MODULE 13: Intro to Linkedin

A 2025 YouTube training module teaching business owners how to use LinkedIn to build authority, network with decision‑makers, and generate leads. Covers profile optimization (banner, headline, About as a mini sales page with CTA), three content types to post (story, value, demand), engagement strategies (daily system of engaging 10 large and 3 smaller profiles then posting once), common mistakes to avoid, and a short client case showing quick results without paid ads.
LinkedIn is one of the most underutilized tool as a business owner, and LinkedIn is a gold mine. So if you're here and thinking, how can I start using LinkedIn? Instagram is not really where my ideal clients are. You know that your ideal client hangs out on LinkedIn. They have the money, they have the authority, they have the need for what you do. LinkedIn is already going to help you connect with them. Because we can search for a lot of things that we can't search for on Instagram. We can look at title seniority, businesses that they're working at, companies that they're working at. And what we want to be thinking about is which platforms are your clients hanging out on and actually which platforms have the highest organic reach. And actually LinkedIn has the highest organic reach of any social platform in 2025. There's corporate women, there's executives, there's. There's decision makers who are literally looking for solutions daily. So before we talk like content and strategy, we need to stop thinking of LinkedIn just as a place to find a job or to post our CV or just to be seen as a, as someone who's looking for a job. What we need to be thinking about is the old LinkedIn, as I said, is digital resumes listing tasks and titles and just achievements. And the new LinkedIn and the way that it's moving is thought leadership. It is a platform that builds demand for your expertise. There's decision makers who are hiring people who are leading conversations. It's not just a place to share our skills. So you don't need a massive audience. Which is the great thing about LinkedIn is you can start connecting with people, you can start engaging with people. So there are a few things that I want to talk about when it comes to LinkedIn. So if you haven't seen LinkedIn before or this is something that you're very, very new to, I want to share with you what LinkedIn looks like. Okay, so there are a few things that we need to have a look at. First thing we need to have a look at is magnetizing your profile. So thinking about your banner. When someone comes to your page, what are they seeing in terms of your banner, right? Are they saying, wow, this person can help me. Wow, I know what they do. We then want to be thinking about what the headline is. So, for example, what is it that you do? Who is it that you serve? Then we want to go down to the kind of about page and actually think about what is it that we are offering, right? It's a mini sales page. We need to speak to their pain, their dream outcome, show them proof, have a call to action. And then we want to have a really, really clear call to action button here. Okay, so when we're thinking about what we want to do on LinkedIn, there's a few different things. There's a few different types of content that we can post and a few different ways that we can engage. So the first thing as I said, is content that we're going to ourselves and that all sits down here. There's also ways that we can engage with people. So for example, if I wanted to search for a founder, I could go and search for a founder and click people and start looking at founders. What I can then do is start engaging with their content. So LinkedIn is very, very much focused on connection, on building real connection, on networking. And the cool thing is is you can comment on other people's and show up on their feed even if you're not connected with other people. So if I was Starting to use LinkedIn again, what I would start thinking about is who am I engaging with, how am I engaging and what's the type of content that I'm posting. So I would be starting by thinking about magnetizing my profile. The second thing I'm thinking about is these three types of content that we want to post. Okay, so the three types of content that we want to post first of all is story post. So sharing transformational journeys of you, of your clients. We start want to create that emotional buy in, right? We want to start positioning you as an authority, as someone who can get those results. The second kind of post post that we want to create in the content that's going to start converting is value posts. So this is showing your thought leadership, breaking myths quick wins again. Positioning yourself as an expert. And the final piece that we want to think about is like demand posts. So that is bold truths that get. Oh my God. Hell yeah. Wow, this is amazing. For example, the kind of things that I post on LinkedIn are very polarizing beliefs about a 9 to 5 around freedom, around entrepreneurship. The key rule to successful posts and content is not just posting for likes, but start posting for lead. When it comes to LinkedIn, there are a few mistakes that people really make that keep them invisible. They treat their profile like a job application. All they're doing is posting what they've done versus adding value. They're copying and pasting the same stuff that they put on Instagram. It doesn't work. It's a different platform. They're chasing likes instead of connections and conversion. And what they're doing is they're ghosting their audience between posts. So they have a lack of consistency. Right. LinkedIn is one of these places that was traditionally looked at as super, super corporate. And a lot of people try and play safe when it comes to LinkedIn, but the reality is, is being too safe is going to keep you invisible. LinkedIn Rewards Bold scroll stopping opinions. So we want to start creating things that are slightly polarizing and slightly different. So I worked with a client recently who I was stuck on Instagram and was just really getting zero leads. We optimized her profile on Instagram. We just realized it wasn't where her ideal client was. So what we did is we came over to LinkedIn and we started thinking, who is it that she wants to speak to? Who do we want to position her as? What is the personal brand she wants to build? Who does she want to speak to? How does she want to be viewed? So we optimized her profile, built in like a 20 minute kind of daily LinkedIn system, which I'll talk to you about in a minute. And in 30 days she had already booked three new sales calls and then she signed two of those. And we didn't have any paid ads or any funnels. This is the real proof that clarity, visibility and simple systems are just going to beat that. So what I always say to my clients when it comes to LinkedIn is keep it really, really simple. So what I mean by that and I'm just going to share my screen with you again. What we want to do is keep LinkedIn really simple for us. So what we're going to do is every single day I have a list of 10 people and I engage with their content. These are people that I believe can really connect me with the right people, can really allow me to meet other like minded people who are in the same niche as me who may be interested in what I'm sharing. Okay, so what we want to be thinking about is who are the people that you know your ideal client is going to be following with and engaging? And what will often happen is LinkedIn here will suggest people. So for example, Stephen Bartlett is someone who I know a lot of my ideal clients will be looking at, they'll be commenting. So what I try and do is every day I'll go on to his posts and I'll make a comment, I'll like it, I'll make a comment. And I try and do this with at least 10 people who I follow with big followings every single day. So I gone to 10 big people. What I then do is I will find three slightly smaller people or smaller people in my community and go and comment on their profiles. What I'll then do after that is I will go and then post one really solid piece of content and that's it. So I go on 10 big profiles, three smaller profiles and post one big piece of content. It gets to be as simple as that. And if you are just starting out, I'm going to go into more training over the next few months around how to really, really dig deep into LinkedIn. But if this is something that you are just starting, this is going to be the most incredible place to start, because what it's going to allow you to do is start building authority in a slightly different space. And once you've started building that out, what we're going to then realize is, are my ideal clients here, what kind of content do they like, what feels good for them, what's landing with them, what's not landing with them? So if you are completely new to LinkedIn, or go and set up a profile, go and optimize your profile. Start thinking about who it is that you want to follow, who is it that you want to engage with, where are your ideal clients hanging out, who are they speaking to, who are they engaging with? And that's where you need to be.
