Hey, this is Dr. Toury with influence Everywhere. I just want to go over a super awesome tip for improving your relationships with others and improving rapport in general. It's. Whenever you have sort of a perceived moment of downtime, you might be waiting by an elevator, you might be sitting in a lobby somewhere, you might be between classes or between meetings or something, and you just have this moment of downtime. Here's what I recommend. Now, normally I would not recommend picking up a phone or anything like that, but in this case, I do. Pick up your phone, scroll through the contacts, find somebody you haven't thought of in a while, think about them, reflect on them for a moment, just a moment, think about something they've done or an experience you've had together and then shoot them a message. Just send a text or a WhatsApp message or wherever. However you message them, message them and just say, hey, you know what? I was thinking about you and I just wanted to reach out and say, I hope you and your family are well and I just want to let you know how much you're appreciated. Or I just want to let you know how much I really loved that XYZ experience or when that, that time that you, you know, helped me with xyz. So just go ahead, reach out. You know, what's, you know, it's amazing. So sometimes I'll do this, like, you know, especially while traveling, it's really a great time to do that because you're not distracted by anything else that's going on in the day to day. So while you're traveling, if you scroll through messages, just start messaging people and saying, hey, I'm thinking about you. You really are thinking about them, by the way, because you saw them in the context. Take a moment of reflection when you send it. You know what happens? About two thirds of the time they message you back saying, you don't know how much I needed that right now. It came at the perfect time. Or, wow, I can't believe you were thinking of me. I was thinking of you too. Incredible stuff happens. And then you have another connection and it's just, it makes life richer. And that's where you're going to find the richness. You're going to find the richness between people, between people with connection. And so go ahead, just shoot a message. Like, think about somebody and let them know. And particularly those you haven't reached out to in a long time, or especially those you have been hesitant to reach out to. I'm telling you, those moments when you're sitting in front of an email or a text where you're pausing before you send it. If it's a positive message and you're worried about how they're going to perceive it or whatever, do the right thing. Send it. Send it.
