The Power of Saying Yes Daily
30 Jan 2026 · 8 min
A podcast episode by Dr. Nneka Unachukwu (Dr. Una) titled "The Power of Saying Yes Daily" encouraging physicians to embrace entrepreneurship by committing to small, daily "yes" actions. Dr. Unachukwu recounts how, during the 2020 pandemic, she leaned into faith (as an Enneagram type six), began daily scripture study and journaling, shared her notes with a faith group, then compiled and published a devotional (Meditate to Thrive launched Dec 23, 2020). She connects these incremental "yeses" to later EntreMD milestones (coaching, events, podcast) and issues calls to action for listeners to commit publicly and use EntreMD resources.

If your business isn't working the way you expected, it's not because you're bad at business. It's because no one ever taught you how it actually works. We were trained to master algorithms in medicine, but when it comes to revenue teams and growth, we were never taught anything. We weren't even told to figure it out. We just assumed somehow we'd know. Like it would magically make sense. But it doesn't. The era of the seven Figure Physician CEO is here. And it's not about working harder. It's about learning entrepreneurship as a system. The same way you mastered ACLs and pals, you can master the algorithm of building a profitable scalable business. That's why I recorded the Seven Figure Physician CEO audiobook. Whether you're building a medical or non medical business, and whether your goal is your first million, first 2 million, first 5 million, first 10 million, this is where the journey starts. There is no calvary coming to save us. We are the calvary. So. So go get your audiobook now. Www.entremd.com 7Figurebook. And let's rewrite the narrative for physicians starting today.
Hi, docs. Welcome to the Entre MD podcast, where it is all about helping amazing physicians just like you, embrace entrepreneurship so you can have the freedom to live life and practice medicine on your terms. I'm your host, Dr. Una. Well, hello. Hello and welcome to another episode of the Entre Empty podcast. And I am recording this episode because I was just thinking about you, right? I was thinking, like, what can I do to inspire you to give you some practical action steps you can take to make your business better, whether you are an intrapreneur, an entrepreneur, and there's something that happened, a goal that I did not even set, that I accomplished in 2020. And I was just thinking about it and the lessons from it, and I wanted to share those with you. All right, now, before I go into this episode at all, I want to set the stage. And this is what the stage is. Once upon a time, I found a course on the Enneagram types. And I was like, that's pretty interesting. I wonder what kind of, you know, what my personality type is, right? And I was going through all of them, and they got to type six. And it was like somebody was reading my mind, telling all my business. It was so accurate. I was like, what in the world? Okay, so you can look it up. I'm a number six. But one of the things that struck me the most was the presenter said that Enneagram sixers have pre Traumatic stress disorder. So not post. Like, even before, stuff has happened, already made up stuff already made up the ways it will all play out wrong. Everything will fall apart, and we're already sad in anticipation. And if you know me, you're probably like, wait a minute, you're one of the most positive people I know. How is that possible? But that's the thing. And I'll tell you how it is possible. And he went on and all of that. So, I mean, before there's a pandemic, Enneagram Sixers are already having. They've already created the pandemic. They've already created all the problems around it. They've done all of that. And then. So I was waiting to see what he would say the fix was and is. This is very interesting. All right. He was like, I don't know how else to say this, but Enneagram Sixers, they need to depend on faith. I'm like, wait, what? This is not a faith based course. He's like, they need to depend on faith. They need to believe that there's somebody out there, bigger than them who can be held responsible for their results. Like, who has their back. More like someone who has their back. And I'm like, okay, I just thought that was really, really interesting. So one of the things they really deal with is fear and the antidote for them is faith. I was like, okay, now. So just to give you a feel for where I come from, okay. And when the pandemic hit in 2020, I mean, like, everything was chaotic in the beginning. Everything was unknown, everything was uncertain. Everything that could be shaken was shaken. Everything that, that seemed untouchable became touchable. It was just a lot. And I remember going like, you know what? I'm going to thrive. I don't know how, but this is what I'm deciding to do. And I was like, I'm going to lean in and I'm going to develop my faith even more. This was before I did the Enneagram test. I'm going to develop that even more. I'm going to spend time, you know, I am a person of faith, so I'm going to spend time, I'm going to study the Bible, I'm going to, you know, see what God has to say about all this stuff. And I started doing a lot of study. All right. So now in the process of doing that, I said yes to a number of things that led to a goal I hadn't even set, accomplishing a goal I hadn't even set. And I want to share that with you today because there are many things we should be saying yes to. And we should be saying yes to often. I would dare say daily. And that's why I call this podcast episode the Power of saying yes Daily. And it will dramatically change our lives. Okay, all right. So pandemic hit. I decided I'm going to study my Bible more. I'm going to learn more about the scriptures. I'm going to develop my faith because I need that to weather this storm. And that was the first yes that I said. I said yes to that. I'm going to build my faith because I don't want to live the whole year in fear. So that was number one. And then as I started spending time studying, pulling up dictionaries, like really digging in, I just had this nudge. Like, why don't you just document this? I mean, like, don't just study it and let it. You know, you're going to forget this stuff. And this is really good. Like, you know, you're doing something really nice. Why don't you document it? And I'm like, okay, yeah, I can do that, right? So I, you know, went and I got a journal. And then so what I'll do is every day, seven o', clock, I'll just sit, I'll study, and then I'll journal. And so I started doing that and it was in depth. It was like a page a day, you know, so that was the second thing I said yes to. And then after that, I had this nudge again. Like, you're part of this faith based group. Why don't you share your discoveries with them? And you know, I am a really private person and I'm like, I don't want my thoughts. Like, this is kind of vulnerable. Ish. I don't know if I want to do that, but that nudge wouldn't go away. And you know, eventually I'm like, okay, so instead of writing them up in a journal or type them up on the note app on my computer, and then I just copy and paste and paste and post it in the group. And so that was the third thing that I said yes to. So, you know, I study every day, I document every day, I share with the group. So those were three yeses that I had said. And then after I posted in the group, I started getting this nudge. I mean, you're already writing them. It's about 330 words a day. You know, why don't you put together a devotional? And I'm like, no, I'm busy. Like I have all this other stuff going on. I don't have the bandwidth to do a devotional. And maybe a week after that, my executive assistant, Mikita, shout out to Mikita. She's like, you're already doing this stuff. Why don't I get you an editor and someone who can format it and make this a devotional? I'm like, mikita, we are not talking about this, okay? I am not doing a devotional. And then in the group where I was posting every day, some of the women in the group were like, why don't you make this a devotional? Like, I can't wait for the devotional. And I'm like, okay, all right, all right, all right. Let me just pedal back here. Is this complicated? No. Am I already writing?
Yes.
Am I. Am I already doing the first draft and editing? Yes. So what is left is to edit is to format, to do all that stuff. Okay, all right, fine. And so I, you know, I kind of put that like, okay, I'm going to do that at some point. And then eventually I just said yes. You know, I got an editor, I got someone to format it, I got a printer, got all of that stuff. And on December 23, 2020, I launched a devotional called Meditate to Thrive. And the reason why I'm telling you this story is because I didn't start 2020 planning to write any book I had never really thought of. I actually had never thought of writing a devotional. And here I am at the end of the year with a goal that I never set, but it's accomplished because I said little yeses, right? Like, yes, I'm going to study more, and yes, I'm going to journal what I study. And yes, I'm going to type it up instead of writing it and share it with another group. And yes, I'm okay, I'll get someone to format it and edit it and all that stuff. And yes, I'm going to hit publish. So you're like, okay, Dr. Uno, what's the point? You want us all to write devotionals? No, that's not what I want. But there are things that you need to say yes to. They may not seem big. You may not think they'll amount so much, but if you said yes, what could become of them? Now, am I saying say yes to everything? No, no, no, no, no. But there are some things you need to say yes to, right? If you have, you're thinking about your business and there's this nagging thing of something you just really think you should do. And that thought doesn't go away. And the more quiet you get, the louder that thought gets. Whenever you're calm, either you know you're taking a walk or you're just thinking and all that kind of stuff is just there, then say yes to it. If there's something that's essential to the success of your business that you know you should do, say yes to it. Okay, so say yes to it. So for you, that could be, maybe you need to commit to putting yourself out there. Maybe you need to commit to being a guest on several podcasts. Maybe you need to commit and say yes to an event you've been invited to speak at. Maybe you need to say yes to hosting your own event. Maybe you need to say yes for signing up with a coach. Maybe. Whatever it is. But these little decisions are the things that lead us to great accomplishments. So I started thinking, like, going back the whole entremd journey, and I found out it's the same principle. It really is the same. When I first signed up for coaching, if you listen to the podcast, you would have heard me talk about it. And I'm like, the very first program that I signed up for was a $43,000 program. At this time, I didn't have. I mean, I had the practice, but the coaching wasn't for the practice. This is like, I know there's more. I want more. You know, I know there's some consulting coaching thing I'm supposed to do. There's some speaking thing I'm supposed to do. I don't know. I didn't have a registered business, so clearly I didn't have a website. I didn't have an agenda, per se. But I was like, I know there's. I need to do more. And I said yes to that. There are no guarantees. There are no certainties. But I knew that I had to do more. I knew that doctoring could not be my only skill. And then when it was time to become a coach, I was like, hey, I don't know. I mean, like Tony Robbins, a coach. I'm really gonna go out there and say that I'm a coach. And, you know, what are people gonna say? And the haters are gonna come out with guns blazing and all this kind of stuff. And what. You know, what if I can't help everybody? And. And all the insecurities that everybody at some point faces, right? And I had to say yes. I'm like, yes, you've helped a lot of people in informal capacity. You do this stuff. And I Said yes to that. And when it was time for the first on Trend Live, that wasn't like, you know, that was a strategy from December the year before. It was like, wait a minute, this is a one day event. I've learned how to pull off a one day event. Maybe I should do a one day event. And that's literally right. And that was such a powerful, impactful meeting that, you know, event that we had. And when it was time to launch this podcast, it was like, wow, you know, I asked around, you know, most of you said you'd rather consume content in the podcast form than the vlog form. And I was like, oh, well, I mean, and I said yes. So maybe you're here. And there are things you've been stalling on either because you don't have the full picture, you don't know how all of it will play out, you feel a little insecure and. And all of that stuff. I want to challenge you today to say yes. The beautiful thing about saying yes is, number one, is you get to accomplish your goals, and then number two, you get to accomplish goals you didn't even set. You get to move in the direction of your purpose. Like you're just moving forward and doing things even bigger than what you thought you could do. So I want you to say yes. So I want you to take a moment and I want you to think of some specifics. It could be one thing, it could be two things, three things, but specific things, things that you've been stalling on that you need to say yes to today. And I want you to say yes to them. In fact, I want you to take a screenshot of this podcast episode, and I want you to go out there and say, this is what I'm committing to. Like, in this year, I'm committing to do xyz. Right? You can do that. And just tag us hashtag ontremd. We'll look out for it. Okay. You might go like, well, I'm listening to this at 10pm if that's what it is, then set the intention that, you know, first thing tomorrow, I'm going to start doing xyz. But say yes, say yes. All the change happens when you say yes and do things that you're uncomfortable with. Even if you don't understand, everything is going to take you in the path that you should be going down. Okay. All right. So if you want to check out the devotional, you can. It's entre md.com forward/devotional. You can check it out. You can get a copy for yourself, a copy for your friends and, you know, people of faith in your life. But say yes, okay? And I want you to think about the next 12 months. Think about the next 12 months. What if there were months full of yeses? You said yes to those things you know you should do for your business. You said yes to those things that have been nagging at you. You would be dramatically different. Your life would be different. Your business would be different. Because many of the goals you've been carrying over from year to year, you'll finally accomplish them. And some goals you didn't even know to set, you will accomplish them. Okay, so it all starts with saying yes. So share this episode with a doctor. Say yes. And I can't wait to celebrate what happens in your life because you said yes. See you on the next episode.
