powerful, powerful statements, right? Because it means, yes, it's within the realm of possibility. But you can start now. You don't have to wait. Like, you can start right now. Oh, my goodness, that is so good. Okay, where can people find you? Because they're like, wait a minute, I heard Dr. Una say, like, if you're looking for a doctor in Mansfield, Texas, this is she. Where can people find you? So this could be people who would refer to you, people who, you know, end up being your patients. People who you know would know, know people who would work with you. Like, where do they find you?

If you run a business of any kind, which you know or you plan to, so everybody who listens to this podcast, I want you to actually go and follow her. Follow her on Facebook. One is that you'll get a lot of, you know, you get a lot of health facts and all those kind of things, but you get to watch an entrepreneur use social media as a tool, right? And when I say a tool, I mean in a win win type of situation, right? Where it's working for the audience in the sense that they get a lot of benefit from it and a lot of entertainment. You've heard her, right? Like, so it's very entertaining. Like, right? And on the same, on the other side, it creates a lot of wins for her. So it's almost like a little master class on how to use social media. So as I want you to go follow her, like, really? Okay, so that's where people can find you. So I'm going to let you give us last words. Someone's listening to the podcast. Sounds got a lot out of this. What final words do you have for the listener?
A lot of times people say, just start. I'll add a little tagline to that. Just start. But surround yourself with the right people, the right resources, and then start.
Yeah, man, you're just dropping gems. So good. All right, so surround yourself with the right people and the right resources, then just start. So good. Okay. All right. You guys heard her. This is one of those episodes where you're like, that was so good. And just start over. Okay? It's one of those episodes and just get all the juice and all the nuggets out of it. But I love interviewing doctors like Dr. Olenson because this is a real deal. This is a real journey. This is not a highlight reel. This is not made up. This is. This is it, you know? And thank you so much for taking us behind the scenes and not really holding anything back. So, Dr. Lenton, thank you so much for coming on the show. This was a treat. So good.
