Dr. Wayne Pernell describes resilience as an invisible muscle running head to toe that can be trained like any physical muscle. He says there are five science-backed ways to strengthen it, preparing you to bounce forward through everyday stress and bigger challenges.

So the second thing I want to talk about is a resilience muscle. Now this isn't something you're going to see on like an anatomy chart in biology class. It's like this invisible muscle we all have that goes from the very top of our head to the tips of our toes. It runs through every fiber of our being. And like any muscle, like any muscle, there are things you can do to make it stronger. So why do you have a resilience muscle? Well, that's the thing that drives you forward, to bounce forward. It's what you need to activate or use, engage while navigating a challeng. And there are things you can do when things aren't hard to strengthen that muscle. And these are things that you can also do when it's hard. But you know, if I go to the gym and I'm doing like a lot of arm exercises to get stronger and then you ask me to help you move a couch, I'm ready, I'm ready to move that couch. So I, there's a lot of science backed ways to be resilient. I have five I like to focus on and they're really easy to implement.
