Emanuel Ruiz outlines tax strategies for selling an Amazon FBA business. He describes buying a vehicle over 6,000 lbs to expense immediately, using cost-segregation on investment property to accelerate deductions, and investing in other businesses. These are legal ways to offset the lump-sum proceeds and pay zero in taxes.

So I'm in the process of selling my business, and I've met with a lot of tax accountants, uh, CPAs, to kind of see when I do get this lump sum of money, what can I do to offset my taxes? And there's always been this misconception that the rich don't pay their fair share in taxes, but they don't really understand the tax code and how it's written because there's a lot of different things that an individual can do to offset his taxes As long as he's doing exactly what the government wants him to do. So for example, when I get this lump sum of money, I have a choice. I can either pay close to 40 to 50% in just taxes for both federal and state, or the government has allowed me to go ahead and offset some of these taxes by doing some of the following, right? I either purchase a vehicle that's over 6,000 pounds. And I'm able to offset that full purchase price the very first year as long as I'm using it for business. Number 2 is I can go out there and buy an investment property. From that investment property, I do a cost segregation study and I'm able to offset a percentage of my taxes. I can't obviously offset the full amount. Number 3 is I can go ahead and invest into businesses and I can go ahead and offset some of those taxes that way. So what are these 3 tax codes actually doing? Well, it's allowing me to invest into stimulating the economy. You see, if I go ahead and purchase an investment property, not only am I helping with the realtor making the fees, the escrow companies making the fees, the title companies making the fees, whatever, I'm stimulating that economy. Same thing with purchasing a car. Same thing with investing into businesses, right? So if you understand these tax codes and use them to your advantage, You can basically have all these assets being purchased instead of paying the government, and it's okay in the government's book. So that's one thing I didn't really realize, um, before selling this business, that there are so many different things that the government allows you to do to offset your taxes as long as you continue to stimulate the economy.
