Life after going "all-in" on high-ticket sales (pretty realistic)

Diego made $35,000 in his first two months as a high-ticket sales closer after one 45-minute remote call funded a new skateboard. He and Dylan discuss the two main barriers to breaking in: sales experience and industry expertise, plus how tools like ChatGPT help closers work faster.

Gotta flick up. We gotta flick up in front of that little chump. It matches your outfit, bro.
Thumbnail.
Thumbnail. I got my mic. Diego, what are we doing right now?
About to go buy a skateboard, get a nice little fresh setup, you know, something light, quick little bust down.
Are you gonna get a complete?
Get a whole complete. Fresh board, fresh grip tape, fresh trucks, fresh wheels, fresh everything.
So do you have shoes?
These. I got my loafers, man. Stop playing, man. We gotta go with the old man shoes.
So we're getting him a skateboard. I used to grow up coming to this skate shop. I don't know if we're gonna film it, but I used to come here and be like, yeah, I want to move to Austin. Like, this is the place to be. It's a really popular skate shop, No Comply, in Austin, Texas. Diego's a retired appointment setter, and so he has a lot of time back. And so now that he's a closer, gonna get into skateboarding, or I don't know, we're just gonna do it Here for a day, for a morning. You got anything else right now?
Let's see if we can still land some kickflips or some tre flips, man. I'm gonna see if I still got it. I'm low-key unk status now, so we'll see how it goes. But, uh, let's get it.
Let's get it. All right, talk. You got a piff today.
Little Morning Glory. Woke up, had a coffee, can't complain.
So Diego had— Diego had one 45-minute call that paid for everything that's about to be purchased in this video. Shout out Remote Closing.
It's gonna be a nice little fresh setup, nice little Morning Glory. Ready to start the day. We're gonna hop in right here. I want these in black though, dude.
That's how you know I'm on too.
You guys don't even know if I have socks and they're just literally the top. Let's see if I can do a kickflip front board. Oh, first try! No, something light, something light. The cone ones, like the cone-shaped ones. Damn, bro, that's crazy. That's inflation right there. $74, it used to be $50 a pop. Clean though. My reward for the day, nice little piff skateboard action.
Bro's getting slimed out at the skate shop.
Gonna get a little bust-down setup. Got some shoes as well. We're just gonna burn that whole piff because we're gonna get another one soon, so Don't even worry about it. Should we do like a speed run? Just like, just go hecka fast and just try to set it up. Would it be like for something like this? Damn, Randy's feels great.
How many years has he been on this board?
Probably like 2 years.
I still have the same board from like 3 years ago.
Shout out to Surreal Sales. Now I'm able to pay rent and just skate. That's all I'm gonna do now, so.
What's it like being a sponsored skateboarder?
Pretty much wake up, take a 50-minute call, get paid, go buy a board.
Is it like you thought it'd be?
He hit him with the waka waka.
So far the technique is pretty spot on.
See if I can get that glide.
I got better fingers though, actually. Oh, new board feel.
Fresh board, let's go land some tricks. It's the fruit of your labors. Pretend like I'm a skater.
Bro got me with this nice Roger, set it up for me and everything.
$5 an hour to get them set up.
So, so I, I hired him and he started buying me gifts.
Hold this real quick. Let me see if I get it first try.
You're gonna hit a—
oh shit, dude, these boys are loose. Oh yeah, a little warm-up.
It's a little preview for you guys. You don't even know what you're about to see.
Let's see if you can get a first try kickflip. Nah, I can't. Come on, man.
Okay, okay, okay, back to back.
Let's see, kickflip or something.
Oh, those are way too loose.
Oh man, let's see, fresh out of the pool. They are loose. Damn, bro, I'm ass. Oh shit. All right, last one.
I got to play a game of skate.
Shit, that was horrible.
So y'all know I got a backpack on and No skate shoes, not my setup, so I'm trying to work magic right now. Hey yo, all right, one more try. Nah, tomorrow will be better when I got my, my shoes and board.
I'm about to land this first try. Hardest trick I've done. What's good, Lucas?
Brandon.
But, uh, I was laughing at my Instagram. Dylan just freaking womped me before my first meeting, so I'm thinking great.
Yeah, he, he responded and said, are longboards allowed? These calls are pretty much open floor. On this one in particular, we're spinning for our February giveaway, which is a mini fridge and some, some drinks. And then really just open floor, like jumping in, talking about Opportunities, roles that you're in, roles that you're feeling out, connecting with other people. And I've seen just through these calls, like, I've just seen a lot of people make one connection that serves them for the rest of the time in their, you know, in the high-ticket industry. And it's a pretty good spot to meet people. So that's kind of the idea here. We don't really have a preset agenda, so it's kind of like whoever has topic to dive into, get some feedback from me, get some feedback from each other. My last thing dressed up as a finance—
cool finance job, but it was financial sales. That's all it was. Yeah.
Because I was working on it part-time for a long time, went full-time, went all in for about 3 months.
My first 2 months I did $35,000 revenue for myself, but I mean, that's different because commission structure on that way, because I was using other people's products, I was kind of brokering.
I was getting paid 85% compared to 5% and 10%. Yeah, we've had some guys come in through like that niche, the financial sales, like financial services. And yeah, bro, it's all— it's just about how you position yourself and like how you can bridge the gap between what you have done and what you're looking to do. I'd say this all the time, but the 2 hurdles, it's like one, you need sales experience, but then 2, you need industry experience to be like top competitor for the top roles. And so you no doubt like you have sales experience, Then the case that you have to make if you want to go closer is you understand this industry. Because if they feel like you don't understand the industry and they have to onboard you into their offer, that onboarding is potentially twice as long. And for them, that's lost money. You just got to like show them that you kind of know how this space works. You know how like a fast one-call close sales cycle works. And then take a bunch of shots, to be honest.
Just like really present like you're very adaptable when it comes to like whatever you're doing, bro. You can learn on the fly. Like you got ChatGPT and like Just use that to your advantage. If you like don't know what the product is that you're selling, you can literally get a whole bullet point list if you just look it up on ChatGPT. Like there's so many tools out there, you don't need to know everything, you just need to be resourceful with what you have.
Yeah.
That stuff that really helps is ChatGPT. Nobody— people, not that many people use it, so.
I got— I do have the wheel right here, we can pull this up. John, you had the same number of entries as everybody else combined.
Plus 2.
34.
Yeah, I've got, I've got about a 41% chance of winning this.
41?
Okay, 41%.
John, if you win this, what drink are you putting in the fridge?
Oh man, I thought about this a lot. What am I not gonna put in that fridge? That's the better question. Probably some Monsters, honestly.
Zero sugar Monsters.
There you go, that's a pretty solid choice.
The white ones.
Yeah, right, spoken like a poet. That's fair. That or Mango Loco. I've heard that one's really good. I haven't tried it yet though.
I've not had that.
White Monster's a solid choice. Cool.
Um, so these are all the names. I know Sarith is on here. Nick, you're on here. Good amount of guys in here. All right, I'm gonna shuffle it. Yeah, we got 79 entries. I'm gonna shuffle it 20 times. Let's see, uh, let's see what we got here. No way.
Oh man, I need to go harder. That's all it means, dude. No matter what, it's always someone with one entry, dude.
It always hurts. It always is. That is—
that was like— was that literally— that only has one entry in there?
1.2% odds that— I think he only had one win.
I think he had one or two I swear he did.
All right, we gotta ask Noah what he's gonna put in the fridge now. Dude, I'm, I'm hurting for you, John, but 52 entries next time.
April's— April's coming up. You're gonna bring the fridge back.
Yeah, bring it back. Yeah, if you guys have ideas for— I just put— I did the mic and the boom arm because I think it's really— anyone can benefit unless you already have that, which most don't. We just did the standing desk, which We're getting to Angel headphones. Like, Nick Vaughn got the AirPod Maxes. Sweet. Then I'll catch you guys on Thursday if you can make the 10 AM Central.
See you, fellas.
Later, y'all.
Have a great week. Peace. Peace, dancers. Noah really won that. That's crazy. He had one entry. I'm like, bruh, dude, I honestly— I wanted him to get the fridge because—
I know, he showed up in the suit, bro.
Showed up in the suit, bro. He's already in the lawyer fit.
We got Noah Burton over here.
What, what are you—
what are you stocking the fridge with, Mr. Burton?
Um, probably Don Julio.
No, you can't. That's against the rules. What's your next choice?
Probably the Pedialyte, for sure, for after the Don Julio. Perfect.
Well, well said. What's up? Good morning. We got our coffee, we got our skateboards. We're at Gaylord Sackler Skatepark, no cap. It's actually called Gaylord Sackler. Me and Diego are, uh, kind of unk status. We used to skateboard a fair amount, and then we got into sales and grew up a little bit. But I don't, I don't really know, besides like doing some fun stuff for YouTube. We're just like, let's get, let's get a board, let's go, let's go shred. Uh, it's actually a really nice morning this morning.
Nice sunny day, coming out of retirement, a little fresh board. Probably make some money today too, but, uh, before that, do a nice little session.
So kind of like what we're planning on doing is skating a little bit, showing you guys how washed up we are, and then sharing some type of game on sales, business, talk about Diego's journey. Because like today, a year ago, he's in a different spot than he was. Like, actually, you didn't even know who I was in February of— in March of 2024. And now we're here. It's like you saw this. Did you see like an ad?
Like I saw from like YouTube.
Yeah, I was like seeing like the YouTube, went down, watched the interviews.
I mean, I was like, you know what, might as well just give it a try. It's better than a poke in the eye.
So stuff can change fast. Diego, I mean, retired appointment setter, so now he's closing on 2 offers, has a little bit more flexibility, can do things like this, which is cool.
Rolex and Lambo loading. Want more. Oh, oh, oh, all day, baby. All day.
So high-ticket sales, bro. Spit some game, Diego.
What do you have to say? See what, what kind of, what kind of game. Work hard, show up. You don't got to be the smartest, you just got to be able to work, outwork others. And, uh, if you don't know how to do something, get resourceful. Use your information that you got or people that you have Your network. For the most part, you can learn everything from the internet, bro, or just ask a homie. So just get out there and do some work, bro.
I don't really know how to tie this to high-ticket sales, but it does because we're both gonna lock in after this. We're gonna hit some high-ticket selling. But yeah, I mean, we talked about it earlier, but just like what— how different life can look if one, you commit to something, anything, but then also like If it's sales, like, sales is known to provide a pretty good opportunity if you get in the right role. So you're living a completely different life than you were this time last year, which is crazy to think about.
100%.
With people that you didn't even know.
Pretty cool. I met up with Tony, met up with Dylan. Now I'm skating at the skate park, drinking rosemary lattes. But everything can change pretty quick. Uh, just get into a good role, get connected with cool people. You're also having fun doing it, but also be serious about working as well. Like, everything looks cool, like everybody's out having their Rolex playing, but everybody's really getting to work off camera for the most part. As long as you kind of put your head down and actually get good at the skill that you're looking to make money with, you're always going to make money. So it's just about getting connected to the right people.
Yeah, there's definitely a lot of work. I mean, this—
we don't—
we're not pulling up to the skate park at 7:30 every day. I mean, this is the first time in a long time for, I think, both of us. Yeah, but I mean, most days they just look like Laptop, coffee, Google Meets, Zoom, some Slack notifications. Like, when you're really grinding at this, like, you can, you could be really locked in. Like, the role you just got out of, I mean, like, you were doing really well there, but it was a grind, you know? But like, now that you've done that, like, you have that under your belt, you can take that, go somewhere else with it. It's not, uh, it's not all skateboarding and rosemary lattes. It can be that sometimes.
Yeah, don't get me wrong, like, you do have autonomy. So that's the beauty of high ticket. You get to set your schedule. And then as long as you do work hard, you can play as well. Work hard, play hard. Just choose your schedule, just make sure you're balanced somewhat. But if you want to be schizo and just drink cold brew and do it, that's how I did it. That's how you got to do it if you want to kind of go hard. So you gotta lock in, lock in, man.
You gotta move somewhere where it's March 6th and the weather isn't garbage. Like, I could go short sleeve right now, it's beautiful out here.
So nice sunny day, touch grass. It's been 6 years since I've been outside.
Get to Austin, Texas. Join the Cereal Skating community.
Lock in, lock in, lock in, man.
