An unsexy week building two online businesses for sales people

Dylan Vergara walks through his self-improvement framework after hitting a low point, then reveals why his sales-training business isn't hitting six figures despite strong reputation. He's testing three funnel changes: a new booking flow, a low-ticket group upsell, and form optimization.

You, you.
All right, welcome back to a new YouTube video. All right guys, I'm gonna be honest with you. I had a recent revelation, and there were 2 events that led me to this revelation. I'll start with the revelation, then we'll get into the events. I'm just— I'm good enough at a lot of things. I'm not great at anything. And as a man, I feel like you should be great at something or a couple of things, or at least pursuing greatness. I'm not great at anything, nor am I actively pursuing, like genuinely pursuing greatness. So I need to change that. And yes, like I'm a high performer. I see myself as a high performer, but like every aspect of my life that's important to me, there are— well, one, there's like people just doing way more, which You know, you could argue that's healthy or not, but I know internally I could be doing way more. So on the board I got some reasons, but the 2 things that happened— number one, my pit of despair. I don't drink all that often, like I regular socially, just like a lot of you guys probably. Last week I drank more than I usually do. Long story short, I woke up and sat in my bed basically all day the next day. I was so dehydrated. It's been a really long time since I felt like that. I didn't get out of bed until like 4 o'clock and it was 'cause I had to go do something. So that made me feel terrible. But then also, actually there's 3 events. The pit of despair and then realizing like the actual gravity of the situation was my Garmin watch. 'Cause I've been really into like tracking my sleep, my recovery, all this stuff. And I didn't realize how bad that would just nuke. Like it literally threw everything completely off for like 2 days. And then I'm looking at like how much progress I'm gaining and then how much I lost in that time and I'm like, Wow, that's really bad. No wonder I'm not where I want to be. That's like the downfall. And then recently you may have seen me post on like Twitter or Instagram a quote from Enzo Ferrari. Quote itself was like, one day I want to make a car faster than all the others, and then I want to die. And when he said that, he was 60 years old. I think he had already made cars that were faster than the others. Anyways, if you don't listen to the Founders Podcast, they basically just do deep dives on founders of like the coolest companies and most successful companies. I was listening to that. I was listening to the Enzo Ferrari episode, and I was like, wow, this guy is next level. Like, he is just— he is the definition of greatness. And he's a little obsessive. I'm not trying to be obsessive, but there's room for improvement. So here are the things that I've identified as areas of room for improvement, and I've ranked these here. I got goals at the top, support in the middle, things I need to stop here. My goals right now Relationships, work, running, lifting. Those are my goals. I am good at a lot of those. I am not great at any, and I'm not even close to it. So relationships with my fiancée, my friends, my family, I can always be better. Nothing super troublesome there. Work, I've just not been working that much, honestly. The pendulum of freedom has swung too far.
I work—
I used to work harder than anyone else I knew. And then I got the pendulum swung all the way to the right because I created leverage and freedom. And now it's time for that to come back. I almost have like a lack of structure, so I'm trying to reimplement structure so I can get to the next level. Running is the highest because that is like my main focus right now, but it could be higher. I'm trying to add another day of running. And then lifting— and this is over the course of the last week, so every week I want to come and like update this— but lifting is at a 1. I did not lift last week. I pinched a nerve in my back and it Really threw me for a loop. So those are my big goals. Those are things I can directly work at. Here are the supporting things that if I do these, these will be easier and I will just overall feel better about everything. My diet, I will work better and I will perform better in running and lifting if I get my diet right. I was doing well for a minute and then last week I just went carb overload and not enough protein. So that was bad. My sleep, I already told you guys I'm trying to improve that. Learning. I want to start just like being proactive with learning, more reading, more podcasts. I do listen to podcasts, but I want to do more. I just started reading a new book too. And then focus. I want to be more intentional with my time, and I notice a lot of times when I am working, it's so easy for me to get distracted, which these kind of bleed into the things that I need to do less of. But it's so easy for me to get distracted with like social media and messages and emails and all that. Like No matter what I'm doing, I want that to be like the only thing that I'm doing. So for example, I was eating breakfast right before this. I was intentionally staring at the wall because I can't remember, I heard this recently, but I only want to try to do one thing at a time. If it's eating breakfast, it's eating breakfast. If it's working, it's working. Like, I just want to be more present and, and be able to almost like weaponize focus. I feel like people, a lot of people are missing that right now. And then the things that I need to do less of, I tried to think of 4, but I didn't wanna just add stupid shit in there. Phone. It's very easy for me to convince myself that being on my phone is productive because I do work in like social media space and, you know, I gotta know kinda what's happening, who's doing what. But there's a lot of time where I'm on my phone and I'm not doing any of that. So I need to cut that out. Procrastination. I don't know if any of you guys can relate. I'm really good at procrastinating things. that do not have to do with business. Little stuff like, I have a medical bill that I've been meaning to pay, but I have to like jump through these hoops and I haven't been able to do that. Or like, just like little stuff that's annoying that takes like 5 minutes that I should just do to unlock the mental bandwidth in my mind so I could focus better, so I could work better. You see how these are all connected? The last thing here is spending. It's not so much about the actual spending, but it is like why I am doing the spending. I really don't spend that much, but like even if it's like $5, $10, whatever, it's like I feel like me buying things, whether it could be like food, it could be like going out and like getting a drink at the store just because like I'm bored. Like I feel like I'm usually, and maybe this just goes back to procrastination, I'm just not being intentional with it. So maybe I should put intentional, being intentional up here. Maybe that is focus. Same thing. I challenge you to do the same. This channel, yes, it's about, you know, my businesses and helping people get remote sales jobs, but like none of that shit matters if the rest of your life isn't in order. And that's why I do take this approach of holistically showing my life and pursuits, not just business, not just sales, but a little bit of like the running stuff, the friend stuff, stuff I'm working on, like this big-ass painting that you guys have seen in a couple of videos now.
Do this. Try this.
Put your big goals, put the supporting things that are going to help all your goals, and then just put things that you need to do less of. Comment that down below. I'm curious what you guys are working on. Now, if you're going to try to do this, try, try this. I cannot walk into my office without this staring me in the face. I think that's going to help. I just got back from a bike ride listening to Jeff Bezos's shareholder letters, and I need to make everything better in my business. This is what I'm gonna try to do right now. By the way, this is some real behind-the-scenes shit. I don't usually show you guys this, but there's 3 things I realized. If we just do these, our business will do a lot better. Like, we have a business that helps a lot of people, gets people a lot of great results. Like, you've probably seen that if you've watched the YouTube channel. Like, we're super transparent with everything. So why is our business not making way more money? Like, there's a lot of people making way, way, way, way more money With like 20% of the product that we have, with 10% of the reputation that we have. I kind of want to get this up to 6 figures a month. We've never done that. Here's the things we're going to do. If you're watching this and you're coming into the community funnel, I don't know, this is going to take a second to build, but you might see some of this. So we've always run follower DM set. It's just not going to work. We're going to start running some book a call funnel and then route based on financial and other qualifiers. And we might run a—
trying to find my hand—
we might run a low-ticket funnel, put people through a group, and then upsell through the group. It shouldn't take that long to implement those. Next, booking form. If you guys have ever looked at the booking form, it's the first link in the description. We just like straight up transparently tell people how much the product is. I can zoom out a little. And we still wanna do that. However, we do it in a way that is not very conducive to people booking more calls. Like, we really don't book that many calls. So we need to book more calls. Like, we have a super high drop-off rate in our call booking funnel because it's so tight. So we need to loosen it a little bit, get more shots on the board, talk to more of you guys. And so I'm going to upload the data of the Typeform and all the submissions and see where people drop off and where people book and, and all that. We have a lot of data, like 1,000 entries. Like, there's 1,000 people that have submitted this form that probably takes 5 to 10 minutes if done right. And then we can see if they book or they don't book. I'm gonna set a timer and talk to AI for 30 minutes about this. Then I'm gonna tell you what AI tells me about this and then how I'm gonna change the booking form to fix that. Lastly, client success. We already have good client success, but I want to get, I want to get freaky accurate with the tracking, meaning every single person, we know exactly where they are, how many times we reach out to them, how long they take to reply. Where they're at, why they're where they're at, how does that compare to how long they take to reply or how much money they paid or this, this, and that, or their background. I wanna get crazy with the data and client success because that becomes a better sales tool, a marketing tool. We posted 353 jobs last month and we had like less than 10 people join our community. Shout out to you guys. But yeah, a lot of you guys are setters and closers. We're still serving setters and closers too. I think we posted like 24 jobs today or something like that. But if you guys wanna see me get fired up and scale a business, this is next. After I finalize the meetup stuff, which you guys probably aren't gonna see this by the time it's released, but there's like 3 more VIP tickets that I'm gonna drop tomorrow. Sorry you missed it. After I finalize that, which is almost done, I am full-on sprint. We are booking more calls in the community. We're gonna get more shots on the board. We're gonna help more people, and we're gonna track it way better than we currently are. So we have the recruiters that are posting like 353 jobs last month, and then every Monday we have a wins challenge update and a fulfillment update. Wins challenge is public, fulfillment is not. And if people don't get the result, 'cause like any coaching program, any community, any whatever high ticket, like there are people who do not get the result. That is normal. If you think that's not normal, like you're literally on a different planet. However, nobody getting the result versus most people getting the results, 2 different things.
I'm about to get real vulnerable on the channel with you guys, but through this vulnerability, I hope to put you on.
So I wear shorts a lot.
I wear like the same pair, all different colors. They are Lululemon 5-inch inseam. Forgot what they're called, but they're 5-inch inseam. You can get them at the stores. They're pretty popular. They have one fatal flaw.
After you wear them enough, it's kind of like a gradual thing through like washing, drying, and running, and lifting, and all this, and wearing, and whatever. That sucks.
This has happened to me a few times.
However, these shorts are like $70, and a lot of people are like, whoa, they're $70 and they rip like that?
That's not good.
You're right, it's not good.
If you take them into the store, they will literally just replace them for free.
So I've paid— this black pair, for example, like black is a staple, always got to get black.
I paid for one black pair of Lululemon shorts. I've probably had like 3 or 4, and they look good, they feel good, they're comfortable.
Besides the fact you If you want to make that argument like, oh, they're plastic, they're not good for you, you can make that argument.
I'm not here to make that argument today.
I'm here to say they're comfy, they look good, you can replace them for free.
I don't know what else you need to hear. So go get you some Lululemon shorts, man. Don't say I didn't put you on.
New community stuff is live. It's almost the end of the week. I talked a lot earlier in the video, so this one's going to be not too many clips, but just wanted to show y'all chicken parm. Yeah, it's about to go crazy. Haven't filled y'all in. Opened up more VIP tickets and sold them in 10 minutes. 4 tickets gone in 10 minutes.
Friday, 4 miles done at an 8:40 pace. Little easy Friday run.
Earlier in the video, I was talking about those sliders.
One of them is learning and focus, and I have been reading this book, about halfway done. I didn't learn this in this book, but I learned it through an interpretation of Jeff Bezos's shareholder letters. Think about going for a home run in baseball and And going for a home run in business, you'll hit it 10% of the time. And for that reason, you know, you have to expect to not hit it 90% of the time. But in baseball, the upside is 4 scores. You can't score more than 4 times with 1 home run. But with business, there is no cap to the upside. Like it could be 1,000 times. And that's why in business, in sales and high-ticket sales, you should be swinging for the fences, especially if you're a young dude. Because if you genuinely made 10 attempts, 9 of them are going to fail. 1 of them is not going to fail. You have unlimited upside.
Let's get Chu Chong over here. The boy's coming back to high ticket. Bro's closing a $100,000 appointment set right there. You can see back here the sliders, man. It's, uh, Saturday. We did pretty good, did pretty good. Got a lot of stuff done in the business, had some good conversations, passed 2,500 subscribers on Because of Sales. And I guess really what I'm trying to do is create a side hustle that does Like a lot of revenue so I can focus on my other business that will be worth a lot of revenue, but it's going to take some time to get there. So that's kind of the pursuit. If you want to help yourself and help me at the same time, we run a sales community where we help people get remote sales jobs and we're really good at it. We've been doing it for 3 years now. Literally, you can't even make this up. Look at the time as I'm recording this. Closed a client at the beach bar. 10-minute call later, we got a PIF. That's probably near a $1,000 commission for him. We got Jake. Friday night cap, little $10K piff to end the week before a 3-week vacation. It's probably about $1,000 for him. This is all within the last day, by the way. Adam took less than a day to get a new role, sent out 5 applications, booked 3 interviews, just got a part-time role the same day. Noah with a $14,000 cash collected day. Look at that bottom paragraph. Life is changing week by week. Wouldn't be in this position without TSSC. He had his first $10K month last month, not just through high-ticket sales, but he runs a lighting business on the side. Between the both of them, Had a 10K month. I think he did like 7 in high-ticket sales. And yeah, I mean, there's there's just stuff coming through here all the time. I know that the path for me getting the outcome that I want with this business is by helping you guys get the outcome that you want. I'm getting really pissed off with people in the like high-ticket sales space, and they're like, "Yeah, dude, I make like 100K a month with high-ticket sales." That is not as a sales rep. Just so you guys know, if your mentor, your mentor, or who you who you're considering doing business with is You're attracted to that because they say they're a $100K a month, $200K a month sales rep. That is bullshit. Like they are lying to you. They're going to lie to you in the marketing. What do you think they're going to do in the fulfillment on the back end when you don't get the $200K per month sales job? It's a scam. Anyways, trying to build sick-ass part-time business gives me cash flow. Thumbs up. Yep.
Right there.
Scale Because of Sales, which is a sales newsletter. We made our second $100 on Because of Sales. Finally, I am maybe $20,000 deep. Into Because of Sales. We just made our second $100. Slow and steady. I promise I kind of know what I'm doing. But that's the video, you guys. Uh, if you want to work with me, get a remote sales job, shoot for that 5-figure commission month, do it from anywhere in the world. I just really believe we're the best at it. Please like the video, comment on the video if you learned something. Let me know what you learned. If you're trying that slider thing, let me know down below what you are putting on your sliders, and I'll see y'all next week.
