If your business isn't working the way you expected, it's not because you're bad at business. It's because no one ever taught you how it actually works. We were trained to master algorithms in medicine, but when it comes to revenue teams and growth, we were never taught anything. We weren't even told to figure it out. We just assumed somehow we'd know. Like it would magically make sense. But it doesn't. The era of the seven Figure Physician CEO is here. And it's not about working harder. It's about learning entrepreneurship as a system. The same way you mastered ACLs and pals, you can master the algorithm of building a profitable scalable business. That's why I recorded the Seven Figure Physician CEO audiobook. Whether you're building a medical or non medical business, and whether your goal is your first million, first 2 million, first 5 million, first 10 million, this is where the journey starts. There is no calvary coming to save us. We are the Calvary. So. So go get your audiobook now. Www.entremd.com 7Figurebook. And let's rewrite the narrative for physicians starting today. Hi, docs. Welcome to the Entre MD Podcast, where it's all about helping amazing physicians just like you, embrace entrepreneurship so you can have the freedom to live life and practice medicine on your terms. I'm your host, Dr. Umna. Well, hello. Hello. Welcome back to another episode of the entremd podcast. As always, super pumped to be in your ears. Thank you so much for being a listener and for reviewing and for sharing. And if you have not reviewed or shared, this will be a nice time to do it. And you can take the. Thank you. But, you know, I've been working a lot on myself and my process and how I can help myself achieve even bigger goals and bigger outcomes in my life. Because you've heard me talk about, you know, my 90th birthday party that I attend a lot, and I really want to become that person who at the end of my life, I'm like, I did it all. I did what I wanted to do, and I'm fine leaving now. You know, like, that's. That's kind of the way I think about that. And so one of the things that's come up a lot for me is the concept of, you know, our minds and how our minds can stop us and things like that. And so I really did call this episode, you know, how to defeat the enemy within. And that really is the real enemy. And it's not our minds per se. Right. Our minds are our brilliant, you know, supercomputers that, you know, we're gifted with. But the thing is, if we don't discipline it, right, it can work against us, right? So think about it as your mind being something that's really powerful, but it's neutral, right? It's kind of like a computer, right? It's really powerful, but you can put a really great program on it, or you could put a computer virus on it, right? You see what I'm saying? Like, our minds are like that. So I think one of the greatest enemies we have is, is the undisciplined mind, right? Like, we just let it think what it wants to think, you know, imagine what it wants to imagine and all of that. And it's one of the most detrimental things, you know, to, To. To have in your life as a. As an entrepreneur. And so that's what I want to talk to you about today is the undisciplined mind. How it. How it shows up, how you can identify it, and then how we can, you know, work against it. So our minds can be tools that this growth and create life on our terms and all those things, or it could be a weapon against us, right? And the undisciplined minds, like a weapon. It's like a enemy against us. Okay. All right. So I took the time to think about, you know, some of the ways this shows up, right? And so one of the ways it shows up, you know, is the things that convinces you to do. The undisciplined mind, right, convinces you that nothing is working. And you can be in the midst of really big breakthroughs, but you will think nothing is working. Actually, when this thought comes up, right, like you're thinking about your business, you think, especially when it comes to goal setting. So some people at the end of the year, when it's time to set new goals, they're like, yeah. And they look back on the year before, they're like, absolutely nothing is working. Or if you're like, you know, like an entrepreneur business school, we are choosing to live 90 days at a time. So we have this whole 90 day sprint thing going on. And you can look at it and look at the quarter before and you're like, oh, man, I'm putting all this effort and nothing is working, okay? When you think Nothing is working 99.9% of the time, that is not accurate. That is not true. That is the undisciplined mind, okay? That is your mind just growing weeds and acting crazy. I remember a year when, you know, it was a winner. And I was in a group of, you would know, with other pediatricians from all over the country. I live in Georgia, so, you know, we get 2 inches of snow, the whole state shuts down. But, you know, there was a snowstorm, and we got probably. I mean, we got nothing. We got nothing, right? And I had friends who are. Other parts of the country where they're. They had to close their offices. You know, it was completely closed because of the storm. Some of them had their power go out. We're talking about power going out when people have $200,000 worth of vaccines in their frid. And so they're scrambling to get generators and all of these things, making sure their vaccines are still viable and. And all of this stuff, right? And of course, there's the revenue that. The money that they had to spend to take care of all the things that had to do with the storm and the revenue that was lost because they couldn't see patients, right? This was their experience. Now, me on the other side in Georgia, you know, it was just a really cold day, right? It was really cold. We went in, and I remember walking into the office and, you know, my mind started doing all these things of, you know, all the things that are not and all of this. And I was like, isn't that fascinating that here I am, I get to come to work, I have a full schedule. I didn't have to close my office. I didn't have to wonder how I'm going to save $200,000 worth of vaccines. I didn't have to do any of that. And still the undisciplined mind is going to find 700,000 things to complain about and convince me that nothing is working, right? And so it's just that thought, like, when you sense that, when you start saying that, when you start thinking that, chances are that that has no bearing on reality. I'm just telling you now. So when you. When you sense it, you're like, wait, wait, I'm. These are weeds, right? Like, I have weeds in my mind talking, okay? And, you know, like, I can't tell you how many people this is stopped. Someone even posted this in the group. And it's like, oh, I looked at my stuff and realized that I had eight clients, but I thought I had two this whole time, right? So think about the thought around that. I'm doing all this work. I'm not getting new clients and all these things. Meanwhile, you have four times. Four times the amount of clients that you thought you had, right? And so the Undisciplined mind can be crazy. I call it a fool. Like, it's just a full, full. Right? And so when you hear that, you want to start questioning it, right? Nothing is working. I mean, you're. You're alive. You have another chance at life. If you take the time to look back and take stock, you'll find out that you have grown, things have changed. Maybe you're not exactly where you want to be, which, may. We can talk about that a different day, if it's even realistic or not. But you're making progress, right? So some things are working. Nothing is working. Is. Is the undisciplined mind is the enemy. Okay. All right. The second thing is it will convince you, and this is a really bad one. It will convince you that everyone is your problem and you're not the problem. Right? You're not. You have no. Taking this, everything. Now, this used to get me a lot, because when things start not going the way I want them to go, I immediately look around and look for people to blame so I can take the pressure off myself. Okay? So it took me a moment to figure out this was what I was doing, and I stopped it. Because you cannot be the victim and the victor at the same time. You have to pick one, right? And so if you choose to be the victim, then you take the victim mode. Like I'm, you know, I'm the sorry want. Everybody has to feel sorry for me. Nothing's working. All those kinds of things. You can't be that and be, you know, like the strong, powerful one. You got to choose one. And so the other thing it does is it strips you of all power to change anything, right? Because it's like, you know, I'm the victim. Everybody's doing this against me. Nobody's helping me. Nobody gives. Giving me the support I need and all of those kinds of things. But you, you are so capable that you can go on to create the difference you want to see, right? You can tap into all these resources that you have. So once you start thinking, oh, is that person's faul. You know, that person didn't help me. That person didn't answer my question. That person didn't give me the money I needed, my family didn't give me the support I needed and all of that, if you look around, people have had it worse than you, and they're killing it. And I'm not saying it to say that they're, you know, they're not things that hurt that people do and all of that stuff, but One of the things that will take you to the top is radical responsibility, right? Like, okay, they did it. So are we going to let our destiny just fall to the ground because somebody did something? Right? And so when you find yourself in situations, say you don't like, the question to then ask is, what can I do about this? What can I change about this? How can I make this work for my good? That's what you do. But turning around and blaming people is not going to work. It's not going to cut it. It's not going to cut it at all, okay? Especially as an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is for the way Kelly Roach says it says for business athletes, right? These are people who are Olympians. These are people who know how to put the work in to get the job done. These are the people who know how to weather storms, right? If you find yourself constantly blaming people what they did, what they didn't do, what they said, what they didn't say, that you're putting yourself in a position where, I mean, you're letting your undisciplined mind show up and it's an enemy, okay? Number three, it will convince you that everything is overwhelming, right? This is. I think this is one of the favorites of the undisciplined mind. So you have a new project in front of you, maybe something you haven't done before or you haven't done it at that capacity before, and you. It just starts playing all these scenarios of all the things that could go wrong and all the things you have to do. And when you're done with step 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, do you know you're going to have to do step six and seven? So you're overwhelmed by things that are not going to happen for another two years. You're just overwhelmed. When you find yourself going there, just realize it's the undisciplined mind trying to get the better of you, okay? He's trying to get better of you. And just stop it, okay? Now, in the. In the EBS world, in alternative Business School, we talk a lot about we don't do overwhelm, okay? And that doesn't mean we don't feel overwhelmed. It means we don't do overwhelm. And so when those thoughts come like, oh, my gosh, it's overwhelming. All the things I have to do, all the things I have to learn, blah, blah, blah, blah, you can go like, okay, well, I'm. No matter what, I'm not going to do these 700 things. What is the next critical thing for me to do. And we can own that and forget everything else and just go on and do that thing, right? Because you're always going to have more to do than you're going to have time to do. There's always going to be more new things to do that. Like, it's always going to be that way, right? And so we can refuse to live in the overwhelm. We can find out what's the next thing and do that and just keep it moving. Okay? Undisciplined mind. So when you start thinking this thing. No, nothing is working. Every. Everybody's my problem. They had the problem. No, they're not the problem. Okay, Number four. Okay, this is so bad. It will convince you of one of two things. Either everybody's better than you and you suck, or everybody sucks and you're better than everybody. Both of which are. They're just damaging, right? And so when you think, like, I'm better than everybody, everybody sucks. Nobody knows what they're doing. Nobody knows what they say. I know. Nobody knows. Nobody else knows. You can't listen to anybody. Nobody else knows, okay? That is a weed. Like, that's a mindset weed in your garden, okay, that you need to get out of because it puts you in a position. Now, if you think I'm better than everybody, everybody sucks. It puts you in a position where you lose access to one of the greatest resources in the universe, and that is people, the treasures in people, because you can no longer listen, you can no longer hear. You can no longer learn from people. You've lost your curiosity. You're just better than everybody. And so you can be in a group of some of the most brilliant people, and you'll get nothing out of it. Why? Because you just, you know everything. You know everything. You're the. You're the smartest. Nobody can tell you everything. You judge everybody. You can't learn from anybody. One of the things that I've, you know, in watching the ultra successful, you know, I'm a student of the ultra successful. One of the things I've noticed is my goodness, are they humble. I mean, you hear them ask questions and they're patiently listening, and I'm like, oh, my goodness. You make Your business did 150 million last year. This person, business person's business did a million. How? How? Right? And, and, and they ask questions and they're curious and they value relationships. So when you think, oh, I'm the best ever and these people all suck, You've. I mean, like, social wealth is more valuable than financial wealth. You Just set yourself up. And if on the flip side you feel like, well, everybody's better than me and then I suck again, you've lost access to the most valuable thing because there you are. Woe is me. You know I suck. I can never be right at everything. Everybody's thing is working, not mine. But to think so look at it this way. You can be so the entrepreneur business school is that kind of community. You can be in a community where you have all kinds of amazing physicians. We're talking startup all the way to over 7,7 million in revenue. Okay? You have people who are killing in private practice, killing it as coaches, killing in direct primary care practices, killing it in other service based business, killing it as intrapreneurs. You can have access to that whole community. Like, yes, you feel everybody's better than you and you suck, you withdraw and you have the ability to gain a world class, world class education just by watching the people around you do what they do and learning from them and pulling from them. But you won't. Why? Because they're just amazing and that's just the way life is for them. And then you suck. No, no, nobody's better than you. Nobody's worse than you. Maybe they have learned things you haven't learned yet, maybe they're doing things that you haven't done yet. But oh my goodness, you can learn from them. Same way if you feel better than them, they don't take advantage of that. And that is, that is heartbreaking that somebody will be in a community like that and you can't pull from them either because you're like, oh my God, everybody's doing, doing well and I suck or you know, they all suck. Nobody can tell me anything. But you're in a community that is literally changing lives and can change yours too, right? And so it's not just the on trend business school community, but just communities in general. Okay, so there's some big mindset viruses, okay? Number, number five. It will convince you, oh my goodness, I could talk for two days on this. It will convince you that new things are too hard and it shouldn't take all that, AKA an entitlement mentality. Okay, so think about it. We're doctors and we went to school forever and we were trained forever and we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to gain said education and all of that kind of stuff. And so sometimes we come into the business world going like, well, I've paid my dues, I'm not going to put in the effort to learn these new things. I'm not going to try things that are new. I'm not going to try things that feel uncomfortable to me. And to that I'm like, that's a weed. That's. That's a mindset virus that, that is weed in your garden. Because guess what? Everything you did in the medical world was great for the medical world. But if you're going to thrive in the business, business world, you are going to learn new things. And every new thing is hard. Before, it's simple, everything. Now you can drive your car without thinking. Think about when you started, right? Now you can work your email without thinking about it. Think about when you started, right? Think about the things you do as a doctor. They were hard and then they became easy or easier. And it's the same thing that's required in business. So it is the highest level of pride to walk in and say, I'm going to start a business. I'm going to do it great. You know, I want to grow my business to multiple six figures, seven figures, and all of that stuff. But I'm not doing anything new. I'm not doing anything that seems hard. It shouldn't take all that. I don't understand why it's taking all that. Because the dream costs what it costs. That's why it's taking that much. That's the way this works. That is always the way this works. Okay? So when that shows up, that is the undisciplined mind. And it will rob you of millions of dollars in revenue. It will rob you of your peace. It will rob you of all of that, because that is resistance to what is required for you to build the business of your dreams. So that thought of, you know, everything, it's too hard. I only do it's too hard. And I'm not saying it's not going to be hard. It will be, but it's hard, man. But we'll do it, right, okay? And then finally, the undisciplined mind will make you think that everybody's thinking about you and everybody's judging you. And I'm here to tell you, very few people are thinking about you and very few people are judging. Right? But it'll make you think people are thinking about you all the time. When you see people in conversation, be like, oh, they're talking about me because they think I'm not good at this or I suck at this. I am telling you, people are tuned into a radio station called wiifm. What's in it for me? They have themselves on the, on their mind most of the time they're not thinking about you. And so there are things you'll want to do. You want to post on social media. You're like, oh, what? They'll say, oh, you want to go give a talk or what they'll say. You want to launch that program or what? They'll say, you want to start your private practice? Oh, what would they say? You want to scale? You want to get a second location, third location? What will they say? Oh, they're going to judge me. All of those kind of things. It is like breaks that you're walking around with, like, imaginary breaks that are actually stopping you that you're walking around with, okay, so the whole essence of this episode is I wanted to take a moment to expose these things. So you're like, wait a minute, wait a minute. What do I want you to do with this? I want you to think about what you're thinking about, right? I want to take the tweezers and go like, wow, I've actually been thinking these six things, right? And I want you to identify them as lies. These are lies. They're mindset viruses. They're things that are going to stop you when you think about the enemies of your business. It's not the haters on the outside. It's these crazy thoughts on the inside. And I want you to identify them as the lies that they are. You may not be able to get rid of them, right? But you can at least identify them as lies so you can move in spite of them. If someone walks up to me and says, oh, my goodness, your name is not Neca. Your name is not Dr. Una. Your name is Rachel. I mean, like, they can say it all they want. They can follow me for the rest of my life saying that, but I know it's a lie, so I don't pay them any mind. If somebody calls me Rachel, I'm not going to turn around because that's not my name, right? In the same way, you may not be able to get rid of the thoughts, but you can get to a position where you're like, okay, that's a lie. That's an enemy. I can identify it. That's going to stop me. So I don't let it stop me. I no longer let these thoughts vote when something is going wrong, and I'm like, oh, my goodness, you. Nobody ever helps me. Nobody answers my question. Nobody. I can go like, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold up, hold up. I am 100% responsible for my results. So what can I do to turn this around? Who can I reach out to for help who can support me, right? When you start thinking, you know, like, oh, everybody's better than me, you catch yourself. Nope, nope, nope. Nobody. When it business. Nobody's better than me, right? They may know things I don't know. And what a privilege that I'm in a position where I can learn from them. So I'm going to ask them questions, I'm going to watch what they're doing and all of those things, and I'm going to be them. Right? Identify them as lies and then stop allowing them vote. Stop allowing the lies determine your actions. Okay? You take the actions you know you need to take for your business, even if the lies are still ongoing. Okay? And I want you to think about this, okay? Think about it. You can. You're putting yourself in a position where those thoughts are no longer crippling thoughts, because that's what all of these are. They're crippling. They're crippling. Oh, you know what? They're thinking about me. That's a crippling thought. Oh, this is too hard. And it shouldn't take all that. That's cripp. What if you're like, this is hard, but not. I mean, like, I went to medical school, now that's hard. This is just, you know, baby heart, I can do this. So imagine where all of those are still trying to come up and stop you, but you no longer let it vote. You're taking massive action in your business. You just, like, you took all the brakes off, and then you're free to go, and you're free to make the next 12 months the best 12 months ever in the history of your business, that could be a. That could be you. Okay? So if you want to listen to this podcast episode with a friend and you guys kind of workshop it and say, hey, where's that showing up? Where's that showing up? And you guys are dressing and hold yourself accountable. Like, we're going to get this right. We're going to overcome this. We're going to get rid of the breaks and do that. Okay, do that. But let me tell you this. These are some of the six thoughts after coaching hundreds of physicians that come up time and time and time and time again. And I just want to say one of the best things you can do is share this episode with another doctor in your life and say, hey, go listen to this. If you want to form a little accountability pod. And, hey, we're going to work through this together. Why not? Okay? So go share it. This is going to create some big ripple effect in the physician community for sure.
