The pandemic forced people to pause their routines and question whether they want to go back. Speaker B compares it to a compressed spring that wants to launch forward, not return to a meaningless five-day-a-week job, but worries society can't provide the more fulfilling life people now crave.
And I think that one of the things the pandemic has done is that it has simultaneously shut us up or shut us in the way you're describing. But I don't think it's that people are going, now that I've been shut in, I want to, boom, go back to the way things were, where I get to go to my meaningless job five days a week.
No, nobody's asking for that. Yeah.
I think like a spring that we compress the spring, and the spring doesn't just want to go back to where it was before the spring wants to go kaboing, and we want to go. You know what? Now that I have. Now that I have been so deeply shuttered in, I can see that my life as it was, wasn't actually that great either. So now I want something much more. And, you know, I mean, again, given the nature of our economy, I'm not at all sure that it's going to be provided for most people, but I am hoping people are hungry for it now and again. You know, the truth is, I didn't plan this.
