Dylan Vanas argues attending events as an audience member wastes your time. Instead, speak or go as a speaker's guest, pitch free talks to organizers while taking commission on sales, or create your own events to build real leverage and authority.

Stop going to events. What I mean by that, you don't want to go to an event as a person in the audience. Why? Your positioning is destroyed. What you want to do is find a way to go to events as either a speaker or a speaker's guest. What you can do is make a little 10 minute talk and then start promoting it to people when you see events, whatever it is, right? And then you go to a conference and you offer the person who's running the event to. You'll do a free talk for them and you'll pitch whatever you're selling. Anyone that buys, you're going to give them a commission on it. So now you're adding double value. That's one opportunity. Or just create events like this or build your brand so that people start inviting you to events. Get on podcasts, have a podcast, do whatever it is you can to build your authority so that you're not someone that's in the room. Because then you don't have the ability to get those high leverage opportunities.
