Dylan Vergara went from restaurant server to six figures in three years selling high-ticket roofs for $10-30k. He says the people skills that moved appetizers work just as well on expensive products, and service workers can hit six figures in one to two years by switching to commission sales.

Not even 3 years ago, I was working at a restaurant serving tables. This year, I'll clear bare minimum 6 figures on the year, and it is very likely that you can do this as well. Keep in mind, I was always a quiet kid, never ever ever thought I'd be a sales guy, somehow got into sales, and it quite literally changed my life. I'm not kidding. Now, if you're anything like myself, you probably have the skill set right now, even if it's never crossed your mind that you should get into sales. If you're a server, you're trying to upsell those appetizers, those desserts. Sodas, beers, all that stuff. You talk to people every single day. I'm saying this confidently because I was that kid in the restaurant trying to upsell the six dollar dessert at the end of the meal to get an extra couple bucks on the tip. Now the first sales job I ever landed in, I was selling roofs. Okay, ten thousand, twenty thousand, thirty thousand dollar roofs. You can sell something that's thirty thousand dollars versus something that is six. You can imagine how much more you'd get paid from that. The saying has stuck with me ever since I first heard it. It doesn't matter how you row the boat, but more importantly, what boat you're rowing in and who you're rowing with. So if you are a server or you're working in customer service and you're tapped at $50K, $60K, and you're working 60 hours a week, get into sales. Sell something more expensive, earn more because of it, and within a year or 2, your new baseline is going to be 6 figures. I promise you. And that's your message of the day. Take your existing skill set, put it in the right vehicle, and watch your life change forever.
