Amazon FBA margins come from solving specific pain points, not search volume. A generic robot vacuum attracts price shoppers and brutal competition. But a vacuum-mop hybrid for tile floors targets someone willing to pay more because you're solving their exact problem.

I always say that the margin in your Amazon FBA product is in the pain point. And let me give you an example, a perfect one here. So if somebody is typing in robot vacuum on Amazon, you're going to see that they probably have like 300,000 monthly searches, which is great. There's a bunch of different types of search volume there in order for you to go ahead and carve up some space. But someone that's typing in robot vacuum is in the beginning stages of their searches, meaning that they don't have a high enough pain point. They're probably just looking at a basic robot vacuum to go ahead and purchase. And usually that means that they're looking for the cheapest type of product. And when they're looking for the cheapest type of product, think about your competition, right? It's going to be people from China that are able to go ahead and source their product at the cheapest price possible. But let's say I've already purchased that robot vacuum and that robot vacuum suck because I went ahead and purchased the cheapest one. Well, now I have a higher pain point. And I used the example on a coaching call today that said, look, I have tile floors, right? Like my whole house is full of tile floors that look like this wood, right? So not only do I need a vacuum, I need a vacuum with also a mop, but also a mop that works on specifically tile floors. So even though I'm going ahead and searching up something very specific. I have higher intent, and now I'm only looking for actual vacuums and mops that fit my pain point, which is being able to mop and vacuum tile flooring. So now I'm going ahead and making sure that any listing that I'm looking at touches on my specific pain point. And what does that mean? I'm no longer looking for the cheapest one. So anybody who's targeting me has a higher margin, higher buyer intent, and more than likely is going to make way more money than someone that's just looking at the basic level type of product. So always keep that in mind.
