From seeking to creating $10,000/mo remote sales jobs in 2 years

Dylan Vergara went from chasing a $10,000/month remote sales job to building multiple positions paying that much for others through his agency and personal brand. He hires based on referrals and soft skills, fires fast when it doesn't work, and uses social media to attract talent. Partnerships and bandwidth are his main constraints.

What's up, YouTube? Check this out. Check this out. Crazy, isn't it? TikTok shop, $20 gimbal face tracking. I don't have a mic right now. I should maybe get a mic, but that's freaking crazy, right? See if maybe if I can show you guys. It's on selfie mode, but in the reflection I even have like a little light on the top. Anyways, that's, that's what we're on. Let me place this down so we can talk a little bit. I want to make a video on from seeking to creating. creating $10K per month jobs. I was running the numbers through my head and in the agency we have 4 or 5 people right now that are pacing over $10,000 per month in commission. One of them pacing, well, one of them $20K, one of them about $15K. And I wanna talk a little bit about that transition from when I was trying to make $10K per month to, you know, now I'm trying to create as many $10K per month jobs because I will inherently make more money from that. It's a win-win. But anyways, like getting into the space about 2 and a half years ago, I was in sales, I was doing fine. I was doing well actually. I knew it could be better, and I went into the remote space because I saw all these people talking about high-ticket closing and all this stuff. And let me see if I can turn this face tracking off. Oh, all right, hold on guys. All right, face tracking is off. I saw these people doing crazy stuff with remote closing, and so I jumped in with two feet, didn't look back. I'm not gonna tell the whole story on this video. That's not the point of it. But I think the market overall is more difficult to get into now. However, I'm sorry, the saturation of the market Saturation is a good thing. There are more competent people in this space than when I was getting into it. However, there are more resources available to make it easier for you, like communities and groups and networks and stuff like that. So if I can boil it down, like, if you want to— skilled, not skilled, resume, looking for your first sales job, doesn't matter— if you want to get to $10K per month as fast as possible in remote sales, you should be investing not even financially, investing with your time to meet people who are doing that. And by default, If you surround yourself with those people, you have an inherent interest in doing that. It's just a matter of time, really. I mean, that's what I've seen over and over and over again in my community and with my friends and people I know in this space. And so that's the biggest thing. I mean, I've helped like hundreds of sales reps get into this, and it always, you know, the guys that have the best luck for the longest amount, the best luck for the longest amount of time, just supremely connected. And usually the longer they're in this game, the better they get. They build a resume and then they just become undeniable. So anyways, moving on from from like when I was looking for a $10K per month job. There was a transition point where I started creating $10K per month jobs, and that was kind of like a natural evolution of a few things. The brand, so I have, you know, if you're watching this on YouTube, it's a personal brand. I've worked hard, invested money, time into that to grow it. And then the compounding of the resume, so being a closer, being a sales manager, and meeting people and doing good work and being referred. And it just kind of has snowballed into a lot of opportunities to the point where it's like, I can't do it all by myself. I can't manage all these things. I can't close all these deals. And so then we build teams. Now we're in the stage of like building teams, managing multiple teams, launching teams with like leads in place, like guys who are gonna close and manage, and then they're helping us there. And we're like really building out this fleet of like a freaking portfolio of like offers, management clients, and then like fast-paced recruiting and stuff like that. So when it comes to creating these $10K per month roles, again, we have I don't know if this was in this take or the last take, but we have like 4 to 5 guys around or over that $10K per month mark. When it comes to creating these, I was thinking about it, it's about the intersection of preparation, opportunity, and bandwidth. People always say luck is preparation and opportunity, but I've gotten to the point where I realize bandwidth is another thing because we've had people who are wanting to give us 25% of their company to manage sales, already have proven track record, and we've had to turn them down because we didn't have the bandwidth. So we like downsell, and we have kind of like a backlog of opportunity right now. So when I was trying to be a high-ticket closer, I didn't have any intention of starting a sales community. I didn't have any intention of starting a sales agency or managing multiple teams or recruiting all these salespeople and all that stuff. And so one thing that will accelerate that, whether you want to move from setter to closer, closer to manager, manager to business owner or whatever is your reputation. If you're not documenting on social media, you don't even have to be like an influencer or content creator. Just start posting somewhere. You could be anonymous. It doesn't matter. Reputation and then partnering. So when you think about it, if I have a resume from doing good work and there's someone else who has a complementary resume from doing good work and we partner up together, we've just Doubled the size of their resume, maybe more. And so in November, on the agency side of things, I partnered with someone who had an awesome resume in this space. And then about a month ago, we partnered with someone else. We're all kind of overseeing different things, but we've seen a really big influx in traffic and credibility and all these things because we all have different backgrounds. They're all notable in their own way. And then we bring that together. We have case studies and results and all this stuff and a perfect storm. So being good, because the guy that I partnered up with, his name's Cole, in November, We wouldn't have partnered up if I thought he had a bad reputation, he wasn't good, or he thought I had a bad reputation and I wasn't good, right? Same with Jake, the guy from last month. Super important. Actually, let me tell you about this story. We had a guy that we onboarded. If you're watching this, it's freaking rude. We had a guy that we onboarded, strong referral, started, worked one day as appointment setter, really good offer, like $6,000 to $8,000 per month, proven OTE. He just ghosted after the first day. After strong referral, we prioritize them for the role. It's like, dude, you're gonna burn a relationship with, you know, our entire agency, the sales reps, the owners, you know, people that are really, really connected in this space. That is one way to make sure that you are not getting where you want to be in this space and just like completely ghosting, which is strange, but part of the game. You know what, we already got a replacement. A couple days later, probably a better fit anyways. So anyways, reputation, you only have one of them. Don't be an idiot. Stick to your word. Be just like a decent, honorable person. The last thing I want to talk about in this video is hiring, because we've been hiring a lot of people, and I want to kind of just like break down where these people are coming from. So yeah, most of the people that we're hiring right now are— we've either worked with them before, or they're like really strong referral, or potentially like just personal brand. Uh, I would say 20 15 to 25% of the people that we're hiring in are cold application, maybe like kind of in the network but no referral, just like, hey, we know about them. But yeah, I mean, that just goes to show like we've hired— I don't have the most up-to-date count right now, but we've hired double-digit worth of people in the past 60 days. We hire fast, we fire fast. I know you're supposed to hire slow. We hire fast because once you do it a lot, you can kind of tell who's gonna work and who's not. And I'm still relatively early in this. So I'm not an expert, but this is— I am learning and I am sharing as I am learning with you guys. I might change my mind on this later, but once you know what you're looking for, for certain roles, like if I don't see that right away, probably not the guy that we're looking for, and I'm not gonna put a square peg in a round hole. I found that based on the role that we're hiring for, the stage of life that they're in is super important. Are they in the stage of life where they just came off a $20K per month closing role, they're burnt out because that company was scamming people, And they think high-ticket sales is a scam, but they have bills to pay. No, that's not the stage of life that you want, right? We just hired somebody today and he just graduated college, former athlete, and his stage of life is like, dude, I'm here to play offense. You know, like I'm early mid-20s, nothing better to do but make the most of my time financially and better myself. And we freaking love that, especially for like appointment setting. Appointment setting is not a skill-based role, it's an effort-based role. I can fix an appointment setting script, what you say on the call. I can't fix you disappearing in the middle of a Wednesday at 1 PM and then ghosting until Thursday when you had leads coming in. It's really about the stage of life that you're in. I'm not gonna hire someone who's in the wrong stage of life. Also, it's about soft skills. So someone who looks good, sounds good, communicates well, can answer questions directly without Running on or without being awkward and not sharing enough. There's a little bit of like social intelligence that if someone has that, they can learn really quick. Example, one of our appointment setters, he's had a lot on his plate. He quit his job to work with us here. He was a banker before, it was a good job. He's freaking crushing it because he had the social skills, but he had never been an appointment setter before. Stage of life is really important, and then the soft skills. If those are there, I'll take a chance on someone all day long. I don't care about their resume. Now the only time where a resume like really does get you in somewhere usually is with closing. It's usually like if you have a significant amount closed, like let's call it, I mean, at least over a million. $500K is, you know, depending on who you're talking to, but I talk to sales reps for a living, so I'm maybe I'm more jaded, but like at least over a million, over $2 million, I'm like, okay. You know, this is a serious guy, assuming you're not lying. So 2 and a half years ago, I was seeking a $10K per month job after quitting an in-home sales $10K per month job. The transition from seeking $10K per month to creating $10K per month did not happen on purpose. And once I realized it was happening or it was possible, you know, I did start to lean into it, but I had no intention of doing this. And that was just a combination of network, Reputation, preparation, doing good work, building my resume, and showing up every day. Showing up when it's hard, showing up when it's easy, doing the work when you don't want to do the work. Anyways, guys, that's, that's my rant. I'm gonna walk around. Oh, no face tracking. I turned that off. I'm not walking around, but TikTok shop, $20 gimbal. If you're looking for a sales job, join my sales community. It's down below. It's not free. It's not cheap.
