An Amazon seller keeps inventory in multiple locations (garage, 3PL, China, manufacturer) to work around Amazon's Q4 intake caps and avoid stockouts. This strategy let them scale from 30-40 to over 100 units daily and snag Amazon's Choice badges without losing sales to shipping delays.

These are the most dreaded days on Amazon FBA, and that is getting all of this inventory ready for UPS to pick up. So obviously I'm kidding, this is actually good news. Um, that means that our products are selling through very quickly, that I have to go ahead and just rush ship these into Amazon. But why do I have stuff in my garage? Why don't I just ship it into Amazon FBA directly from China, right? Well, during Q4, Amazon put restrictions on how much item or inventory I can have their fulfillment center. So our best-selling item, instead of keeping it in China, I decided to have at least 4 pallets delivered to my garage. Why? Well, I know 2020 happened, and when 2020 happened, everything around the world got shut down. So I guess I have PTSD for that reason. So what I like to do is, for just-in-case reasons, I have our best sellers, which in this case, it really paid off because we went from selling 30, 40 units per day to selling 100 units per day of this actual one product, which again, it's crazy to see, but that's how quickly Amazon can change. You can get Amazon's Best Choice badge, right? Amazon's Choice badge on a certain keyword. You can get a bestseller badge. And if you don't have inventory supply chain in order for those best case scenarios, all that momentum is for nothing. So always have inventory in China, Have inventory in your garage, have inventory in a 3PL, and have inventory anywhere else, even if that means that being in your manufacturer's warehouse.
