One critical thing when you're trying to get mentors is have someone else, what I call preheat you to them. Because when you go up to someone and say, hey, my name is Dylan, I'm a good person, I'm a good human, I want to be successful, they're less likely to believe it than if someone else does it. Psychology states that people believe more about what other people say about you than what you say about yourself. To have someone do the positive hype talk for you, and now subconsciously, that person's mind, they believe it. So if you can show that you're actually an action taker and you're going to do stuff, these people are more willing to actually help you.
