Short conversational excerpt from the YouTube video "Robots Can Already Run The World" (Dylan Vanas, June 4, 2023). Speakers debate that technology may already exist to automate ~90% of jobs, but society may not be ready; they use a hypothetical fully automated McDonald’s to explore potential benefits (higher-quality ingredients, lower prices) and downsides (public revolt, job loss).
I've heard, like Elon Musk and others say that we have the technology. We're at the point where we can actually automate 90% of the jobs in the world. But we don't, because society is not ready for it. While an automated McDonald's could make a burger, flip it, package it, and deliver.
It to us, it'd be perfect.
It would be perfect, but society's not ready for it. Like, if McDonald's fired all their retail employees and just had machines doing the stuff, people would revolt right now.
Yeah, they'd riot. But on the flip side, they could be like, all right, we're going to go 100% automated. However, we're going to use only organic beef, grass fed this and grass fed that because we don't have to pay that overhead of employees anymore. So now you're going to get a real burger. You know, it's going to be better quality than going to a Michelin chef restaurant.
Can you imagine? Hey, honey, where do you want to go tonight to dinner? Do you want to go to STK down on the Strip Mastros or you want to go to McDonald's like me?
