There's definitely a multifactorial component when it comes to your smile. I think the state of someone's smile and mouth is multifactorial. There is definitely genetics. There's also lifestyle and the way you take care of your teeth, environment as well, many different factors, diet, self-care, all of those things. So genetics do play a big role, but I'm a big believer in something called epigenetics, where we have control over our genes depending on how well we take care of ourselves. And I don't mean that just with dentistry, I mean that across the board. I think that we're given a certain set of genes that we have to work with within certain parameters, but there's a very wide range there with how they can manifest and express themselves.
