I just bought an Amazon FBA business.....

Iman Los Angeles bought Maverick, a $240k Amazon FBA fitness gear business, betting that a market downturn creates opportunity. He plans to cut shipping costs, lower unit prices, and boost ad spend to improve margins. He negotiated the price down to a 24-30x multiple with a 12-month payment plan.

So I actually purchased an Amazon FBA business and I am excited as ever. And later on this video, I'm going to show you the exact Amazon FBA business that I actually went ahead and purchased. But first things first, for all the YouTubers that have been saying and screaming from the rooftops that the business model like Amazon FBA is dead, well, I'm putting my money where my mouth is and letting you know that this is far from the truth. And for those of you guys that don't know what Amazon FBA is, Well, this is the process of you shipping your actual items into an Amazon FBA warehouse, and from there Amazon fulfills the order for you without having to store, pick, pack, and ship the item to the customer yourself. And there's a variety of different types of business model with Amazon FBA, but the one that I focus on and what I purchased the business for is a private label brand. And a private label business is basically taking an existing product that already sells in the market and you changing the name, maybe the features, maybe the packaging, and market it to people that might fall in love with your actual brand. And the thing is that branding and private label go hand in hand in today's type of environment. Because the perfect example is something like Starbucks, where a customer has hundreds of different coffee shops to choose from, but they continually go to Starbucks to buy their coffee. The same thing with actual cell phones. There's so many different types of cell phone companies, but why do people continue to go back to Apple? And in the future of Amazon FBA, FBA, if you're not branding and coming out with private label products that a customer can go ahead and repurchase over and over and over again, you're going to struggle with Amazon FBA. You have to figure out why people choose Apple, why people use Starbucks, and try and use those techniques that those companies are using and implement it within your own private label business. And if this is your first time watching one of my YouTube videos, my name is Iman Los Angeles and I am an Amazon FBA seller for a little under 4 years now. And if you know anything about this YouTube channel is that I'm very transparent. Over the last 1 year on Amazon FBA, in one of my accounts, I have made over $1 million worth of revenue. Obviously revenue does not equal profit, but I am very transparent as far as the items that I currently sell. This particular account is my shoe care kits, which is Factory Lace, that you can go ahead and search up on Amazon yourself. But I think the biggest thing that separates me and a lot of YouTubers is that I also talk about my failures. And right now I'm having a tough time getting more and more sales from my other brand, which is Smooths, which is a daily face moisturizer and eye cream for men. But that's the reason why I made this YouTube channel, is to be as transparent as possible. And to tell you the truth, this might be the toughest time to start Amazon FBA. And the reason why I say this is because we're starting to see trends that e-commerce demand and sales are starting to have a decline. And year over year, we're not seeing the same level of demand e-commerce once had. And a result of that is that a bunch of Amazon FBA aggregators are either laying off staff or going out of business entirely. And we even see some Amazon FBA aggregators stop purchasing businesses, which is bringing a lot of demand down for you to sell your actual Amazon FBA business. And if you're a current Amazon FBA seller, you see that Amazon PPC costs are more than ever before. You see that gas prices are affecting how much we pay in FBA fees, where Amazon is increasing fulfillment costs for us, and there seems to be no end in sight, and our profit margins are getting lower and lower. And it's concerning a lot of Amazon FBA sellers. But as Warren Buffett has said in the past, when there is blood on the streets, it's the perfect opportunity to go ahead and buy assets that you know are undervalued. And that's exactly what I'm doing with purchasing Amazon FBA businesses at this time. And the moment you guys have been waiting for— what is the Amazon FBA business that you purchased? And here it is. It's actually a brand called Maverick, and they sell a bunch of different products in the fitness industry that range from this weighted vest that I have on right now to other running chest packs, bags, and also vests and different types of gym bags as well. And the first question you guys might be asking yourself is, why did you pick this particular business? And the obvious answer here is that I felt that this business was very undervalued. And that's because every Monday morning I go onto Empire Flippers and I check what new listings do they have for sale. And if you guys don't know what Empire Flippers is, is that they are a marketplace that specializes in buying and selling Amazon FBA businesses. And if you guys want more information on Empire Flippers, I'll go ahead and make sure to leave their link in the comments below, but I'll also have it in my description itself. But taking you through the different types of listings, you can see that Empire Flippers has 211 available listings. But let's go ahead and go to mine that I went ahead and purchased, right? Because that's the most important part here. So let's go ahead and check that out, which is right over here. As you can see, it's in the health and fitness, and it was for sale for $240,000, and their monthly multiple was at 40x, meaning whatever they are making per month, if I changed nothing to the business, I can expect to get my money back in around 40 months. And whenever I'm considering purchasing an Amazon FBA business, they have to hit these 4 checklists. The first one is, is this actual product brandable? Can I build an audience around this? Well, being a type of product in the fitness industry, you know that people that purchase this product are very enthusiastic about what they go ahead and purchase, which it checks off the checklist. The second one is, does it have a reasonable multiple? And at 40 times multiple, it is reasonably priced to go ahead and purchase this business. And the last 2, one of them is, is there a way for me to go ahead and increase profit margins right off from the start? And we'll go and dive into that. And then the last one is, what can I do to increase sales from day one? So to check off that 3rd checklist of increasing profit margin, I noticed that this business would airship a lot of their inventory. And by just simply going ahead and doing sea shipping, I can save 90% of the cost. So right there, I can go ahead and save and make more profit margin. But on top of that, I also noticed that they had very minimal order quantities. So instead of going ahead and just ordering 200 or 300 at a time, I can negotiate with the supplier to bring down costs if I order 1,000 or 2,000 units at a time. So right there, I know that I can increase profit margin. So the 4th checklist, how can I increase sales right away? Well, I noticed that this particular product here, or this brand particularly here, they ran out of advertising budget by 11 AM on their best-selling type of campaign. So I know by just going ahead and increasing and fine-tuning advertising, I know that I can increase sales. But on top of that, they did not have enhanced brand content, meaning that they didn't utilize all the A+ content they could actually have on their listing page. So now I can add pictures, videos to the listing page, and I can also run more SEO that's going to help me with Amazon search algorithm. And the cherry on top for this particular business here is that I felt like I was the only buyer that was interested in this type of business. And instead of going ahead and paying around 40 times monthly multiple, I was able to get this deal for right around 24 to 30 times multiple. And on top of that, I was able to structure a monthly payment plan. So over the next 12 months, as I'm getting paid from Amazon, I could go ahead and pay the seller as well. So it was a win-win-win in my checklist. And if you have any dry powder right now, meaning money in the bank, I think that purchasing Amazon FBA businesses is a huge opportunity these next 6 to 12 months. And in next week's video, I'm going to take a deep dive, go into my Empire Flippers account and see what I went ahead and searched up and analyzed in this actual business for me to think that this was a very profitable and good-looking business to purchase. So if you are not subscribed yet and you're interested at all in purchasing Amazon FBA business, I highly recommend subscribing to this YouTube channel because based on my experience now purchasing this business, I have a lot of content to go ahead and bring to you guys. And I'm hoping to actually have the seller come on in one of these videos and explain the entire process of getting your business ready to sell and how to go ahead and maximize the actual purchase price for your business. So again, if you got any value out of today's video, all I ask for in return is a like on this video, because as a small YouTuber, that's really the only way I know how to grow. But what are your thoughts here? Have you ever been interested in purchasing an Amazon FBA business? I would love to hear it in the comments below. But until next time, guys, peace.
