Here's another quick video from productivitypearls.com My name is Dr. Torrey. I want to tell you a little bit about goals. I get asked all the time about goals, and a lot of people think, well, productivity, it's all about setting goals. It is not all about setting goals. The goals actually are. Sometimes they trip people up. So this tip for today is all about how to not trip over your goals. One of the things that people tend to do is they tend to focus on their goals so much that they miss the steps in getting there. So your tip for today is, once you look up at your goal, whatever your goal is, whatever you've set for yourself, ask yourself, what are the steps and the chunks that I need to do or be or engage in to reach that goal? That's where you focus. You focus on the steps to get to the goal. You don't focus on the goal. So all this stuff about visualizing and all that, that's great. Visualizing is good. In fact, it's great for the subconscious mind. But you don't just visualize the goal. You visualize the action. Visualize you doing the action, enjoying the action, getting the most out of it, being the most impactful and productive with that action. It's really important to choose the right action, not just the right goal. A lot of people just keep looking at their goal, looking at their goal, looking at their goal, and then they get down and depressed or upset or anxious because they're not achieving their goal. Well, you're not achieving your goal because you're not taking the steps to get there. There are countless proverbs that discuss this, that a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step and all these sort of things. There's a lot of wisdom there. The wisdom contained in there is that you have to do something. You have to take those steps. So if you have goals well established, start there, but chunk backwards. What is it that you need to do to move towards those goals? And even if you don't know all the steps, that's okay, because motion is what's important here. Moving to towards your goal is what's important. Because actually, the process of taking those steps helps you along the way. First of all, objects in motion tend to stay in motion, right? So your own movement towards your goal will keep you moving towards your goal. It will make it more likely that you keep moving towards your goal. Two, along the way, you learn, you learn, you adjust, you tweak. So getting to your goal is not just a straight line, and it's not just about visualizing and waiting for everything to happen. No, you got to take those steps. So your task today from ProductivityPearls.com is to Chunk your goals down into action steps. And take that first one, Take that first one. Take the best one. That will give you quick results, even if those results are just internal. You've got to get started, and the only way to get started is to start. It's that simple. So chunk your goal down, or at least ask yourself, what are the first two or three steps that I need to take to move towards my goal? Just to get in motion. That is the point. Get into motion towards your goal. All right, so that's your task for today. Chunk it down and look at the first couple steps and take it. Take that first step. That's it for ProductivityPearls.com.
