My online business failed and I lost $120,000

In this YouTube video Dylan Vergara walks viewers through a day in his life while reflecting on a recent business failure that cost him $120,000 in sales and $5,833 per month in refunds. He outlines how his community operates—detailing a structured schedule, event coordination, and a mentorship pipeline that helps members achieve $10K‑$25K months in remote high‑ticket sales. Dylan shares his productivity habits, including pen‑and‑paper mornings and a timer method for task execution, and stresses the critical role of reputation and keeping one’s word. He announces upcoming documentary‑style videos that will follow a veteran’s journey from zero to $10K in three months. The video also includes personal updates on his fitness routine, a live football commentary segment, and a rapid job‑placement story that illustrates the power of his community network. Throughout, Dylan balances candid discussion of failure with optimism about future successes and community growth.

We are remapping out the community schedule. This is pretty much complete. It's called a community, but we have a really structured process that each member goes through that we track so they come in and get the result that they're hoping in the time that they're hoping for it. So I'm trying to make a diagram that kind of like shows all of this. It's a work in progress. But right now, in 1 minute, I have a call with the homie Harrison Coley. He's gonna be my boy that helps me run the entire September event. So we're gonna coordinate that, make sure he has all the vendors' numbers, schedules, all this stuff so I can actually be present this time. And we're gonna talk about the Thursday night dinner, uh, for the people that are in town a day early. Last year we had a really awesome dinner, like private chef, steaks, mastermind, all that. So we're gonna talk about that right now. I got some wise words for you. The most important skill for becoming rich is becoming a perpetual learner. You have to know how to learn what you want to learn. Let that sink in. Wise words from this book. Shout out Jake JB for the recommendation. Working through it right now. Told you guys my last book got stolen, so we're back on track. Dude, having mornings where you read and use Pen and paper are way better than mornings where you just open up your laptop or open up your phone. Ran to get some coffee, read a little bit, wrote down some to-do stuff. Community live call in 20 minutes. Then right after that, I am editing and posting a YouTube video. And then I have a list of non-negotiables that I need to do today. I think if I just ruthlessly attack the list and do the timer thing— if you guys know the timer method, you write out the things that you're going to do and then time yourself for every single one. And you'd be surprised, man, like a list of 10 things, when you time every single one and then you cross it out and write the time, total that all up, it's like, dude, I've had this huge weight on my shoulder for all this stuff that I know needs to be done. You time yourself, complete all that, next thing you know, it only took 2 and a half hours to clear up what's been weighing on you for like 2 weeks. So I might hit the timer method today. One thing that's been top of mind is one thing that you can't really make good once it's gone bad is your reputation, and The weight that your words hold. I want you to think about this. Who in your life genuinely, not sometimes, not most times, every single time, they do what they say they're going to do when they say they're going to do it? Because that is so freaking rare. And even little stuff like you're on a call with someone and they say, oh yeah, I'm going to send you this after the call. Never hear from them, or you have to remind them. A superpower in today's world is being able to do every single thing you say you're going to do, even if it's Even if it's not that important, because your word is so powerful and the strength that your word has helps compound your relationships, opens you up to new relationships. So that's something I'm actively working at, only saying things that I 100% am going to back up. Like if I say I'm gonna send over an agreement after a call, I'm gonna send over the agreement. You guys should do that with me. I think it'll make you more likable. Last thing for now, I'm stoked to share this with you guys. So someone in our community who's absolutely ripping has a buddy who's been trying to get in. Military vet, wife and kids, moved him to the US, trying to get services for his kids that need them. We worked out a deal where he's gonna document his entire process going from zero to making it in this space. We're shooting for $10K, but more importantly, zero to like a decent income in this space, and we're gonna document the whole thing. So this is going to be a YouTube video that we're putting out. We're going to document where he started from, the entire process that he went through to get where he's gonna end up. I would really love to see him get to $10K in like 3 months. Is that swinging for the fences? Yeah, because $10K in 3 months is not normal. But as you've seen, people are doing it. Keep an eye out for that. It's going to be a longer YouTube video when it comes out, but we are currently going through the process. He's going through our community calls, uh, he's filming stuff on his own, and we're gonna weave it all together into a pretty awesome video for you guys so you can see The entire process, A through Z. I've been wanting to do this for a while. You see social media, it's a highlight reel. I wanna tell you guys about something that I haven't really spoken about. You see this screenshot right here? It says minus $5,833. Basically, for this entire year, I've been paying $5,833 into a business account that we shut down. Long story short, if you wanna have big wins, you gotta have big losses. You just wanna have bigger wins than losses. But here's a prime example of trying something that didn't work and paying the price. I partnered up with 2 people. We started a business in the social media niche and we scaled from zero to like $120K per month in paid ads. And we quickly realized, because potentially the partner that we had who was supposed to be kinda doing fulfillment, we quickly realized fulfillment was gonna be a lot more complicated than we thought. So we sold $120K of this service. cold traffic, stood up the company from scratch, and we were working, working, working, reinvesting, working, like providing the service, but we just weren't getting the results. And so it came to a point where we were like, do we keep spending more money deploying resources towards getting people results, or do we just refund the clients and call it quits because we got into a difficult business that we didn't fully understand? And that's what we did. However, we sold about $120K. By the time we made that decision to refund $120K, we had like $35K, maybe $40K left in the So we came out of our own pockets a lot of money to refund these clients in full. This is one of those things that I'm really proud to say. We just did the right thing. Like, we did the right thing. We made the hard choice. We definitely lost money, and I don't have any regrets. Like, business is trying and failing, and sometimes you win. And when you win, usually it's pretty good. Dude, if you're not having failures like this where you waste time, you waste money— or I don't even see it as a waste. You use— you lose time, you lose money, but you learn things. Like, I learned so much through this process. We started a company from scratch, ran paid traffic. There's a lot of lessons in that. So every month I've been sending $5,833 to a business bank account, and then a week later, a refund— me and my partner both— a refund triggers to each of the clients. And so we worked out a deal with them. We said, look, hey, We're in over our heads. We don't have all the capital available now to just refund you in full, but over the course of the next 12 months, even though this is not like any kind of contractual obligation, we're gonna send it back to you. And we did that. I feel really good about that. It's okay to fail. It's part of the game. It is really definitely a good test of character 'cause there's a lot of people I know that would've just like wrapped up shop and kept the money and gone into hiding. Like, nah, not a good character there. I just saw that payment go through recently, so it reminded me of that, but keep swinging, you guys. Now on the flip side, the business that is working for me, my community, the one that you guys probably know about, these people are freaking ripping, man. Later today I have an interview with Davin who did a $25K month while being in tech sales. That's happening in a few hours here. Then I have one with my boy Noah who owns a lighting business, does remote setting on the side, made $10K this month remote setting. Then I have an interview with my boy Robbie. These are all going to be put out on YouTube. I think he was like an engineer or something, not even a sales background. $10K per month setting. And then my guy Paul. Paul is a former like corporate sales guy. I think he has like 3 kids and he just hit his second $10K month. And so these are all going to be full-length interviews. It's probably 2 hours worth of combined one-on-one interviews. I've been posting screenshots on socials. Maybe I'll pop them up here when I'm editing. But this is undeniable, dude. We're talking about here— let me, let me break this down for you. We're talking about one of the oldest and most lucrative professions to ever exist, sales, in the medium that connects the entire world where everybody lives and breathes and spends their time, the internet. How, how does it not make sense that people are doing this? Sales job, internet. Just because these companies don't have 8 figures in funding, Silicon Valley, they are cash-flowing businesses that need sales reps. Like, if you're watching this and you're on the fence of like, hey, I don't know if high-ticket sales, remote closing, remote setting is legit, The act of selling things for internet businesses is legit. It's these people that say, I'm making $100K a month commission, but it's like course sales, or they have— they're like a kid in a freaking Lamborghini, or they just go viral and they're not the sharpest people. It makes you think, wow, is that what this industry is? And unfortunately, that's what a lot of people think because they get the most attention. Over the next really like 4 weeks, dude, I'm gonna be dripping out these interviews. A little high note to piggyback off the refund thing. I wasn't gonna film right now, but I just got off that interview with Deven. Tech SDR manager, I found out. $25K a month last month. He's gonna do about like $13K this month. A little bit of a down month. But I also found out he sells a trading offer and he is using the product himself. So he has the tech role, $90K base, I think he said. SDR manager, works 1 to 2 hours a day. Did $25K last month closing. He found this offer At our meetup last year. Go to thehighticketsalesmeetup.com and buy a ticket. He's gonna be there. I convinced him to buy a ticket. And then on top of that, W-2 income, high-ticket sales income, he's making over $10,000 a month with the product that he's selling as a user. High-ticket sales, good. That's just crazy, dude. Like, we have an interview from 2 years ago, $4.5K per month. Now he just did $25K. He probably took home almost $40K last month. Maybe more than 40K. I'm not, I'm not gonna do public math here, but you do the math. That's crazy. I'm done talking. All right guys, we're at the track and we got a tough workout. Shout out Honey Plus, sent me some of these, DM me on Instagram.
Not bad.
I'm gonna eat this before we start. Already did full day and we're hitting a drop set. Got the whole workout here, 1.1 mile at conversational pace. We're Which is 8:40. Then we got 0.75 miles at 7 minutes, 0.62 at 6:50, 0.5 at 6:40, 0.37 at 6:30, 0.25 at 6— I'm gonna have to cut this out. Got a little rest and then we're going faster. You know, when I started this running plan, to start with me, like meet me where I'm at. It asked me, what's your anticipated marathon time today? And I put the marathon time that I did last year when I was like peak training. So a lot of this training plan has been a little bit faster than I'm prepped for. And today I got a notification that said you need to slow your plan down. Said we recommend you change your time. I said no. So today I had 85% execution score. That's a B+, that's a passing grade.
Sweaty.
All right, tomorrow college football starts. Texas versus Ohio State. Gonna hang out with the boys.
I'm not gonna lie to you guys. First of all, Texas is down, so that's not ideal. Second of all, this is a boring-ass game.
It is third quarter.
There's 10 minutes left in the third. It's 7-0.
It's a pass game. Arch Manning has 22 yards passing.
Yeah, that's bad.
Bad.
Bro needs to step it up. I mean, Ohio State ain't doing any better. Run game is looking all right, but from a defensive standpoint, this game is fucking great. Hey, but we do got Bev though, so.
We got Bev on deck.
That boy went and got some Topo Chico from 7-Eleven. He got Bev.
Don't worry. All right, I don't know what the hell that—
Cooked the stream, man.
All right, camera back to me, man. So Friday at about 9 AM Central Standard Time, I got unfortunate news that I wasn't going to be working with the cybersecurity company. And I said, damn, man, that's the only W-2 job that I'll work ever again is in cybersecurity, right? So I'm like, hell yeah, man, it's gonna be sick. They tell me they don't want me. That happens at 9 AM Central Standard Time. By 11 AM Central Standard Time, I had texted maybe 3 or 4 people, yo, I'm back. And by 11:15 AM Central Standard Time, well-known face on the channel, aficionado of the Miami scene, he told me, yeah, man, just let me know. I'll send you the agreement right now. We'll hire you. It's the power of the community, man. It's the power of the network that you build. in this space, and that's the speed that this game moves with. Whoever you are on the other side of this camera, if you lost your job today, I guarantee that in 2 hours you would not have 4 other jobs where you can make between $8K to $12K a month. I guarantee it. Starting next week, you wouldn't be able to. And if you say that you could, you're lying.
That's the video, you guys. That's basically a quick recap of the last week, sending out the last payment of that big refund that we did, doing some reflection on that, working with all these dudes to land remote sales jobs. Trying to have hobbies outside of business and sales and all that. Running a little bit, watching some college football with the boys. And now we're here. I'm editing, about to post this in maybe an hour. If you guys are brand new here, just to recap, I've run a bunch of online businesses, but one that I've been running for a while now is a remote sales community. We help people land 1099 remote sales jobs. That's going to be the first link in the description if you're interested. Also, why is this guy putting him running in videos? I'm training for 4 marathons this year. I used to hate running. Now I don't hate it as much, but now I'm trying to get good at it. Because it's hard. It's one of the hardest things I've ever done. I love working at something that's hard. That's why that's in this video. You guys let me know what kind of content you want to see. I mean, I like making what we're making. Every Thursday we have something educational to help you land remote sales jobs or learn something about the space. Every Sunday we have kind of a recap of the last week, a little bit more of a peek into the business ownership side, working with these guys to get sales jobs. My life as an entrepreneur, as someone trying to be the best version of myself and just having fun with it. Oh, and by the way, next Thursday posting the interview with Davin, the tech seller who did $25K closing. While being a tech SDR, while making over $10K per month with the product that he sells himself. I do appreciate you watching. Don't forget to like, subscribe, comment. Stay tuned for that one. See y'all next week.
