Quick Unboxing: OpenAI x Work Louder Codex Micro Controller

Dylan Andersen unboxes the OpenAI x Work Louder Creator Micro, a compact controller with a clicky joystick, agent buttons, and themed keycaps like YOLO and Git commands. The device feels premium but lacks a built-in microphone, which he sees as a missed opportunity for laptop-closed setups.

All right, we've got the Codex Micro here. Box is pretty non-assuming. Work Louder, OpenAI. On the back here, it says Creator Micro 2, or not Codex Micro, sorry, Creator Micro. It's your new AI agent controller. Got the USB-C cable, and then also got a box of some additional keycaps. So let's open this guy up and see what is inside. So take off the top and here is the unit. Pretty cool. Um, let's see. Yeah, pretty lightweight. Um, definitely like premium feeling. It's got a nice Codex logo there on the bottom. Uh, this is the clicky version. Joystick is nice. I don't like how it's like not capped on the side. Obviously it's design choice, but, uh, feels good. Feels a lot like a, um, kind of like a gamepad, uh, but very like a lot of throw in it, which is interesting. A lot of ability to spin this. Pretty clicky on the spin and then very loud click. Obviously different Agent buttons. This button here feels definitely the most almost sticky in a way. Definitely not like other clicky keys that I played with, but feels very nice. That's the back of it there. Definitely will look good. I'm probably going to use it with this keyboard here, which is the Air75. What is this, the V2? Yeah, the V2, uh, which is great. So this is a, uh, linear keycap here, but Cool. I'm going to plug it in and see what happens. And real quick, here is all the keycaps that you get, which is kind of cool. The pet, I assume, OpenAI button, download. Some git commands there. Pretty cool. There's YOLO and Yeet. Love Yeet. Push and commit. Um, but yeah, pretty cool. Extra keycaps there. Pretty nice. And also kind of a nice braided cable with some rubber ends there. I don't know if you can see that, but it's got a plus, a diamond, and then this little knob, kind of half-moon. Nothing on the back. And then the other one, same thing. A nice little braided cable, about 3 feet. So yeah, we'll plug this in and see how it goes. All right, got it hooked up now to Codex. I'm gonna go send this command on the first agent here. So it's actually blue, I don't know if you can see that. And then should show done. It's very bright and like, looks like, you know, switching between agents is nice. Switching between fast mode, it's kind of cool. Branching chats. Let's just say, are you on? And then we'll go back here and say test. We'll go here and say test. So you can see this agent's Working. That one's completed. That one has something to tell me. Kind of cool. Uh, we'll really have to understand, like, it looks like 1, 2, kind of 3, 4, 5, 6. You can download the Workloader app and get it customized, but this is kind of cool. I like the clickiness of it, and it's pretty fast in the UI too. Again, I think that this button is pretty sticky on my unit. It just doesn't feel the same, kind of as I would suspect it would. I'm also really disappointed that this doesn't have a microphone in the unit. Like, I don't understand why they couldn't put a simple microphone here. Um, most of the time I use my, my computer closed, so it will be very, you know, super convenient to have a microphone. But I guess they decided against that. I would have, you know, easily gotten rid of this joystick, which is really just like a quick settings, quick action button for a microphone. But maybe the microphone quality wasn't great, I don't know. Or maybe I'm the only person who doesn't have a microphone sitting on my desk. So anyways, yeah, that's the Creator Micro from OpenAI and WorkLouder. Take care.
