Dylan Vanas argues there's no single roadmap to finding mentors. The best mentor has what you want. You need to learn to follow advice, be honest with them, and adapt their guidance to your own situation.
I used to think there was this roadmap where if I could find, like a mentor, that I would be successful. But as I went through the process, I realized that the reason that doesn't exist is because what worked for me doesn't necessarily mean it's going to work for you. The best thing can happen to someone is to have a mentor who's got what you want. But you're going to have to learn to customize things along the way. I know that my mentors, they told me what to do, and a lot of times I also didn't follow the advice. You're going to have to learn to be good at following advice and being honest with your mentors, and then at the same time, customizing the advice to fit your specific instance and focus.
