Twelve Reasons You SHOULD NOT Try High-Ticket Sales

Dylan Vergara lists twelve reasons most people shouldn't pursue high-ticket sales: commission-only volatility, no corporate ladder, fierce competition, and the need for strong self-motivation and financial runway. He then flips it, naming the real upsides: high earning potential, low barriers to entry, and the ability to funnel clients into your own business.

Yo, new video. This one's a little bit different than some of the others on the channel. It's not because I'm under the weather and I'm sipping on bone broth here, but it's because we're talking about why you should stay away from high-ticket sales, like why you shouldn't do it. So I've got 12 reasons here, some bullet points we're going to go through, we're going to talk about them, and at the very end you might be able to see here we're going to talk about why I think it's worth it. If you're in the right position to do it. So first one, guys, probably the biggest is security. If you carry a significant amount of financial responsibility, so you have mortgage payment, car payment, debts, you got 3 kids, a lot of stuff like that. If you're the only source of household income, or you need You need benefits or you need a base pay. This is like the number one reason, and it's reason number one, but also the biggest as to why high-ticket sales would not be for you. So if you're needing security, don't do high-ticket sales first and foremost. Okay. Reason number 2. You can't handle volatility. So high-ticket sales, everything moves fast. The hiring, the firing, it's very quick. This is like the closest thing to starting your own business really without starting it. Also, the volatility can be due to the inbound nature. So if let's say they run Facebook ads and their Facebook ads account gets shut down, Your calendar is going to be pretty light. So there's going to be volatility. You know, the goal of myself and everyone that I work with is to minimize that as much as we can, but it's a part of high-ticket sales. Reason number 3 is you don't understand online education. You don't believe in it. You don't believe that it can actually help people. You don't believe that it's legit. You think everything online is a scam, which is like 2023, I don't know how people still believe that, but there are. And if you aren't open to learning outside of traditional means yourself, you're probably not gonna have much conviction in this, whether you're selling a coaching program, education, or a service. So you need to kind of be in tune with the online education high-ticket space. To really be an attractive candidate for these employers. Reason number 4, competition's fierce, guys. I mean, this is 100% commission work in a lot of cases. If you want to make 10 grand a month in commission, you have to be better than a lot of people. Like, you have to be good at sales. So just like everything in life, there's going to be people who will not make it. But in a traditional job, not making it, you could still earn $40K, $50K a year salary, right? In high-ticket sales, not making it is— well, it's either very little or it's nothing. So gotta be good. Number 5, you aren't looking to play offense. And this is just like sales in general, right? Sales is not for everybody. You do have to be a go-getter to do well in sales, especially in high-ticket sales. You got to take initiative and you have to overcome problems as they arise. It's not as black and white as most people would like it to be. Same with entrepreneurship. So you've got to take bets on yourself. Number 6, you want to climb the corporate ladder. And I don't mean that in like some You know, frowned upon way. But like, if your goal is to just work your way up into some massive company and like be cozy in 20 years, you're not really gonna do that in high-ticket sales. Okay? These teams are very, you know, usually very lean, tight-knit. You can move up to management, but you know, a lot of times the next step is to open your own offer, right? Or build your own team or go provide a service. So you're not— it's not like you're gonna work with a company that's got 3,000 employees and stay there for more than half your life. Like, it doesn't really exist here. That's what you're after, high-ticket sales, not for you. Reason number 7, you don't have any financial runway. So if you live with your parents and you pay for literally nothing, Or you have like some big cash reserves that you're sitting on, cool, that's ideal. But at minimum, I'd really recommend having 3 to 6 months of living expenses saved before you go all in with high-ticket sales, meaning you quit your other job, right? You can absolutely do it part-time to start. As soon as you get a little bit of proof of concept, that's when I'd recommend you jump in and, you know, pay it the attention. That it requires to get the full, full result. The odds of you making $10K, $20K a month closing in your first 1 to 2 months are very slim. I would even go as far to underline that, they're very slim. So if you're leaving a job where you're making a lot of money and you got crazy living expenses but not much saved, like, even if you're really good, you're not going to come in and make $20 grand a month, month 1. So high-ticket sales is becoming more— the market is becoming more sophisticated. There are people in high-ticket sales who are getting results, making the barrier to entry just a little bit higher than let's call it 2 or 3 years ago. Reason number 8, you want someone to tell you exactly what to do and when to do it. So just like entrepreneurship, I mean, you can have people help you out and give you advice, but you're gonna find yourself in a lot of situations where it's like, ah, should I do this? Is this good? I'm not sure if this is the exact opportunity for me. I mean, it's, it's very gray. So you have to be able, you have to be able to problem solve. And everyone's path to success in high-ticket sales looks different. So there's, you know, unfortunately there's no like very clear path that you need to follow. There is a path and it, you know, you might have to veer off to the side and jump a couple hurdles and all this stuff to get where you want to be. But generally speaking, like you are going to have to figure it out. Okay. Reason number 9. Number 9, I'm sorry. You have no interest in helping people. So if you want to make a lot of money in high-ticket sales for longer than like 2, 3 months, you have to be good and you have to sell good things. Okay, you have to sell products that actually help people, not short-lived ones, and you, you have to be making a difference, right? I know guys that, you know, have worked for some, some big names in the space that weren't doing good business, and I know other guys that I've been working for 6 years on the same company. So if you want to sleep well at night, make sure you're selling something good, something that actually helps, something that gets people results. Reason number 10, you can't be productive without someone managing you. In some of these teams, you will have a sales manager. On others, you won't, especially the smaller ones. So there's nobody that's really gonna like Force you to get out of bed in the morning. You know, you got to be productive on your own. If you can't be, you will struggle. And this is again why problem solving is important. There's there's no manager to save you, right? So you got to be self motivated. Reason number eleven: You don't believe in the power of network and everything else that I've done up to or up to this point where I got into high ticket sales. Like I didn't believe in network. I was like, ah. I don't need to meet more people. I already have friends, right? But in high-ticket sales, this is everything. You've probably heard it. You've probably heard it from me a few times over now if you've watched any of my videos. But anybody who's doing okay in high-ticket sales knows other people in high-ticket sales. The lone wolf thing, I'm not saying it doesn't work. It's just gonna take you way longer to get where you wanna be. The best jobs come through people that you know, not Facebook groups, not hiring platforms. Okay. And with the underground nature, you know, I just said it, but this is my top priority and recommendation for newcomers. So the network, who you know, it's not even about knowing people that are ahead of you, knowing people that are in the same spot, like having people come up or having people to come up with. Very valuable. Last one here, guys. You aren't comfortable taking bets on yourself. I kind of touched on this earlier, but it's very similar to starting your own business. You must believe that you're capable of doing so. You must be able to handle the highs and the lows. If it were easy, everybody would do it. So it's definitely not the case. I've seen a lot of guys come in I've seen guys come in who I didn't think were gonna make it, and then they come in and crush it. And I've seen the other way around too. Guys that come in, they looked great, but they just didn't put in the work. They didn't meet the right people. They didn't show up and apply to jobs and do all that stuff. And then they end up back in the job that they were at before or something like that. So you are taking a bet on yourself. Save up your cash. Yeah, and these are the reasons why I think high-ticket sales is not for everyone. Again, reason number 1 is the top one. If you're a young person where your financial responsibility is low right now, it's not gonna be like that forever. And that's why I got into high-ticket sales when I did because I realized that and I wanted to play offense, not defense. So You're probably waiting to see why it's worth it, right? In my opinion, this is very dependent on the situation that you are currently in, but reasons it's worth it: earning potential. You can come in and make 6 figures in your first year, okay? There's a lot of other things you can do that in, but they don't all offer the same benefits that we're about to go through as high-ticket sales does. It's pretty low barrier to entry. It's a level playing field. It truly is about who wants it more. You don't need a degree, don't need certifications. So this is good, especially for you younger guys or those with no sales experience. One of the most attractive parts of high-ticket sales for me and a lot of others is the flexibility, freedom, ability to travel because you're a contractor, right? Like you are your own boss in a lot of cases. You can be part-time alongside other endeavors, which is also another attractive part. I have a lot of friends who run agencies, who are in e-commerce, who have another job and they do this on the side. Like I know multiple guys in professional, like engineers, tech, tech sales, who do this on the side and they make like just as much doing this as they do at their main job. So you can work with companies across the globe. So for any of you guys, if you're in Europe, South America, Australia, Even Canada, right? You traditionally couldn't work with US companies, or, you know, other way around, US people couldn't work with UK companies because of like W-2 and employment laws. As a contractor, you can work with anybody anywhere, which is a huge plus. And if your, your currency is not as strong as the US dollar, you can make a lot of money. Contractor benefits. So you really, I mean, going back to like flexibility, delivering the service, like you can kind of do what you want when you want, as long as you get results. That was very attractive to me. There's tax incentives, write-offs, you know, education, uh, the camera that I'm looking into, the laptop that I'm using, this mic, all this stuff. You have your own entity, you file it off, you pay less taxes, and you get this stuff for free, basically. You can save some money when you're a contractor. You can learn complementary skills. So let's say your goal is to like start an agency, right? Well, you could go sell for an agency and you will probably get to learn how to do the thing that they do very well. Or if you want to get into marketing, Right? If you get in with a lean team and then they're having troubles with their front-end marketing, like, lend them a hand. So again, these are small teams, they're tight-knit, and it's very easy for you to pick up complementary skills alongside sales itself. You get to meet a lot of online business owners. Since I got into high-ticket sales, I've like just like insanely grown my network with people who are doing doing something similar to me, which is like online sales, growing an online business, people who live that like laptop nomad lifestyle sometimes. So meeting a lot of other like-minded people who can open doors for you, make intros, help teach you these complementary skills, very valuable. Access to the knowledge and courses you sell. So like again, if you want to learn how to do Google Ads and you go sell for a Google Ads agency, Easy, easy. If you want to go learn how to flip houses and you're selling a real estate program that teaches people how to flip houses, go sell for that. You will get access to the program in most cases. Okay, I know somebody actually, an appointment setter who came in, was working a real estate offer, and through what he learned and through the connections in there, he flipped— I'm sorry, he wholesaled a house and made like $10,000 in commissions. His name is Marco. I have an interview with him on the channel. It's like 20 minutes long. It's legit. You can also be a funnel for your own business. So like, I know some people that do this personally. They sell for like an agency coaching program, and then the agencies get in there and they start getting more business, and then they're like, oh, now I need a sales rep. And you're in there, so like maybe you run a sales agency and it's like, oh, now you need a sales rep? Like, I will connect you with sales reps. There's a lot of other variations of this, but I've seen this with a few different types of people, not always sales, but that's basically it, guys. I mean, there's probably more reasons as to why not to do it, and there's more that I think justify you doing it than what's listed here, but I kind of just threw this stuff on here. It felt complete, so I hit record, and here we are. All this being said, you guys, high-ticket sales, it's not for everybody. But if this stuff looks good to you and you've seen what's possible, if you're watching, if you've watched this far into the YouTube video, you know what's possible in high-ticket sales. Maybe you're on the fence. I was on the fence too. Um, but this is all legit, guys. I mean, my biggest thing is just setting the right expectations for everybody that comes in. And, you know, that's how you make people happy and help people get good results. So if you want help making all this stuff up here easier, accelerating all these results, and just getting connected to the best jobs, people, recruiters, stuff in the space, serialsalescommunity.co. It's a school group that I run. It's a paid school group that I run. Just this week alone, hopefully when I switch here you guys can see it. I actually, this was in the past 48 hours. We had 1, 2, 3, 4 appointment setter roles, 1 closing role. This guy's hiring 2 setters. And one closer. And these roles all came directly to me, all 3 through Twitter, 3 of these messages through Twitter, one through iMessage right here, and they go straight to the group. I can't take all these roles. If I could, I would. They go straight to the group. That alongside what other members are bringing in, guys, it's hard not to make it work. once you're inside. So if you want to hop in, zerosalescommunity.co. Otherwise, check out all the other videos on your YouTube or on my YouTube. You can absolutely do this on your own.
